  1. This team was easily a 6-6, 7-5 team last year without injuries IMO. I love when everyone is so ready to throw a young team under the bus without seeing what they can do. 2012: 1-11 (scratch) 2013: 5-7 (success) 2014: 5-7 (failure, had potential to be 6-6 or 7-5) 2015: 8-5 Bowl Appearance, (success) 2016: 5-7 (failure, bowl appearance) 2017: I expect nothing less than a Bowl appearance. Record Doesn't matter to me. Anything above what's required to get a Bowl appearance is a bonus. Though I may be the only one saying it here: ZIPS WILL WIN THE MAC EAST this year. Consider it my bold prediction, and let the triggered snowflakes start throwing feces. 2018: Bowl Appearance, Win MAC East. Anything less is a disappointment. But this really deserves an * simply because if the team were to go 10-2 and lose a game in the last second against Ohio...I'll reconsider being upset because their 10-2...which in 2018 means they would have had to have beaten 1 of 2 BIG-10 teams.

  2. Pre season depth charts mean nothing. Many coaches use them as motivation for players that they know can be better.

  3. So awesome that the only two former Zips on 2017 Gold Cup squads have both made it to the finals. Zips' and Timbers' teammates, incredible. USA all the way, of course!!!

  4. Which according to hilltopper doesn't seem to be a problem if need be. Either way let's hope it doesn't come to that and we win 8 games this year.

  5. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2017/07/25/five-thoughts-on-the-union-the-universe-and-everything/ Najem: Najem put himself in decent positions, demonstrated good comfort on the ball, and displayed pretty good passing vision on a few occasions, though he didn’t always make the right decisions. On the night, he completed 87 percent of his passes, with two key passes leading to shots. Not bad, but not spectacular either. That said, it’s hard to measure his quality based on this performance because Jay Simpson spent the night gumming up the central channels with a static lack of movement. Like Epps, Najem showed enough to warrant more minutes and make you wonder what he could do when paired with a better attacking group around him.

  7. It seems like there are some on ZNO that will never be happy. With anything. Ever, when it comes to Zips Football. The Zips could beat Penn State and they'll be on here saying "it shoulda been by 2 more TDs...." unreal. As for the comments about people on the depth chart: Isn't this Kato's Redshirt freshman year? Gee I wonder, if we go look at NFL training camp depth charts if we'll find first round rookies listed dead last on the first Training camp/OTA Depth chart? Cause you know...they have to earn their way up the depth chart.

  8. That's just his listed weight to throw off his opponents

  9. So, does this mean you have to Zip-up . . . your zipper? May be a dumb old joke to you, but it was fresh and clever in my mind!

  10. I feel like its groundhog's day. Your feelings towards the roster are well known.

  11. You should no better than to take that depth chart seriously, but that wouldn't fit your agenda of constantly bitching so i guess I should expect it.

  12. Yeah -- sorry for the delay! The DoD funds the program at the federal program, as they're the major beneficiary or if you will "stakeholder" as I learned in planning class! It was fun, because the DoD's program manager is a Cant State alum and the top university in the field is ours! You can probably still find the thread and/or links to info on the lawsuit. I suspect it was settled out of court (naturally), but not sure if the UA PM is still around. I was partly interested in how the program came into being under Pres. Proenza as a small project on the Medina campus, and then the Defense Dept stepped in and it blew up in size.

  13. AWESOME! Might have to make the road trip for this one...

  14. Not surprising that they would offer us a road game this year. We have a very young and beatable team. I would be shocked if they agreed to play us at the JAR next season.

  16. I think your post is roughly as accurate as me saying your dream tailgate party consists of funneling warm Schaefer beer with Zach the Zip at an indoor 4H auction site.

  17. In all seriousness.... I think the zips need to make a bowl game this season and win the mac east next season. The mac east is an absolute joke and we have done nothing more than hang right around the middle of the pack. Excuses (injuries, bad roster when hired), etc... only last so long. The guy will be here for 3/4 of a decade at that point. Not winning our HALF of the conference during that run is enough to demand a change. We can't afford to buy out his contract, so he needs 2 good years to get an extension.

  18. He and staff need to win 7 games each season. And the recruiting classes both years need to include 75% incoming freshmen, not JUCO and year-of-eligibility-left graduated players. Show me you are trying to build a program, not just do it year-to-year with smoke and mirror wishing. Maybe I's go 6 win this year seven next. Losing season this year should cause Big Mike to pull trigger now and buyout his last season. And also he needs to tell wifey to dress her age.

  19. QB, D line, punting, and WR are my top 4 concerns. I must say, not looking forward to boring punt returns again after a year of being dazzled by JoJo. Honestly, none of it matters if Tommy isn't healthy because we will be too easy to shut down with a mediocre QB. IMHO, it Tommy isn't 100% we might see true freshman Alex Rammart in the mix.
