Jayvin James has gotten offers from Maryland, Georgia State, USF, and Cincinnati. He’s off to a good start. Looks like he’s gonna get his training table

I bet it’ll be USF or another Florida school.

What is this "training table" that keeps getting mentioned? I obviously missed the original post/conversation to give it context. I feel like an outsider to an inside joke 😂

Basically, most/all D1 football programs have a “training table” for their teams. A training table provides better food and nutrition vs just the standard cafeteria food that the student body gets. It’s pretty important for kids that need to gain weight or maintain a certain weight level. Akron got rid of their in a budget cut earlier this year.

A training table is essentially a place where a college athlete can consume a diet regimen directly focused on their physical strength and development.

Wow, that's not a small deal. I thought maybe you guys were talking about the table guys sit on when they get their ankles wrapped 😂  I can't believe we don't have a special diet for our football players?!?!  Yeah, JoeMo should definitely be miffed at that.

Thanks, Clark. I'm out of likes.

As I mentioned to @MangoZip, that blows my mind we don't offer that to our D1 footballers!

I agree 100%, they need to do what’s best for them, and in this new,  ever changing world of college football most kids will likely make a move at some point in their playing career. Having said that, the drama in some of these announcements seems a little over the top and self absorbed.

Excuse my ignorance. Is there a possibility that Akron could ever set up some type of NIL presence? Obviously the University is not in position to do that. Would it take one big donor to have the money and “want” to set this up for football? It seems like even a little bit could keep some contributors or younger guys longer. Could any type of money could be used to enhance QB/OT/DL/CB or is that unrealistic?

On3 reporting McCoy in the portal. If true, that’s a clean sweep of our All-MAC players.

This just sucks. I realize you can rebuild like current champion OU did when they lost 9 of 11 offensive starters and I hope Joe does. But this is Akron. Our All MAC's will continue to leave until we can establish a winning culture. Even then, with the shifting sands of college football, we may not be able to sustain a program w/o more support for the players.

Nemer has to make a statement and back it up. It is a total shame we don't have a training table, let alone a winning program or attractive culture. A D1 competitive football program is worth the investment. It is part of the remedy for restoring the enrollment. Look at Liberty's enrollment after football took off. Same for Coastal Carolina.

Can someone contact the Pope or the Dali Lama and see if they will talk to God about our players leaving the program? It seems He or She is the one common thread in all their announcements regarding their departure. What's God got against Zip football? We are facing a tough off-season and He/She doesn't have to pile it on.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the only position groups that don’t have a portal entry are QB and TE? Does anyone know for sure if Tahj and Finley are coming back? A little surprised that one of the TE’s didn’t hit the portal but glad they didn’t.

Think I'm done caring about Zips football. I don't see the Zips crawling out of the hole they are currently in. I think at the time they beat Toledo they were about halfway out, but now they have slide back to the very bottom.

If you think Akron football has it bad because a handful of players have departed. The Marshall thundering herds  entire football team is trying to enter the portal to follow their coach to southern miss who went 1-11. The portal is out of control.

Same would have happened with Akron had Moorhead been let go like some suggested he should be in another thread.
