  1. I bet I know something that would be even better than having Jason Taylor help with recruiting!!! Beat Ohio and BG!!!

  2. I am watching the Superbowl at Fidel Murphy's, an Irish bar on West bay road on Cayman Island. The Falcons are leading the Pats 21-3 at half and all I can think of is that the Zips need to have a hell of a Fall season, which I think they can do. TB's class this year is good but not great. He is far more shrewd than we give him credit. I believe he knows the chips are down and he is under-promising and over-delivering this fall. We could have a dynamic team that is improved on both O and D. My biggest concern is that he is committed to Milwee as his OC. I think Milwee is not capable of delivering what we need. History supports my feelings but that is TB's decision not mine and I support TB. I support TB and believe he is the best Akron can do. We are not he best progrum in the MAC. We are the best potential progrum in the MAC, but all on this site know that. I can't wait for the fall and hope the Zips will be kicking some serious ass. Keep the faith ZNO. Now back to another Caybrew Ironshore Bock. The best beer on Grand Cayman. Go Zips!

  3. 19 references to "Big Dog" in one post. Gotta be some sort of record. He lost some composure yesterday and it cost us. You can't let a bench scrub bait you into a T. That said, the panicked, horrific shot selection once he returned to the game is what really killed us. Not the refs.

  4. I think too - some kids just want to go away to college. I grew up in the Youngstown area, and would have rather put a bullet in my head than attended YSU. Pitt, Cinci, Marshall, Kentucky, etc. are all an easy drive from Akron, so kids don't need to stay in Akron for their parents to see them play. Schools like that are tough for the Zips to compete with in 2017. People can poo-poo them as "lower tier P5," but they're still putting guys in the NFL on a regular basis. and play highly competitive P5 schedules. Pitt beat Clemson and plays @ Heinz Field. Not much "lower tier" about that. I was pretty happy with the local HS talent we kept this year. If we could do that year-in-year-out, we'd be in pretty good shape. Still hoping for a couple DL's to magically appear between now and August though...

  5. It is listed in the watch espn app schedule. I believe that espn 3 is just the online version of what's on the app. But I could be wrong.

  6. It makes it harder on everyone. Both my wife and I have had to alter work schedules and appointments for some of this. It's not easy. Speaking of easy..... we've LONG overdue for an easy game. Let it be this one.

  7. I don't know, but I doubt if Kent is experiencing a Julian Edelman uptick in recruiting today. We, as fans probably overestimate former players influence over the recruiting process.

  8. Jason Taylor played for Akron before today's recruits were born. His legend would resonate much more with late 30s early 40s alums than it would with 17-18 year old kids. We need him to stir up fan interest, not influence recruits. Sadly, kids care more about uniforms.

  9. Urban is the one that put them in the pros. When Bowden is getting players into the league regularly you bet he will and should promote it. But no one at Akron right now had anything to do with Taylor

  10. Doctor, you appear to have aged, gained weight and gotten some ink and piercings done since I saw you last.

  11. Sure it does when you put stars into the league every year. Very few schools are in that situation.

  13. That would be the very definition of Jason Taylor :-)

  14. I agree Jason Taylor playing at Akron 20+ years ago will have little to no effect on recruiting. Everyone that coached and recruited him is long gone and perhaps retired. What will impact it is if we are able to produce Jatavis Brown type players. Guys that weren't highly recruited out of high school which Akron helped them not only get drafted, but become productive players in the NFL.

  16. It's probably a bigger deal to our south FL recruits. It would be nice to feature a special event with him on one of our big recruiting events and feature posters and photos of him on our social media and in jet locations for recruiting.

  17. Andre Williams plays in the 8A classification in FL. Those schools in his area average 2800 kids or better and that District is one of the toughest in the state with Apopka and West Orange. He is legit!

  18. I'm Dylan's HS coach. Jake and Dylan both live near Bainbridge but Jake attended Waverly HS. There's only one HS in Bainbridge. We're located 60-miles south of Columbus. There's another Bainbridge in northern Ohio.
