If we were sending men's/women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc. I would understand it more, but we're not. They're paying us a ton of money and are covering the travel costs for each MAC school to fly out there once every 3 years. What's the downside? 1 Quote
ZippyRulz Posted Friday at 07:06 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 07:06 PM (edited) That's got to be about a 4 hour flight from Sac to Ohio/Mich. It will be kinda nuts for them if they have consecutive-week games out here. I wonder if they would stay for the week and find a practice facility or make 4 long flights out and back within the space of a week. Then again it may not be much different than some of the long bus trips in the MAC. They will also have a couple of payday games on the schedule at who knows where. I'm sure they will try to keep those closer to home. As I understand it, they will be incorporated into the MAC schedule already this fall. Edited Friday at 07:10 PM by ZippyRulz Quote
MangoZip Posted Friday at 07:37 PM Report Posted Friday at 07:37 PM Here is their current schedule. It will be interesting to see if they try to get out of some of these games and fill them with MAC teams. Quote

I found this video very interesting if you look at the Money aspect on as a Conference adding Sac State, if accurate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vTci7wCe3Q Quote

That's the only real issue. Otherwise, I appreciate the MAC taking a wild shot here. The MAC's traditional complacency and lack of progress has actually been replaced with taking a shot at something (even if that something came with virtually zero financial risk). 1 Quote

zippy5 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I mean that's going to happen once or twice per year. Which means maybe once over the next 5 years for Akron? Big whoop 1 Quote

Eh, it's slightly more real, especially when you have a fair number of players up and down the roster that will be here a couple years. But, as noted, it's only going to be a bit of a pain. Quote
kreed5120 Posted 16 minutes ago Report Posted 16 minutes ago (edited) It matters less at schools like OSU where the players are really majoring in becoming professional athletes. I had classes with several college football players in the college of business that were very bright. Most of Akron's roster is getting little to no money and unlike basketball there aren't 100 leagues around the world to play in so they will need to rely on eventually getting a 9-5. As @zippy5 pointed out I don't think it's an issue because it might impact someone only once if they stay a full 5 years. I'm more pointing out that even though many blow off school because they're really only here to play football that's not the case for all. Edited 12 minutes ago by kreed5120 Quote
