  1. I like this guy. He gives us another guard who can score "off the bounce," as the kids say. PG...Castenada..... Clarke..... Tavari G.....Hankerson..... Tribble.... Kobe G.... Dawson......... Johnson... Prather W.... Wynn............ ??? P.... Freeman....... Hunter And maybe we don't need another wing. We lost a wing in Ali, but as is our lineup now has the potential to mirror our MAC Championship '19-'20 team: PG: LCJ.......... Castenada G: Cheese.... Hankerson G: Banks....... Dawson S4: Williams.... Hunter P: Riak............ Freeman

  2. “The scheme that I come from is multiple enough that we can play with a four-man front or a three-man front and we’re just going to try to figure out what our guys do well,”...

  3. Hankerson is a good defender. He is also coachable and should fit in with Groce's system. Those are Groce's priorities.

  4. What we need is a 6'10" guy that is a slasher with a great shot that can play in the post or outside that handles the ball like a guard. 😁 Any other questions?

  6. I would have to guess we would start Hunter at 4 and Freeman at 5. At this point, Wynn is the top guy on the bench to get minutes there, as he's the only other one on the team taller than 6'5". Or we'll be playing smaller guys out of position, which is fine in the MAC but may run us into problems in the post season (or preseason) tournaments. I'd have to think that last open scholly has to go to a serviceable player with size that can at least take on 10-15 minutes in the frontcourt for Hunter/Freeman, or more in the case of foul trouble.

  7. Was he their best player? The only NIU player with conference wide recognition was K. Williams with an honorable mentioned. Overall I'm a bit disappointed, I think there is better talent out there but to each their own.

  9. Chris Bassitt got the season off to a rough start losing to the Giants giving up 5 runs on 8 hits in his first start with the Mets. He rebounded nicely with one ER (total) in the next two starts against the Diamondbacks and Nationals. He's now 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 20K's after his third straight 6 inning outing. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday in St. Louis which is scheduled to be on TBS. Then his NEXT start is slated to be on May Day, hosting the Phillies on ESPN. J.T. Brubaker was given the opening day start for the Pirates, his season also off to a rough start with a 0-2 record with a 7.30 ERA. He's been pitching to former Tribe backstop Roberto Perez. He should take the bump Sunday in Chicago, with the game possibly on TBS.

  11. 11.4 ppg last year on 37.5% shooting from the field and 35% from 3. 75% free throw shooter, with 3.7 Rebounds, 2.3 Assists, 1.8 Steals, and 1.8 Turnovers per game. 177 3PT attempts, 315 FG attempts, and 60 FT attempts. 13.9 ppg the previous season (exactly what Ali Ali averaged). What we lost in Ali Ali... 13.9 ppg on 46% shooting, 40.7% 3PT, 72.2% FT, 2.9 Rebounds, 2.3 Assists, .9 Steals, and 1.5 Turnovers per game. 118 3PT attempts, 359 FGA attempts, 133 FT attempts. Aside from the height (which may have been solved with Slammin' Sammy), Hankerson might actually be a better fit for this team. This also gives us another experienced Guard to help coach up 4 freshman.

  12. I would like to thank the owners/moderators/facilitators of this fantastic forum for the great job that is done to maintain this website. Over the past year, I have visited many of our competitor's web sites to understand our opponents, and I would like to say that the Zips Nation. Org is among the best. I have also visited forums of the professional teams, and this one is the tops. My only complaint is that there is only a small group of posters when I know there are many more active fans. Is there any way for the posters to communicate the fantastic site to other alumni and help to expand the number of posters? I like to hear most of the opinions that are posted, and I would love to see that number of alumni adding comments increase exponentially. Is there any way that the Athletic Department could sent an email to season ticket holders of football and basketball and let them know about this fantastic forum? I would hope that one of the owners/moderators/facilitators could possibly follow up on this request. I just want all of the alumni to know what a great forum that we have. Thank you very much. In Joe We Trust!!!!
