A trusted source has told me that Jojo ran a 4.35 and a 4.21, jumped 34" and benched 225 sixteen times at the pro day. The numbers should be posted after all schools finish their pro days.4 points

I got bit by the football bug last week watching the pieces of video that were posted and got my mind to thinking. Give me your top 10 players since Bowden has been here. Doesn't need to be a Bowden recruit. Doesn't matter if he was a one and done. Doesn't even need to backed up with statistics. It is your opinion. Beginning with the 2012 season through this current year, who makes your top 10 list? There are a couple of givens that will probably be on everyone's list, but it will be fun to talk about our choices. I am putting a list together now and I will be back to post mine when it's complete.2 points

My favorite play in recent memory was Jatavis Brown chasing down someone on Toledo from the other side of the field and laying the smack down1 point

Dumb move on Akron's part to pay more. If he doesn't take this 1) He is NEVER leaving 2) Already have money problems, why pay more for something that is already cemented in place? I like him and want him here, said it many of times. But it is dumb to pay more for someone that isn't leaving. Bad Business.1 point

I think Akron basketball peaked during Zeke Marshall's senior season. It was the best season the Zips ever had. Up until the Abreu incident it seemed like the Zips were going to make a nice run in the NCAA. Then we got blown out by VCU and haven't returned to the tournament ever since. After this past season I've been struggling with the realization that maybe the Zips will never make the tournament again. Probably never get to see a great Sweet 16 run or even a tournament win. This imaginary new arena is never going to happen. The JAR is a dump and no matter how much money they pour into it, we'll still have a glorified HS gym. Maybe Keith Dambrot had enough. I don't think Duquesne is a better option, but maybe he's just frustrated with UA. The same way a lot of us fans feel. Even though UA has a lot of problems, he won't have the same following in Pittsburgh. Lebron isn't coming to watch games in the Palumbo Center or practice with his players. The student body and fanbase is very small. A small catholic college in the shadow of a big ACC school that has a history of success in just about every sport. That city doesn't care about Duquesne. If you live in Pittsburgh you are either a Pitt fan or WVU fan.1 point

Dayton's arena is so horrible that the NCAA decides to play the 'first four' games there every season1 point

Why would Akron add money to his contract?... I would guess the program would be better off financially to have him grab bigger $ elsewhere, and his assistants, lose all their games, and draw 1,000 fans per game. College sports are a business-- and at Akron they are all bad businesses....very bad businesses. I cant believe that a total spending freeze, or significant cuts within the athletic dept hasn't taken place...maybe it's coming?1 point

DO NOT believe McFadden was a finalist. More of a formality to please YTown groups. A shake up is definitely needed. And IM sorry, but NO ONE on staff right now is a coach or HC material. NO ONE is involved with supporters like myself that wants to continue to donate $. Even as a guy on the business side, I see 0 personality/relationship and I can see the conflict of relating to the players during the games. And all we talk about and complain about is raising $$$ for an arena upgrade. Like I have said many times, KD needs help. Love he has stayed here this long and wish many more. But DU is planning 40M in arena upgrades to one that is just as nice as the JAR already, if not better. Probably over 1M per year. Closer to son... yada yada yada. Is UA willing to poor more $ to keep KD? There goes $ that we all should be going to area makeovers or whatever.1 point

Duquesne just approved a $40M renovation to the Palumbo Center. I wouldn't really say they compete for many recruits with RMU. They're definitely not more talented than Duquesne. For shits and giggles - Duquesne beat Pitt this year as well. Pitt also has like 5 total returning players after a mass exodus.. If the timing was ever right for Duquesne to do something with their program, this is it.1 point

To those who want a "Shake Up" in our staff, maybe this would have been a good thing for you if Rick left? I'm not seeing anything about this anywhere except a "reportedly" statement from the highly-recognized source called Hoop Dirt? YSU isn't even saying anything about the hire itself until sometime today. Now I'm seeing people wanting some young ex-players of ours who have never coached before to be our next coach? This is getting crazy, guys. It really makes you appreciate the longevity and success we've achieved with having Keith here for so long.1 point

O jogo bonito [The Beautiful Game]: Brazilian-born Victor Souto’s story of futebol — and soccer ...Souto decided to attend Akron because he wanted to go to a good school in the U.S. with strong academics and an excellent football program, both of which the University of Akron has. Souto met Jared Embick, the head coach of the Akron Zips men’s soccer program, when Souto attended a showcase in Florida in 2012. Embick offered Souto a full scholarship to Akron, a day Souto considers to be one of the “best days of my life". However, moving from south of the equator wasn’t easy. There were times when he struggled. He didn’t know any English when he went to school, but he “liked the way the language sounded.”... ...Souto only looks at his time at Akron with positivity and gratefulness. ... Whatever happened, I hope our coaching staff realizes how proud they should be of the difference they made in Victor's life and the path that they helped to set him on. Whatever the issue, he graduated Summa Cum Laude and has been working to do things right. Best wishes to him.1 point
