  1. I'm not sure it can hurt. Not pleased with recruiting or WR play.
  2. Zero? Maybe one the year they went 6-6?
  3. About as favorable as a schedule the MAC can wish for. Don't get me wrong, those teams are far from pushovers, though.
  4. I might be inclined to order something from Felt and Chenile if it didn't have a 1990s site setup. Cant find anything Akron on there.
  5. 11-7 after beating the first place Raptors last night. Now on a 6 game winning streak.
  6. ...and this. Sorry, but soccer isn't going to make or break us joining/staying in any conference.
  7. Have any links? I'd be interested in reading about this.
  8. Have nothing to say about that guy, but being a casual follower of Mount/OAC/DIII football, I do find Buffalo's hire very intriguing.
  9. I do not have much of anything specific to add. I lived right across from the stadium when I was in school, so usually had my own little tailgates before games. What I do have to say is that Akron fans should be put together. We don't have enough support to give priority parking to people who can afford to donate $2500 or whatever. Scattering the fans at random lots all over campus looks bad. The tailgating scene is depressing compared to ANY other D1 football game I have attended (not a knock on any of the regulars, you guys are awesome). I would love to be a regular tailgater. Unfortunately, I am a lot more passionate than most of my friends, so they want to see that it looks like fun before they will make time to go. Lets get this fixed. Maybe start charging premiums to park in lot 9 once we actually have some real demand. Remember, UA is a non-profit.
  10. 100% correct.
  11. They also have the same first names... I saw something about this posted before, but it looks like UAB is indeed planning to shut down their program (looks like so more money can go to big brother). All potential recruits would be eligible to play immediately... http://deadspin.com/report-uab-to-shut-down-its-football-program-1664885691?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
  12. It's worth noting that this was the OSU's player's first season playing football. Before that, he was on the wrestling team. Its not clear how many concussions were received for football vs wrestling.
  13. never heard of them.
  14. Thanks. and Deon'Tae is on the roster. Just missed him at first.
  15. One name is slipping my mind, but I was looking at the roster the other day. I did not see Junius (came with Newman Williams from SVSM) I did not see the DE from Buchtel we got at the end of recruiting last year Normally I'd right this off as them being redshirted so they arent on the roster, but guys like Kincade, Marcus, Alexander, and Williams are all on the roster... Anyone know anything about these guys?
  16. Thats awesome!
  17. Look, the season was disappointing for me as well. I forked the money and time over to go to Penn State. Watched us get our asses kicked by Marshall, lose to putrid Ball St, Buffalo, and even worse...Can't St. Saw all of our losses. But if you have nothing that you can look at to make you step off the ledge (Pitt win, hot start, actual hype around the program for once), I don't know what to tell you. I'm not happy with 5-7, but I sure as hell like it a lot better than 1-11. Speaking of 1-11, maybe Ianello left this program much worse than we ever could have imagined? Has any other program every gone 1-11 3 straight years? And please don't take what I'm saying as being an apologist, I'm just not as much of a pessimist as you all. In reality, we came up two wins short of what most people predicted. Big whoop. Does one more win make you feel better? It didn't mean anything. Most likely weren't going to a bowl, and even if we did win and get picked, we would have got our asses kicked. Our starting QB was out for 2 of those very winnable games that we lost. The team lost all momentum and never recovered. It happens.
  18. But the Browns suck and are in a playoff race and beat the hell out of Pitt and Cinci this season and just ditched their horrible 2012 draft pick after only two seasons!! They clearly arent doing it right! But lets just talk about the loser owners and GMs and coaches before them like it still matters!
  19. One of those QBs is currently ineligible and it makes zero sense to burn a redshirt 3/4ths of the way through the season. Nobody is talking about this season at all. The thread is called "Kyle Pohl 2015". Thanks.
  20. If you truly believe we are building something, you can see the positives. I haven't given up hope yet and will not unless there is continued stagnation or regression. To me a bowl game would be a huge step in building this program that has potential but has been so bad historically. I remember all of the articles when we first hired Bowden on the potential of the program. We were called the Florida St of the north, hotbed for football, etc. If you believe any bowl game would be a one hit wonder, then I dont know why you waste your time following the program and posting on here. I cant root for teams that I think will suck forever. Not sure how anyone can. One bowl game wont do much. But to me is a building step when once you get there, you rarely look back. We play in the MAC for crying out loud. Let's be real, its a shitty conference. An established coach at a program with the best facilities should eventually be able to win and win consistently.
  21. Hoyer is certainly better than Weeden, or anyone else they have thrown back there the past decade. But there's a reason he has been an NFL journeyman his entire career. I don't remember Hoyer's last "good" game, and nobody has turned on him yet (except the Manziel nuthuggers who never gave him a fair chance). Pohl has been in the system his entire career and has not progressed from day 1. You could make an argument he has regressed. This is nothing like what you are talking about. You play the best players. I dont care who you are or where you came from.
  22. How many of the Browns QBs have gone on to be successful after they were done in Cleveland? Obviously they haven't made any wrong moves with cutting ties with them.
  23. Have to look at the opportunity cost for declining as well. Going to a bowl game could give us that extra edge to get a certain recruit. Certain recruit could be/turn into some elite player. Elite player could win us a bunch of games which increases attendance and exposure which more than makes up for that couple hundred thousand we lost to go to that Boca Raton bowl. Accepting that Boca Raton bowl gave us a month of extra practice that half of the nation didnt get. Theoretically that gives us an edge over the programs that didn't make it. Someone posted a stat before that the majority of teams that make a bowl one year, also make it the next. Our coaches are coaching more and our players our playing more so that gives us more bang for our buck.
  24. You'll get the answer to your question when we see if Ohio goes or not. Yes they absolutely should have accepted if they got one. I have little doubt we would have gotten blown out, but this program needs all the help it can get. Going to a bowl game is a selling point in recruiting and a sign that the program is moving forward.
  25. You aren't a Browns fan so you don't know what its like, and every elite QB was unproven at one point. I'd rather take my chances on a high ceiling QB than a topped out mediocre one who leads us to 5 win seasons with one of the worst offenses in the nation.
