If Bowden does come back next year he'll have to personally pick me up, drive me to the damn games and put me up in a box with Kate Upton to get me to spend three hours in that tomb watching that mess.5 points

Not only do we have far and away the nicest facilities in the MAC, but possibly in all of G-5 football. On top of that, Akron is literally the epicenter of one of the nation's true hot beds for high school football talent. Why can't we be the Mount Union of the MAC? For the life of me I can't figure out why we aren't already. Just hire Mount's OC, for crying out loud. It isn't rocket science.3 points

The women's team has started out strong under first year head coach Melissa Jackson. They're 3-0 w/ 3 convincing wins thus far 49-36 over North Carolina A&T 85-65 over Oakland 77-60 over Northern Kentucky Here's an ABJ article following the win over Oakland: Megan Sefcik leads Zips to big win The article states that, even though Coach Jackson had been an assistant coach at UA under Jody Kest, she's changed some things both offensively and defensively & that, fortunately, the girls have all bought in. “The transition’s been smooth,” Jackson said. “The kids have made it really easy. They’ve bought in to everything. We’ve completely changed our offense. The defensive principles are different.”2 points

I wanted to take a minute to give a tremendous amount of credit to Coach Embick and his coaching staff. With 18 new players.....including 2 that had played 3 years for other programs, this had to be one of the most challenging years that Coach Embick has encountered. Without being able to see the match and just by following tweets and live stats, I would have to say that Abdi Mohammed was the MVP today. He scored the first goal and Marcel scored the 2nd goal on a rebound shot after the goalie could not contain Abdi's shot. This coaching staff was using Abdi in the midfield and up front....and they made the decision to move him to right DB. If you look back at the lineups for the first Syracuse game and the BG game right after it, Colin Biros was no where to be found. This coaching staff knew when young Mr. Biros was ready to contribute. Morgan Hackworth was not in the starting lineup for the BG game. Morgan has developed so much during his time at Akron. I never expected that Morgan would start and be a key player. Coach Embick and his staff know that Morgan is a winner. Tremendous credit to Colin and Morgan for their work ethic. I am not sure if there was an injury to Pol Hernandez but the insertion of Daniel Strachan into the starting lineup today really appeared to be a wise move. Daniel had several shots in the first half and he is a force on corner kicks (with his size) The zips soccer program is in good hands with Coach Embick and his staff.2 points

Craptastic on no stream. Heading to my in-laws side of Thanksgiving in a bit with father-in-law being a proud 'cuse grad. Can't wait to let him know what I think about his high-tech Communications program. Can't figure out how to throw up a stream given at least a day's lead time? Gimme a break. Shame on Colgate (another high-dollar private institution) too.2 points

This is the tension I feel. I like our defense. I've liked our defense for years!!! This defensive staff is a good one. But what do you do when the head coach won't make the changes on the offensive side of the ball that anyone with half a brain sees as plainly obvious? It's absolutely perplexing, irresponsible and downright disgusting. Bowden's stubbornness is taking a great defensive staff down with him.2 points

After the BG TD with 8 minutes left, the Akron return team went out to the wrong side of the field. I think that's a pretty decent summation of the leadership of this team. They were beaten by a 2 win team on their home field on senior day. Damn embarrassing.2 points

This is no longer a Milwee issue. It is a Bowden issue. The talent level on this team is no longer an excuse. Injuries happen to every team. The coaching staff is incompetent on the offensive side and demotivated on the defensive side. There is obvious detachment from the coaches to the belief in TB's leadership. Time to clean house. I'd do it tomorrow and eat the last year(s) of TB's contract. Name an interim HC and put ourselves in the market for the best available coach we can get. Eating the contract is probably better financially than have 2-4,000 butts in the stands. Sad it has come to this.2 points

Great win, congrats to the Zips! Mid season, did anyone think the Sweet Sixteen was a realistic possibility? Getting here is a tribute to this team's inherent talent and resilience.1 point

@ZipsVoice not sure how you read that as someone faulting the UA Admin for no stream. Just asking for a few more updates from the match. It's a shame that there are fans out here who care enough to want to be informed.1 point

