  1. Interesting matchup to say the least ... usually in the past it has been Akron in the position of holding a lead over the field while others have to pull upsets behind them. As this season wears on it will be interesting to see how UT wears the target on its back. Problem is, with the bottom third of the league so bad - and UT playing all those former MAC West teams twice, (only playing OU-Buff once) it's tough seeing more than one UT stumble other than Akron. So, at most, three losses, but more likely two. Problem is, with the No. 1 seed as it sits right now, Rockets will play no better than Miami/Ohio before the MAC finals while some combination of Akron-BG-Kent-Buff battle it out to get to the title game against them.

  2. I even more enjoyed watching the reaction of his teammates. They were really enjoying his success which tells me this team is coming together. His frame reminds me of Jimond Ivey. I think you'll only see him in blowouts. He may have potential but this team is already so deep it would be nearly impossible for them to find minutes for another player.

  3. I really like what I've seen in Tre Edwards in the 25 seconds he's been on the court. Lol. I also like his build. I'd really like to see him get a little more PT than he is presently.

  4. One thing I noticed watching this is how much more muscular the Zips are than Ball State. Credit to our strength and conditioning coach.

  5. He's going to be a special one, I think. Learning under LCJ for a year doesn't hurt. It was a blowout. Rest him, keep him healthy, and let the 7 footer have some time to shine.

  7. Maybe 5-6 inches here, nothing that should hold up a game.

  8. Pippen is at 20.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg and 3.5 apg. LCJ is at 20.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 6.7 apg. They will both get a chance to state their case Friday night in the Brimfield Agricultural Exposition Center.

  9. It was great a few years ago when nearly every MAC conference game was on ESPN+. I not only was able to watch the Zips games, but I could flip to catch the end of some other games that interested me. It never gets boring to watch Kent lose.

  11. I love KD & in my mind he is responsible for making Akron basketball what it is today. He was responsible for bringing in Romeo, Dru, & Wood which really got the ball rolling. So even if he never makes a run @ Duquesne he’s always a Zip & ultimately can cry all the way to the bank. Lol.

  12. Dambrot would have gone back to making something in the neighborhood of $600k/yr. If I recall right that big bonus was a 1 time bonus built into his contract for staying past a certain date. I don't think it's fair to say that Dambrot left purely because of the money. He turned down the Duquesne job I believe twice and 1 of the Florida C-USA schools that were willing to offer more than what he made at Akron. He probably turned down some others along the way as well. I feel it had more to do with Dambrot knowing that his time as a coach was nearing an end and he wanted to experience a tourney run before it came to an end. He has said in numerous interviews that he doesn't plan to coach well into his 70s. His last Akron team was probably his second best team from a talent stand point and he was going to need a complete rebuild as Kwan, Big Dog, and from the sounds of it Noah also made up his mind to leave. Meanwhile, his fathers alma mater came to him and showed a commitment to want to win. Either way it worked out for us. It's still to be determined how it will work out for Keith. If he isn't able to get a tourney win at Duquesne then I'd say it was a bust for him.

  13. Jimond Ivey is just who I was about to say he reminds me of. Also wears #0 to boot.

  16. No wonder he stacked the schedule with cupcakes. Had to get his participation trophy bonuses since he could never do anything in March...

  17. Any idea if any of the four road games will get national TV coverage? I know telecommunications infrastructure in the greater Shalersville region is subpar, but I think Toledo is joining the modern world...rockets and all that stuff.

  18. The only ranking that means anything is MAC tournament champion (assuming there's a tournament).
