sorry balzy, but i believe in accountability rather than official blaming. OU sucks. They beat Can't St with on a last second FG. They have a former walk on at QB. The Zips have had a lot of calls and luck so far go their way in the game. I'll blame the coaching. Woodson should have at least 4 interceptions (2-3 pick 6s) so far, but he doesnt. He has played well enough (though not good) to at least give the Zips the lead, but the coaches are taking chances like we have our starting QB in the game; not our Freshman back up. Take the damn points we can get. I personally am not banking on getting another TD all game. I'd like Woodson to stop staring down WRs and release the ball quicker. He is doing a good job avoiding sacks, but needs to do a lot better. One inconclusive call not going our way shouldn't be the reason we lose to this team.

Ohio looks like a bad team. Most of what they have gotten so far has been luck or due to our D playing out of control. I think I'll be really disappointed if we lose this game. I can see these guys losing to the Miami and UMASS's

Impressive first drive for Woodson. Big 3rd down run and a few nice throws. I'm not sure the Touchdown was a catch..but I'll take it!

Well that's unfortunate. Two of our better players on D let us down that drive. Hopefully that was an outlier of what today will be like. We aren't going to win a shootout.

That would be amazing. I do believe Woodson ran a great deal of triple option at Gateway. At least earlier in his HS career.

I take it Vick is playing? If we want to win, the defense has to carry us. I think we can count on that. Just hope that Woodson plays well enough to score a few touchdowns.

If the Zips were in the same position as NIU (years of sustained success), I would be happy with 20-22k average and think that is realistic. Thats maybe a sell out or two against teams like Marshall and BG and a few dud crowds for games against EMU and UMass. I think that is realistic. If we are talking about the current Zips. I would expect it to be to be less, probably a good bit less. It takes time to changes people's minds about perennial losers. I would bet if the Zips go 44-10 the next 4 years, that 3rd and 4th year will be at that 20-22k average. I do think the Zips have potential, though most likely never realized, to have close to a sell out every game. I think the location of UA is a lot more favorable than Dekalb is for NIU. Dekalb is pretty much in the middle of nowhere with a population of 44k. 1.25 hours from Chicago. NIU competes in Chicago with Illinois, Northwestern, and ND. Akron competes with OSU and Can't State, but Northwestern is actually located in Chicago and probably not much more expensive since they are a joke of a program and OSU is 2 hours away plus a lot more expensive. Just because you are near a huge market doesn't mean you are going to have a ton of support. But I think support can be earned in a football loving area like NE Ohio. I wouldn't put Toledo's success up there with NIU's, but its still pretty solid. Not official, but with a quick look, they average around 20k attendance. I think the 20k number is very reasonable for us. I think Toledo (location wise) has the stacked decked against them more than we do. They aren't in a market near the size of Cleveland/Akron/Canton and are sort of in the middle of two schools with huge fan bases in Michigan and OSU.

It would be impossible for NIU to match the attendance from 04 and07 because the stadium only seats 23,595 now. The prior capacity was 28,000.

Thats odd. I was at the Marshall game and the student section was indeed exactly where Keener was claiming (I was in it). The University need to get it figured out. I'm tired of it changing every single year for football and basketball.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting read. Guy definitely seems a little out there, but it ultimately comes down to people not being able to think for themselves, IMO.

With your opinion of Bickley, what does that say about the other WRs on our roster? Do you not think they are D1 material? If they are, and Bickley isn't, why is he producing more than them? Its not like Bickley is a Tyler Williams who has been around for a long time and never produced. I'm not arguing that Bickley's stats are/were good, but its better than most other players at the position. Have to take what we can get.

Wasnt Bickley the 2nd leading WR on the team last year as a true freshman? 3 receptions from being #1 btw. Obviously a player his size has his limitations, but I enjoy seeing what he does once the ball gets in his hands. He made a great catch while taking a big shot down the seam last week if im not mistaken..

I'll wait to make my prediction once we get word on Pohl (if we ever get word on Pohl). Woodson didn't impress me much at all yesterday. He definitely could have played better.

Was just thinking about this today. At minimum expectations (beating teams we are clearly better than), we should win 8 games this season. This would be the most wins in the history of the program at the D-1 level.

3 more gets us to 7-5. I see 4 games left on the schedule we have no business losing. Other two are probably toss ups.