NC A&T won the MEAC last year and only lost to #2 seed South Carolina by 11. They are picked to win the MEAC again this year, so that is an intriguing win.1 point

What an off-season we have coming up in NEO. The Browns, Cavs, and Akron will all be looking for coaches (I hope).1 point

I’m saying offer Pellini the head job after seeing what he was able to do yesterday, against our “ very good” defense (at least some Board Members thought so), and push BGSU to make him an offer, or i’d take him. 400 yards offense, utilized all sorts of different players, formations, play calling, innovating, leading, inspiring a bottom of the standing team, that had nothing to play for, over our sorry butts. How would you have liked to been one of our RBs or WRs that get no targets, no carries all season as well as last night while your Falcon counterparts are a part of the game plan from the start? I’d have asked him to stay behind, take him to the Diamond Grill and have a late dinner to discuss 2019 and beyond....but I’m not right in the head, so......1 point

Me and the guys could not freakin' believe it! It was like "which way did they go George?" time. Freakin' hilarious. By that time my disgust had reached sarcastic time, and I was spewing, and all of a sudden it was like "they're on the wrong side of the 50!"1 point

In an ideal world I'd like them to keep the defensive staff then clean the house with everyone else. That unfortunately is highly unlikely as any new coach will want to pick his own staff.1 point

Well that was 4 hours of my life I'll never get back. This was the first game I made this year because of work and family. It was like going to games in the iCoach era. The running game was sorry, the receivers were unable to pull in footballs placed in their hands (when the receiver and Kato ran the same play) the play calling left me scratching my head, and wore the defense down by not letting them catch a break. Fans were yelling at the refs for bad calls, that's not what stopped the offense. This is not the team I watched earlier in the season. Unacceptable.1 point

Was at the game. This had the feel of a team that had 'quit' on this coach. Nelson couldn't play ,physically. And didn't look like he really wanted to play after the first few series. KN do not let the door hit you when t is likely a new regime will be here. Sorry. I am not anymore a Kato Nelson fan.1 point

I thought this dumpster fire of a season was heading for the standard 5-7 finish, but I was too optimistic. Looks like we end up a 4-8 team.1 point

Bowden refusing to make the obvious move on Milwee has possibly cost this entire staff. Disgusting and utterly irresponsible.1 point

This has the feel of a team playing for a coaching staff that has been told they won't be returning.1 point

No, I am too cheap for that. Gave up my power bowl seats 3 or 4 years ago. I alternate sitting in the north bleachers looking right down on the bench with sitting at center court all the way at the top.1 point

A la NCAA precedent from when this happened to us against Northwestern so many years ago, shouldn't the game be move to Akron?1 point

Agreed. I'm tired of hearing Bowden talk about the "parity of the MAC." I don't want a coach who continually points out, "Behold! All the teams are virtually the same!" I want a coach who says, "This is a below average conference from top to bottom and we're going to make each and every conference member our bitch." Again, I'm getting on Bowden when my real beef is with Milwee. Our D's been pretty stout for 6 years now. Our O? Not so much. It's beyond time for a change.1 point

The Beacon article this morning was all so cheery and the only reason....THE ONLY REASON this game happened here is that poor ol' Duquesne, hosting the DIII NCAA V-Ball Championships, couldn't find another venue anywhere....ANYWHERE....between Pittsburgh PA and a High School gymnasium in Akron Ohio to play Radford, from outside Roanoke VA. Hell, there are three colleges/university within walking distance of Duquesne. Oh! We can give back the the children...the children of Akron. I've kept my trap shut about this, because I like Keith, and I like the I Promise School concept and I like LeBron and I do think he has given a lot to the city, but this whole thing stinks to high hell. To go to Ohio, com the day after the Zips won a home game at the JAR and on the front page see a picture of a Duquesne Basketballer with some schoolkids just makes me want to throw up the Eggos I just consumed (picture this in yellow )1 point

This team is beating bad teams the way good teams are supposed to. Not saying we're a good team (yet), and we'll find out real quick on Monday where we are at, but the margins of victory thus far are a good sign.1 point

After Kwad dropped that TD pass, the team collectively gave up. If it wasn't going to be easy it wasn't worth the effort.0 points
