  1. ESPN is the $300 weekly stimulus check...it's welfare. MAC schools would rather sit and home and collect ESPN's checks than build their programs, market them and fill stadiums. It's a lot less work.

  2. great question.... like you, I always want to see the schedule several weeks before they get around to announcing it... A few schools have announced their schedule here is what I have learned so far...about the zips schedule Xavier will be playing an exhibition at Cub Cadet Field on August 15 (I think that is 7 weeks from tomorrow??) https://goxavier.com/news/2021/6/16/mens-soccer-announces-fall-schedule.aspx in a truly epic matchup, the mighty Indiana Hoosiers will be playing a regular season match up against our beloved zips at Cub Cadet field on Friday September 10th. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/6/22/mens-soccer-indiana-mens-soccer-announces-2021-schedule.aspx new conference member Georgia Southern will play at Akron on October 7th https://gseagles.com/news/2021/6/18/mens-soccer-announces-2021-schedule.aspx as of yesterday, I could not find any other MAC schools that had released their schedules speaking of releases,, I would also love to see an announcement about the incoming new players. Hopefully, the zips have some international freshmen...that we are not yet aware of.

  4. It's easy money when you have no other ideas and don't plan to stick around long enough to live your mistakes.

  5. Clark, you forgot to mention that the ESPN contract called for games to be played primarily in late October and into November. Rain and cold were added to no daylight yielding embarrassing low attendance. The casual viewer was served up a message that said "this conference is a joke, no one cares to attend". It's always a great look for Akron when there are more people in the band than there are in the stands.

  6. I remember back when they did the ESPN deal that the MAC Commissioner touted how it gave the conference long term exposure and stability. They saw the money and the long term stability and never considered what being held hostage by ESPN over the long term was going to do on the campus and community level with things like mid-week football. They still think that some guy with no connection to a school involved is going to tune in on ESPN12 to watch an Eastern Michigan/Akron game on a Tuesday from their recliner in New Mexico, and they'll tout the game as "nationally televised." All the while, the sports fan in west Akron never turns on or attends the game as they have no connection to their hometown team.
