He shot 34% from 3 this season in the G League - not elite, but solid. Iowa had him play the 5, 4, and 3 at different times this season, and he seemed to be most comfortable and effective at the 4. That's my biggest beef with Minnesota - they never really let him get comfortable in one spot this season. I do agree he has a long way to go if teams view him as a 3 in the NBA. His best shot IMO is finding a team who will let him develop as a stretch four. He's a bit undersized there, but I think he can overcome that with his motor.

You can achieve that without an open spring practice. A few years ago they had a concert featuring Soul Asylum and other festivities before a home game. The focus should be on improving the gameday experience, not on a spring practice that maybe a few hundred attend. Most of which are already long-term season ticket holders like @Captain Kangaroo.

I am saying - The Spring Game is a Nothing Burger, and UA is smart to spend their time on events that draw people and not flies. It is a waste of time to promote a nothing-event that no one cares about, and shouldn't care about. Watching a bunch of walk-ons practice is a nothing-event.

So you're saying making effort to involve the community are stupid. Interesting concept, and completely in line with how Akron currently operates.

It doesn't help he's playing out of position. He's being asked to play on the perimeter, which wasn't what made him impactful at Akron. I understand NBA size makes it impractical for him to play him at the 5 unless it's situational. It's just going to be challenging for him to make the NBA long-term (5+ year career) if he's being asked to play SF or stretch 4. He's hindered by the fact he's not 2-3 inches taller.

Spring football is a big "nothing burger" for all but a handful of fans. I'm one of them. Every fall a massive amount of players depart. Portal and HS replacement players don't arrive until the summer. In April there are barely enough guys on campus to fill a 2-deep. Many of the ones that play will be walk-on's and scout teamers...guys that will never see meaningful minutes in September. Kent won the Spring Game Marketing Championship, and will likely sell 2 more season tickets because of it. Great job Golden Flashes. FYI - "Kids Day in The Straight of Hormuz" drew only 6 fewer grammar-schoolers than Kent's Spring Game.

I know many on this board blame the Timberwolves. I do not. I watched several of his games and he is a good g League player but did not stand out. He plays the wing and was just not the impact player like he was at Akron. He needs to improve his 3 point shot, develop moves to the basket, and also get stronger to compete at the NBA level. His last few games where he was averaging a double double show that he was improving. It will be interesting if he gets another 2 way.

Anyone know if Wednesdays press conference will be streamed on facebook or youtube for those of us who aren't retired or self employed?
-
Hopefully this will keep him on the radar for another two-way deal (at the very least) next year. I believe players can sign two-way deals their first three years in the NBA. After that, things may get harder for him. But if he can land in a good spot for next year, where he can get some real playing time, he can prove himself and get a full-time contract.

Concord's Boubacar Djigo has committed to Marshall. That's one fewer Concord player @NWAkron has to worry about being on Akron's roster this year.
-
That's why Kent made it "kids day" and had activities for the kids with the football players being involved with the kids. Yeah, it was bad football...but I bet they made a couple fans for life because they actually tried to.
-
Yep, we are 100% in agreement there. Yeah, the game itself isn't exactly going to be the highlight of anything because it is effectively a practice. Which means the other parts of the package actually have to do work to make it a fun experience. And Akron has failed amazingly at that task.
-
He played well overall. Along with the 13/7 he also had 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. His +/- of 25 led the team.
-
Finished with 13 points (career high) and 7 rebounds in 26 minutes.
-
9 points and 3 rebounds at halftime in 12 minutes played.
-
Enrique is already getting some run tonight. 4 points in 5 minutes.

I thought theirs looked pretty empty myself. Casuals don't attend spring practices, at least not at the MAC level. The ones who show up are mainly the ones who are regulars anyway.

i wish the kid luck and hope he proves me wrong.

It looked almost completely empty. Spring games are bad football. I don't see how exposing people to bad football will make them want to come back for more.

Could potentially be a good pickup for them if he builds off a solid freshman year. Mainly needs to work on improving scoring efficiency. He seems to rebound the ball really good for a guard.
