Shane Beamer has brought a lot of new energy to USC. I have family in SC that follow the gamecocks and I keep an eye and watch the games I can. I didn't know much about Shane before he got there. The Gamecocks get looked over out side of Columbia, especially with Clemson's recent success. The Will Muschamp hire didn't go over great since he couldn't win at Florida so why would he at USC when its even harder to do so. That proved out.

Shane seems to have regained the energy that the Ol Ball Coach had when he first arrived there. So far its paying off.

With Pat Fitzgerald being fired at Northwestern, the transfer portal is now open for all those players that are there. It will be interesting see how many players leave and what will be left of the program. There is some talk about if they have an exodus, will they be able to field a team. I don't know about that. There are so many kids in the portal they should be able to get bodies to fill roster spots but their going to be BAD this year either way.

When I heard that firing Patty F was picking up steam, I grabbed them on Bet365 for Under 3.5 Wins, which was +100. Last I checked, Northwestern O/U win total has been pulled from both Bet365 & FanDuel. The bet is still valid.

Awful situation. They were a 1 win team that had an atrocious transfer portal class.

I don't think many schools are looking for players who contributed to a 1 win season. NW built a palace of a practice facility on Lake Michigan and it's probably the nicest in the country. Yes, the nicest in the country. They will get players.

When I first heard this story I doubted Fitz would be involved. Looks like I was wrong. It's extremely hard to win at NE and he won a lot. Probably the best Big 10 coach during his time there. Anyone can win at places like OSU and Michigan. They are football factories. NW is a school for dorks.

Hard to envision more than 3 wins with that roster. Would like to think they’d beat UTEP and Howard. Maybe catch someone else by surprise to get 3? Evan Hull basically carried their offense and he’s gone. Maybe Hilinski has matured since his days at South Carolina? He struggled last year and will likely have a worse OL this year. The defense was dead last in the Big10 against the run, collecting sacks, and second to last in interceptions. Just rough all around.

I'm sure Northwestern fans thought they'd beat Southern Illinois last year.

Was pretty surprised under 3.5 was +100.

It's interesting how mistakenly we remember things. I was thinking of the Zips victory against them and thought NW probably had a bad season. In fact, they went 8-5 that year, won the Big Ten West and played in the conference championship. In fact, Akron beat a really good team.

I've also done small betas at Irish casinos, a list of which I found here - https://sloteire.com/low-deposit-casinos/3-euro - check it out too, you can only bet €3 here. That's enough for fun isn't it?

I suppose you can bet against them for quite a long time now. They were not very strong before with 1 win and now they are even worse.

Akron to the PAC12.

Very bias article against the conference realignment. I think there are a lot of factors not mentioned by the author.

Regardless, fascinating times for college athletics.

Colin Cowherd just gave the most common and laziest reason for solving the problems in college football. Anyone want to guess?  First one to get it right gets, absolutely nothing.

As I understand it, it’s a three-pronged approach.

1.       Permanently implement daylight savings time nationwide.

2.       Require all stadium ladies rooms to provide free sanitary napkins.

3.       Eliminate the transfer portal.

No.  His solution is much more predictable.

Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State to the Big 12.

Oregon and Washington to the Big Ten.

PAC12 has 4 teams left - Wash St., Oregon St., Stanford, and Cal.

Things have been moving quickly the last 48 hours. Expect more movement to happen quickly in the coming weeks.

- Does the PAC12 dissolve completely, or do they absorb the Mountain West?

- If the Mountain West/PAC12 join somehow, does the American Athletic Conference look to counter with growth?

- The ACC hasn't been touched, although teams like Florida State have drawn interest (naturally, they're a fit for the SEC). If they're cherry picked, who do they backfill with?

Definitely all very fascinating. PAC probably shouldn’t be considered a P5 conference for football with the remaining teams plus any G5 additions. It was likely only a matter of time before they added SDSU and UNLV though.

From my limited knowledge, I’m not sure if SEC has much interest in any ACC team. They are only going to add another school that increases the payout to each current member school. The same source that gave a heads up about Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC (before it was reported nationally) also said SEC had conversations with two of the elite BIG10 schools but nothing came from it. Wouldn’t that throw another curveball in this whole mess if the likes of Michigan or Ohio State eventually bounced over to the SEC?

I was very opinionated on this before, but no longer. Now just sitting back and watching the madness unfold.

The PAC12 is done.

I forgot about the AAC. That's all you need to know about that conference.

The ACC isn't going to do anything. FSU's posturing in recent weeks is laughable. They overestimate their importance in college football.  FSU would get killed in the SEC. The ACC should bring in WVU.

I know UA isn't going anywhere, but man it would be nice to get out of the MAC. Yeah I'm beating a dead horse and it's completely unrealistic. But hypothetically could we pull a UConn and go Big East in everything but football? Could the some of the top MAC, AAC, Sun Belt schools break off and form their own conference? I mean for all the hate the AAC gets they still have Memphis, Navy, USF, etc.

Top MAC/Sun Belt would all join the AAC before the top AAC/MAC/Sun Belt created their own conference. AAC has the most lucrative media deal already in place, and that's what this realignment is all about. AAC is underrated, even with the Cincy/UCF/Houston departures. Tulane beat USC in the Cotton Bowl. UAB, Charlotte, ECU, FAU, Memphis, Navy, North Texas, USF, SMU, Temple, Wichita State (basketball) are all formidable opponents. Their dead weight is really just Rice. Temple, UTSA, and Tulsa are the other members I haven't mentioned yet. I would take ALL of them over EMU/WMU/CMU/NIU/Balls/etc.

There are 6 slots available for the top 6 ranked conference champions in the new 12 team playoff format.

- American

- ACC

- Big12

- Big Ten

- CUSA

- MAC

- MW

- PAC12(?)

- SEC

- Sun Belt

ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC are locks for 4 slots, and probably the top 4 that get the automatic BYE to the Quarterfinals. That leaves 2 slots available for the American, CUSA, MAC, MW, PAC12(?), and Sun Belt. We all know this is all about money, and since we live in an imperfect world, let's say the ranking preferences will go as the following...

- PAC12(?)

- American

- MW

- MAC/Sun Belt

- CUSA

4 conferences are on the outside looking in. 6 conferences have to counter the recent P5 realignment to bolster their position in the playoff race and media deal race. What happens? Who knows; we'll see. This will be fun to watch, though.
