Definitely APP-UH-LATCH-UN ! Thanks for caring. Our new chancellor was speaking to some group and pronounced it the other way (she is from Nebraska) and alum base was about to lynch her On another note, App Nation has the utmost respect for y'alls program. Many of us understand Terry Bowden's background (southern roots) and get the fact that he was definitely in rebuilding mode when he arrived. He has obviously done a really solid job of getting you back to where you are. I look at our tilt against the Zips as a real blue collar, bring your lunch mentality, game and expect to be entertained this Saturday. App has a lot of returning starters but are struggling with getting the young players integrated into the lineup , especially at wide receiver. Our defense is strong along the front 7 and our secondary has lots of upside athletically but have not gelled as of yet. Taylor Lamb at qb will not beat you with his arm but is a very reliable compliment to our rushing attack. Wish that we both had our top tailbacks in there this week but it is what it is....... Good luck for no injuries and hope that we do the same. Should be a really good game.2 points

Capt - thanks for this post. And thank you and all the owners and moderators for the work you do. I'm a big lurker and I read nearly everything that gets written on this board. I enjoy K92 and was not overly offended by his posts, but I appreciate his apology and do hope he continues posting here. As you can see I don't post much despite being active on this board for nearly a decade. I had to speak up when a certain poster crossed what I thought was a line. We've all supported Akron through some pretty dark days, and we know that getting whupped by Wisky is something we just have to get through. I'd rather try to stomach that loss without a fellow Zips fan sayin that I eat from Terry's butt or slob his knob. That was a truly smh moment. But... I've seen plenty of posters call out that nonsense and rally together. So thanks again to all the great fans and posters on this site. Go Zips and I'll quaff a stein with any of you.2 points

To all ZipsNation members - I want to put in writing the following - This site was created to allow Zips fans an venue to discuss the various athletic programs. There's no other reason. Rather than sit around with our thumbs up our butts waiting for media coverage, a few of us banded together and did something about it. It would be very easy to drop out and move to a back page of the MACbbs board like K.e.n.t. But I think that would be embarrassing. We created something nice here, with high functionality and a higher standard for content. When opposing fans visit our site, I want them to be impressed and think we are legit. I pay to maintain ZipsNation. Happily. I deal with all the a-hole opposing fans attempting to post, and a bunch of stuff that's invisible to the general public too. I'll sit in a dark Subway parking lot at 10 pm, after a 14 hour work day, talking to some Marshall Podcasters/bloggers to help promote the Zips and ZipsNation. Whatever it takes. Dr. Z has done yeoman's work to ensure to make it look sharp, and install upgrades. He also gives us great pics, which you don't get on other MAC boards. This site has to be about Zips athletics, and fun. It can't exist to cyber-bully other fans. I do not want good people to avoid posting for fear someone will threaten, or just be downright disrespectful to them. Can you tweak someone's nose? Yes. Can you have a passionate debate? Yes. Can you say "The AD sucks!" Yes. But when it gets to the level of "Meet me behind the church after school..." or "Suck <insert something lame>", that's not acceptable. It can't be. One of our posters was a bit out of line the other day, and penned an apology. It takes a man to do that. It isn't easy. It's 100% accepted, and we move onward. I've got around 10,000 posts here. I'm pretty happy with most of them. A couple... I wish I hadn't posted. And I've had to apologize. It happens. I hope K'92 returns to posting. The backbone of this board is the guy that travels to Wisconsin and posts a trip recap complete with a humungous soft pretzel pic. I wish we had 100 more of him. Times are great for Zips football. We've won 7-of-8 games, with the lone loss coming at Wisconsin. Compare that to the Brookhart recruits on Bowden's first team - they won 6 games in their entire 4-year careers! This weekend should be a blast. Great weather and a great home opponent. And I look forward to seeing what that guy under the scoreboard has cooking in his smoker.1 point

Don't let one or two idiots ruin what you have created. Keep up the great work. I'm glad I found this board as are all the other U of A faithful. Go Zips!1 point

Another famous NE Ohio sports screw up. It has to be right up there with the Browns thinking Belichick was a bad coach.1 point

Saban would have failed at Kent like he did with the Dolphins because he wouldn't have superior talent at every position like he does at Bama.1 point

Yes, well since Frenchy is a key component of our psy ops disinformation campaign we will see about "4 weeks"1 point

That's right. Some get upset if we are called Appy State. So we like to be called App-State, and Ap-uh-latch-un. And I have the up-most respect for your program, I saw the schedule this year and knew it was going to be rough the first 4 games.... Oh and by the way congrats on upsetting Marshall, most ASU fans love that...1 point

Great photo gallery on GoZips.com - Dr. Z quality. The shot of MTB stretching across the goal line on the first touchdown is especially noteworthy.1 point

I can't believe that we will enter MAC conference play with two of our members accomplishing the following. 1) WMU with TWO WINS over the Big 10 2) CMU with wins over a Big 12 and (possibly) ACC school. 3) Even Toledo, with two convincing wins over a more-reputable Mountain West school, and the school that's dominated the Sun Belt for the past 5 years. Yes, I know we've already posted all of the past wins against the Big 10, but can anyone document a time where there was one 3-week period where we had this many wins against "Power 5" schools?1 point

I'm pretty sure you're talking about this wild come-from-behind shootout that went to overtime in 2005, which was the MAC title year. http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=2526720061 point

Yeah if you're driving up here please don't go to a chain restaurant. Go to Luigi's, Lockview, Swensons or something of that variety mentioned above.1 point

In my building I recently had a conversation with a lady who lives on my floor. She's an old school Ohio State honk, but her and her daughter will be going to the game against App. State. She said it's the first Zips game that they've ever been to, but she said she couldn't wait to see the the team that beat Michigan, and the team that almost beat Michigan, play (not to mention she has heard good things about the Zips). It's probably because OSU has a bye-week this week, but hopefully the Zips can put on a nice show for them.1 point

Great video. Deontae Moore's hit was truly epic. Lord have mercy. I'm surprised Litton could walk in a straight line after that one.1 point

Their commitments were self-reported on Twitter, but there hasn't been a peep since then. I'd put them as questionable until something more substantial comes along.1 point
