Nebraska's position on this astounds me. They are making noise about negotiating a settlement with a straight Face? Give me a break! They did not pay back any tickets to their fans but they won't pay us? This is the same Nebraska that gets $38 million from the B1G for their share of the Big Ten TV contract alone, which is exclusive of all other football revenue i.e. ticket sales, merchandise, loge rentals, advertising, concessions, parking, etc. Shame on them. Shame on AD Moos. Shame on their President. This was once a highly respected program. Not now. Don't give 'em a single concession Larry Williams!

Hey -- did I miss something here??? There was a kickoff -- the game started.. contract fulfilled.. Show us the money...

Yeah, I am guessing Moos is putting on a show for their fan base, who did not believe we should be paid, and will quietly pay us in full after it has died down. They went ahead and found an FCS team after their program started in the dumpster and we beat NU. They are quietly realizing that cancelation may have very well saved them further embarrassment.

I'm so glad this game is on FSO. My man cave chair and I have a date with the TV starting at noon. I'm fresh out of Bud Light (Dilly Dilly to the Browns!), but the drink of choice will be a smooth Sam Adams Octoberfest. Here's to another upset, and another week of flying the Jolly Roger!

I think I saw something similar during last nights Temple -v- Tulsa game. Temple's new slogan is "The Dark Side," & a couple of their fans had their faces painted like Darth Maul (kinda Temple's colors if you darken the red). Anyway, they had 4 students(?) dressed as Storm Troopers jumping around on the sideline all game. I pray this doesn't get as popular as Miami's Turnover Chain has.

Not only was it hot, but it was humid. Very uncomfortable just sitting and watching. Had to be really tough for the players. Great win on the road!!! Nice turnout of Zips fans, including Blair Gavin (2009 College Cup Zips), Saad Abdul-Salaam, and Tom O’Rourke (1986 College Cup Zips). DeAndre Yedlin’s grandparents (who raised him and nurtured him through the soccer development process) were also there. As were a number of other Zips fans whom I did not know. GCU sat us behind our bench which provided a very nice, supportive atmosphere for our team! So proud of the progress they have made. Keep it going! Go Zips!!!

I like what I saw in the 1st half. Good ball control, excellent strike by Egbo, and defense looks much improved with Muhammad on the right side.

Got a few minutes this afternoon to give some restaurant advice. Already gave some to folks showing up today to watch the Browns game. I recommended Wallaby's to someone else on the site. Both my son and I thought it was the best place for them to watch the Browns game on Thursday night. It is probably our best sports bar. Classy place. Great artifacts on the walls. Really good food. Local owners. Our most famous place in Hickory Park BBQ. There is always a long line, but never as long a wait as you think. The place is much bigger than it looks. Great food and ice cream. It will be packed with football fans. Again, local owners. Another place I'm hearing good things about is Jethro's BBQ (across the street from Hickory Park). It is new and claims to be the largest sports bar in town. Tons of TVs. It is the Ames restaurant of a Des Moines chain. A non-BBQ, non-sports place is Aunt Maude's. One of our best restaurants. Brick City Grill is also nice. Reminds me of a neighborhood hangout in a nice urban neighborhood. Bar La Tosca on Main Street is a great Italian restaurant. Great bartenders. Two bar scenes. One on Main Street will have more young professionals. The other is Welch Avenue in Campustown will have mostly university students. Olde Main (downtown) is probably our best known brewery (with a full restaurant). But Torrent Brewing (just off Main Street) and Alluvial (north of town) are better, but with no food. El Azteca is great Mexican food prepared by local owners. Two locations (one near I-35/US30 and one on Stange just north of campus). Stomping Grounds is a great place for coffee, crepes, but also mid-day sandwiches. Classic, tiny old school diner is The Grove on Main Street. May be open only for breakfast. Probably packed on Saturday. Tip Top Lounge. A vintage place for chili and drinks to get your day started right. Seriously, about the only time I hear about it is when someone wants to do some pre-tailgating! West Side Pub (southwest corner of Ames) is operated by a huge Cyclone fan who even sponsors a break during each game. "Say it with me, 'We Love the Cyclones!'" Jeff's Pizza on Lincoln Way is the best in town. Great, unique recipes. Great Plains Pizza on Main Street is also good. Make sure to put honey on your crust. Our local Wing Stop franchise is owned by Seneca Wallace. Browns fans know him. If you don't know who he is, Google "Seneca Wallace and The Run." Let me know what you are looking for (or like from these recommendations) and I'll try to give you more info if needed. P.S. I apologize to the local places that I forgot to mention.

I think they're all quite content with that trade off

What would you estimate the actual attendance was for the game? It seems maybe NW would be better off going on the road for a payday themselves.

For any coaching vacancy for any of the sports I follow, I'd want the coach that has the best chance to succeed. It doesn't really matter to me if they have ties to Akron or not.

My expertise is slipping these days. Just don't have the time!
