Anybody playing in Canton this weekend being recruited by the Zips?

Any insight on if we send scouts to these games or if JoeMo himself may attend?

Who in these games would you like to see the Zips offer?

Kent State signed Avon's QB. He was a finalist for Mr. Football.  Avon won the D2 championship last night.  He threw for 1 TD & ran for another. He's pretty tough but I'm not too upset we didn't go after him.

Avon also has an OL committed to Cincy.

We've been recruiting Avon junior LB Ryan Stolarski.  Idk if we've offered yet but he's been on campus.

We are friends with the Stolarski's, Avon is our rival High School.  Our coaches are high on Ryan and offered him in the first five minutes he was on campus.  Great kid.  Holds offers from Toledo, Buffalo, Lehigh and I think OU and Miami.

Forgot Eastern Michigan too.  Basically every MAC school has or will offer him.

I am aware of the Avon QB Nolan Good, simply because we share a last name and he was going to be recruited at the Akron so my reasons for wishing my alma mater would recruit him were for personal irony.

Anybody from Cincinnati Anderson we have been looking at? Anybody we should?

what about any of the other teams in Canton this weekend?

Went the Games 1 and 2 today.

Marion Local is a beast, and Hillsdale basically laid down for them. It was 60-0 at the half. 60 to zero.

Game #2 was great. Loved Bishop Watterson’s defense. The pulled out a 19-14 win after being down 7-0 at the half.

Hillsdale didn't lay down for them.  That's just the margin between the teams.

They laid down. 100%. Zero fight. Their coach never raised his voice, not one player tried to fire anyone up. Not one cowbell rang from the stands. They were “Dead Man Walking” from start to finish in a state championship game.

Marion Local is great. But Hillsdale never even tried to punch them in the nose. They were destroyed before the opening kickoff. And it got worse from there.

I've been away from Ohio for almost 20 years now. I didn't realize they moved to a "Participation Trophy" playoff system. Seven divisions?  How many teams per region make it?  I saw that some teams who make the playoffs only have a couple of wins?  This is complete nonsense. If your team sucks to the point you can only get two wins, at the end of the year you should get a pat on the head and told to try harder the next season. These kids aren't going to be damaged for life because they didn't make the playoffs.

It is a money making scheme for OHSAA. Started with COVID and OHSAA is making so much money from it they won't go back to 8 teams per region.  Some schools make the playoffs because there are 16 spots and only 17 teams in the region.

And the coaches hate it.  Most coaches were very vocal about it with concerns for the safety of the players.  It's going to take teams forfeiting the playoffs, which is a hard thing to do.  I would love to see it changed, and also to finally give open enrollment/private a separate playoff bracket.

448 teams make the playoffs across 7 divisions.

In Indiana every team makes the playoffs. Why don’t people complain about basketball, baseball or soccer? Every team makes the playoffs in those sports too.

Maybe the playoffs should be abbreviated to eliminate crappy teams also in those spots. .

Those other sports aren't as risky to injury and their playoffs aren't a disgusting money grab at the risk of youth health. Any other questions?

I would agree about football being more of an injury risk and playing 15 games is too much but it’s not like the OHSAA is swimming in money and getting rich off football playoff games. From what I heard they are just trying to stay afloat - sounds like Akron’s athletic dept

I'll say the same thing about the OHSAA that I used to say about the NCAA. If it went under, high schools would find a way to play ten games a season.

Exactly what is this organization doing to cause it to go broke?
