I'm sorry, I just don't have any faith in the NET rankings yet. Maybe it's effective late in the season, but I'm not even sure about that. I will stay with Kenpom for now.

NET rankings are much more sensitive at this time of year compared to Kenpom as it doesn't have preseason expectations built into the model. Kent lost last night on a neutral court to a UC Irvine team that would place in the upper half of the MAC and it still led to them falling 32 spots. Kent fell maybe 5 spots in Kenpom over that same loss. Kenpom is the more proven and likely accurate measurement of whose better than who. That being said when it comes to seeding and such for the NCAA tournament, the NET rankings is what the committee looks at, not Kenpom so it's still worth looking at.

I'm always leery of ranking systems created by committees in charge of essentially delivering cash flow for the NCAA. Then again, any system that has Can't falling 32 spots... I might reconsider. ?

One ranking I do take stock in at this point is the strength of schedule. This site that I frequently visit has the Green Wave sitting at # 349. Only 4 teams have a lesser rank.

I expect the Zips to be favored in this one by 6-8 points or so.  A good effort from our guys wins this game fairly comfortably.

SOS can be a little misleading. It doesn't factor non-D1 games into the equation. EMU has played 3 of those games thus far. Tulane has actually played 0 of those games. Sure Alcorn State & SE Louisiana are terrible teams, but they're still better than D2 and NAIA teams. Tulane could quickly improve their SOS by dropping those low D1 opponents and schedule 2-3 D2 teams instead.

Pardon the potential KSUcks-level question here, but has anyone looked into the FloHoops subscription for these 2 games? If I do the "Yearly" plan, is it a monthly payment of $12.50 until I cancel? Or am I locked into paying the full $150 no matter when I cancel?

From the website...

"4. Payment

By providing a credit card or other “Payment Method” accepted by FloSports for your subscription, you are expressly agreeing that we are authorized to charge you a monthly or yearly subscription fee, any other fees for additional services you may purchase, and any applicable taxes in connection with your use of your subscription to the Payment Method. If you want to use a different Payment Method than the one you signed up to use during registration, or if there is a change in your credit card validity or expiration date, you may edit your Payment Method information by logging in on the FloSports Site and clicking on your profile > Account > Subscriptions > Manage. When you provide a Payment Method to access a subscription, including in connection with a free trial offer, our system will attempt to verify the information you entered. We do this by processing an authorization hold, which is a standard practice. We do not charge you in connection with this authorization hold. If your Payment Method expires and you do not edit your Payment Method information or cancel your account, you authorize us to continue billing, and you will remain responsible for any uncollected amounts.

As used in these Terms, “billing” shall indicate either a charge or debit, as applicable, against your Payment Method. The subscription fee will be billed at the beginning of your subscription or expiration of your free trial period, if any, whichever is earlier, and on each monthly or yearly renewal date thereafter unless and until you cancel your subscription or the account or service is otherwise suspended or discontinued pursuant to these Terms. To see the commencement date for your next renewal period, log in on the FloSports Site and click on your profile > Account > Subscriptions > Manage.

We automatically bill your Payment Method each month or year on the calendar day corresponding to the commencement of your subscription (each such month, a “Monthly Period”, or year, a “Yearly Period”). In the event your subscription began on a day not contained in a given month, we bill your Payment Method on the last day of such month. For example, if you became a paying subscriber on January 31, your Payment Method would next be billed on February 28. If you change your Payment Method, this could result in changing the calendar day upon which you are billed. You acknowledge that the amount billed each Monthly Period or Yearly Period may vary due to promotional offers, changes in your subscription, and changes in applicable taxes, and you authorize us to charge your Payment Method for the corresponding amounts. If FloSports changes the subscription fee or other charges for your subscription, we will give you advance notice of these changes by email. However, we will not be able to notify you of changes in any applicable taxes.

Very rarely, if there are special circumstances where FloSports determines it is appropriate (e.g., your subscription Service is unavailable for days due to technical difficulties), we may provide credits to affected subscribers. The amount and form of such credits, and the decision to provide them, are at FloSports sole and absolute discretion, and the provision of credits in one instance does not entitle anyone to credits in the future under similar or different circumstances.

Ongoing Subscription and Cancellation. Your subscription will continue in effect on a month-to-month or year-to-year basis unless and until you cancel your subscription or the account or service is otherwise suspended or discontinued pursuant to these Terms. You must cancel your subscription before your monthly or yearly renewal date in order to avoid the next billing (each Monthly Period or Yearly Period). We will bill the monthly or yearly subscription fee plus any applicable taxes to the Payment Method you provide to us during registration (or to a different Payment Method if you change your account information). If you cancel your subscription, cancellation will be effective at the end of the current Monthly Period or Yearly Period. This means that you will have continued access to your subscription for the remainder of that period, but you will not receive a refund.

You can cancel your account at any time through your account settings. These account settings can be accessed by scrolling over your profile at the top right of the home page. On that drop down menu, you will see “Account”. You will be able to access the “Subscription” tab and from there you will have the ability to cancel or modify your subscription by clicking “Manage”."

Flo started with wrestling and is a decent site there because there's really nothing else that covers it in any depth (my cousin wrestles at OSU). They've jacked prices up and cover anything with a pay wall now. Heck, their rankings are the rankings used by the NCAA for wrestling and you can't even see them unless you pay. So while it may be worth it if you're a wrestling fan or another niche sport they cover.. 12.50 for hoops when ESPN+ is 5 or 6 bucks a month is just insane. That's my flo soapbox. If you can cancel it, I suppose you can't put a price on watching the Zips ?

You can cancel after one month.  I subscribed for one month to watch the football team at UMass, IIRC.

Did you mean to do the monthly? So the yearly locks you in for the full $150?

I meant to do the monthly but wasn't paying close enough attention.  The monthly rate is, what, $30/month where the yearly rate is 12.50/month.  I clicked the $12.50/month without looking closely enough.  After I subscribed the note said something along the lines of "Your yearly subscription will be billed once-per-year."  :(

And btw, the 2:30 start time on GoZips dot com may be a typo.  FLO Sports is saying they don't begin streaming the DC Classic till 3:30.

That's the answer I was looking for. Thank you. Looks like it's Frenchy for me. I would contact FLO and let them know your error, see if there's anything they can do.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Just a little public service announcement, the Lady Zippers are going to be on FLO Sports at 11:00 a.m.  They're participating the Puerto Rico Classic.

"Damnit FLO, you tricked me. But I'm going to get my $150 worth. Lady Zips on at 11, DIII Men's Volleyball at 1. That should carry me to the Zips/Tulane game at 2:30 unless GoZips.com screwed up and it's actually a 3:30 tip. Hmmmm... Ah! NAIA Grass Growing & Paint Drying simultaneously at 2:15 just in case. Perfect." - @Blue & Gold (probably)
