Game 27- Buffalo

The 12-14/6-7 Buffalo Bulls come into the JAR Saturday night to face the Zips.  Buffalo is coming off of losses to PCCC and OU.

6’5” sophomore guard Curtis Jones leads the Bulls 15.5 ppg while contributing 5 rpg.  6’8” senior forward LaQuill Hardnett leads rebounding at 7.4 rpg while contributing 10.3 ppg.  From looking at their schedule, our friends from Canada have been very inconsistent, being competitive in some games and even thumping Ball State by 34 in Muncie while struggling unexpectedly in some others.  The Zips won at Buffalo, 81-64, on January 31st, with X leading the way with 32 points.

The administration will be watching the attendance very closely as they try to decide between Saturday afternoon games and Saturday night games going forward. It will be interesting to see if this one outdraws the 2234 attendance at the OU game a couple of weeks ago.

Somebody else may have mentioned it, but has anyone else noticed that Michael Beaven has been writing the Zips stories for the Beacon for the last week or so?

yes.  as for Buffalo game, hoping that fun and easy win in Ypsilanti, owning Bates, and having an extra day before a night game with Buffalo will rejuvenate the Zips as they move into the final stretch.

Does anyone know if people can still just walk up to the JAR ticket booth right before game time and purchase tickets? I have friends that may want to go that don't have tickets currently and I really haven't paid attention to see if anything has changed with that since all the Covid changes have happened with everything.

Sure can. Adam and his staff will be happy to help you out.

I’m really hoping the fans show out tonight. These guys deserve it in a prime time Saturday night. This is what college basketball is all about!

This is not the same UB team we destroyed in New York. They’ll have their guard Foster this time around. They’re still not a hugely skilled team, but that doesn’t mean it’s time for the defense to take a crap again. The secret will be controlling the pace and making them play half-court ball. They lack the skill to do that, but have the athleticism to run teams off the floor. Go Zips!

Point Park type crowd so far. Hopefully folks are just running late.

Lack of students.   But, right, sparse, but mighty.  Not sure why one can come to the Kent game and be so into it with Zips gear then not interested after that.  Love the new announcer until...geez
