Well, it would've helped had we actually won more of those games (Nevada... VCU... Oklahoma St.... etc.). I think this is they type of tourney Groce and the team need at this point. There were a lot of moving parts in the offseason, including the expected departure of LCJ. The same thing happened before last year, and the team never had the chance to really figure themselves out early on. This is their opportunity to do that this season.

Just because the tournament isn't strong doesn't mean we won't be challenged outside of it. We are at least playing OSU...

I like the Zips chances in this event, in part, because .......................................... The only noise coming out of Evansville lately is groaning from their fans. Their overall record in the last three seasons has been: 2020-21: 9-16 including a signature loss to Prairie View, 2019-20: 9-23 including 0-18 in conference, and 2018-19: 11-21. Fordham is the doormat of the A10 with 11 conference wins over the last 4 seasons. Rice is no powerhouse; over the last 3 seasons they have lost 6 more games than they have won. Vermont has enjoyed some success in the America East Conference which was rated the 22nd best conference in the country at the end of last season by Jeff Sagarin.

Do you have some ideas on how to get the general public excited about Akron football? Most on here even lack it and we are supposed to be the die hards.

If the way football has been hyped since Guthrie started the job I'd say his grade in marketing communication is pretty damn poor. With limited time before the first game every day lost in getting the public excited for football is a squandered opportunity that he bears responsibility for. I can't get too excited so far in regards to his management.

I do not care much about the uniforms. I care more about getting good recruits and having great coaching on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball resulting in 5-6 wins this year. Let's get the people at the games to view a good product and then move forward to multiple bowl seasons. Look at the roster, most of them are freshman and sophomores. I am looking forward to very good seasons in the upcoming years.

Glad there's another graphic designer on here! I'm not surprised that our minds think the same way. The Akron cursive script is literally a generic wordmark pulled from the Nike uniform catalog. The basketball team started using it and everyone else followed. It's disappointing. Not only have they ditched a great logoset, but the custom Akron font isn't even used on the new jerseys. Just a generic block font. Someone in the marketing department needs to get the school's branding back on track.

I think Mr. Guthrie is off to a good start.

Fully agree! We have the Roo and the Z, which are completely ownable. No one in the country has either one (maybe). Half the teams in the country use a form of the Ole Miss script. As a graphic designer, it drives me nuts.
