Results from Thursday Night

Virginia gets a 2-1 win over California

SMU was very impressive in a 5-1 win over Syracuse

Georgetown  2-0 over Providence

Connecticut 2-1 over Akron

Cornell got a 1-0 win over Penn

Princeton continued its great season with a 3-1 win over Harvard

     What happened in RPI ????

Princeton and Virginia stayed at #1 and #2

SMU moved up from #11 to #7

Connecticut jumped from #21 to #12

Georgetown did not have a strong opponent so they only improved from 19 up to #18

The winner of the Georgetown- UConn game will almost certainly finish ahead of Akron in RPI.

Cornell improved from #22 to #21

Akron , with the loss.......dropped from #8 in RPI to #10 in RPI.....

Congrats to Sinisa and team, but more importantly, I believe that CSU win is good for the Zips since we played / defeated them this season.

Saturday November 15th

Missouri Valley Conference final

#94 RPI Western Michigan at #80 RPI Evansville    7 pm

Big South Conference Final

#35 RPI Gardner Webb at #16 RPI High Point  6 pm

Summit league final

#15 RPI Kansas City at #29 Denver - 3 pm mountain time

Regular Season games - no league tournament

#5 RPI Portland at #137 RPI St. Mary's     4 pm

The Summit League final......had a result.....that should be good for Akron for RPI purposes

When the game started, Kansas City was at 14 for RPI and Denver was at 29.....

A Kansas City win over a high RPI Denver team...could have moved Kansas City ahead of Akron in RPI.

Denver is the Summit league champion with a 4-2 win over Kansas City.

as a result of the loss, Kansas City Roos drop down to 20 in RPI.

the Denver Pioneers move from 29 in RPI.....up to #23 in RPI

The Denver win was good for Georgetown.  Georgetown has only lost 1 game since August 25.  Their one loss was on October 7 to Denver.

Before the Denver win, Seton Hall was 17 in RPI and Georgetown was 18 in RPI.

After the Denver win, Georgetown is 16 in RPI and Seton Hall stays at 17.

The Georgetown-UConn winner will deservedly jump ahead of Akron for NCAA seeding purposes.

In a regular season game. Portland got a 1-0 win over very low RPI St. Mary's

as a result of the weak opponent, Portland dropped from 5 to 6.  Big Ten regular season champ Maryland moved up from 6 up to #5.

As a result of the Kansas City loss, High Point moved up to #15 in RPI.  With a win over #34 Gardner Webb, High Point could move up in RPI.  High Point just scored to go up 1-0 (57 minutes)

Big South Conference Final

#34 Gardner Webb at #15  High Point

High Point wins 3-0 to improve their record to 13-1-4

Akron stays at #10 in RPI

High Point jumps from 15 in RPI ....all the way up to #11

Gardner Webb drops from 34 to 36.

High Point may play in a weaker conference......but they have been very impressive against teams ranked in RPI top 43

High Point vs., Top teams

2-1 win over Georgetown

3-1 win over #43 VCU

2-2 tie with Marshall

3-0 win over #36 Gardner Webb (regular season) - Gardner Webb had a regular season win over West Virginia

2-2 tie with West Virginia

only loss is to #27 UNC Greensboro (UNCG plays #21 Furman tomorrow)

3-0 conference championship win over #36 Gardner Webb

4-1-2 record against Quality opponents

Georgetown, Marshall and UNC Greensboro all play in conference finals tomorrow....

if those 3 teams all win, High Point will jump over Akron in RPI.

Western Michigan and Evansville 0-0 at 71 minutes

Western Michigan earns an NCAA tournament spot.

Broncos improve to 7-9-4 with a 1-0 win over top seed Evansville.

Congratulations to Brian Quinn (the father of former Zip Great Aodhan Quinn)

Brian Quinn is the head coach of the San Diego Toreros.

This is Brian Quinn's 8th year as the Torero head coach.

The Toreros just won their 4th straight West Coast Conference title (no conference tournament.)

The West Coach Conference(WCC) has 3 of the Nation's best teams.

Tonight, #7 RPI San Diego played at #21 RPI Oregon State to determine the league Champion.

In the United Soccer coaches rankings, 3 WCC teams were ranked in the top 10

Portland at 6 ; San Diego at 7 and Oregon State at 10.

In RPI (when the game started), Portland was #6 ; San Diego was #7 and Oregon State was #21.

Coming into the game , these were the league standings

1.  Oregon State   6-0-2

2. San Diego         6-1-1

3. Portland            6-1-2

San Diego needed to win  to win the league title.

A tie or a win would give Oregon State the league title

San Diego wins 4-2

so final standings are 1. Sand Diego 7-1-1  ; tie for 2nd Portland and Oregon State 6-1-2

Game was much closer than 4-2

Game was 1-1 at 67...when San Diego scored on an outstanding corner kick

at 80 minutes, Oregon State scored to tie it at 2-2 on a perfectly timed run.

Brian Quinn asked for VAR.....it was very close...but the goal stood

with 10 minutes to go, Oregon State was tied and was going to win the league

1 minute later, San Diego scored on a great free kick....25 to 30 yards

beautiful strike

Oregon State had to go full tilt....to try to tie it up...San Diego got a take away and scored to make it 4-2

One of the best soccer games that I have watched in a long time.   Brian Quinn is a very good college coach.

I will root for San Diego in the NCAA's and I really hope that they are not in the Zips regional.  The torerros are a very good soccer team.

The Oregon State loss probably hurt Indiana and Stanford a little bit as the biggest non league win for both the Hoosiers and the Cardinal was over Oregon State.
