  1. Here's what you need to do Danny. Get a time machine and fly back in time to the previous staff, and watch some practices and talk to the players. Then fast forward to the present and look at all the same things. Voila! The players care, the coaches care, people around the program care. That's not something I saw last year when I would go to practice and spend time around the players. But I'm seeing it now. If people don't want to believe me, then don't! It certainly could change again. As I said, I am not yet a big fan of this coaching staff, but they are doing things right in some places and I will give them credit. Organizational culture in sport isn't defined by a win-loss record in a team's first season. Stop being so myopic.

  3. Oh, so now we're expected to rely on people who go to practices and games and interact with the players as opposed to people who read two articles in the Beacon and the box scores every week?

  4. Zips win both QBs go for 290 plus. We get 3 or more sacks. And my fearless forecast: Lako scores a TD. I'm feeling optimistic.

  5. I recall an article where they talked about him working on some project as a part of his construction tech degree. There has to be a way to ditch that damn track, improve the upstairs sight lines and get rid of that stupid glass wall behind the reserved seats.

  6. Totally agree with you. The problem starts with the Oline. If the Oline does their job they keep the opponents offense off the field and that in turn helps our defense. Coach Arth and Coach Zagorski have done nothing that I can see to solve the problem which as I noted in the CMU game thread is the right side of the line. I am willing to give it another game or two with this unit to just see if they improve but there has to be a contingency plan if it doesn't. Every one of these players, Oline included, are working hard. If not, they should not be on the team. What it comes down to is the coaches ability to look at every player (regardless of years on the team, scholarship or not) and move guys into position for success now and in the future. If that means some player movement and eating some crow for previous decisions, so be it. Just get it right.

  7. Shedding the baseball athletic scholarships was the right thing to do. If they can still field a competitive team then great.

  8. I wish I had @Blue & Gold optimism this week. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Kato picks up enough junk yards in the 3rd and 4th qtr to clear 290 yards as I see Troy jumping out to a large lead fast and willing to concede underneath routes over the middle.

  9. Arth has no case for getting fired up when the question is asked about replacing O Linemen. I agree with him that a coach needs to expect his players to be out there every day working their butts off. But they also need to be effective at what they do. They need to show that all that work is making them better and they are prepared to do their job. This line has yet to show they can block. They have been bad so far. The numbers don't lie. Asking if other players should get a look-see is reasonable, even if it is asked by GT.

  11. Kato's been fine. There's only one person who thinks otherwise.
