BUT - Tonight is the beginning of a new season, and I desperately hope I'm wrong.

 

I would say another 4-8 season would be the fireable offense, not this particular situation. Although even at 4-8 IDK if the program has money to pay a buyout while also paying for a new coach. A chance we would have to ride out the contract irregardless if it doesn't pan out.

Right now Akron basketball, based off Rothstein tweet, has 2 players seeking a 5th year of eligibility. Both of which would probably be Zips starters next season if they get a 5th year. That said, if both get denied then I don't think anyone would try to claim that as a fireable offense for Dustin Ford.

Think this is a fair take, but if there’s only a 50% chance and you don’t bring in somebody else with experience, the other QBs on the roster better be able to perform. I think all the other guys have potential an am intrigued to see them, but they have next to no game experience.

To be fair, this is the more correct answer.  Joe's not leaving until his contract is up, or he finds an OC job somewhere.  It would not be a good business decision to fire Joe, though you're getting darn close to "are we better in the community without him and that cash than with him" with another 4-8 season.

I feel we're going to learn a bit about that in a couple hours.  As screwy as this has been, I wouldn't be shocked if Broughton/Roggow (whoever starts) is actually reasonably OK

We have some pretty young OL out there. 
 

you can tell Broughton is athletic. Not going to last long taking some of those hits though.

The team overall hasn't been that bad.  I don't like punting on the plus side of the field, but going for it requires a coach that believes in his team.

I would love for Moorhead to take some chances every now and then. They're playing this to minimize the final deficit versus actually trying to pull off an upset. 

 

Like, 4th and 5 around midfield, we send the offense out, take a penalty, punt, and then - very predictably- let them march down the field and score. 

 

I thought his brand of football was going to be fun when he arrived. But it's so uninspiring.
