  1. This is an incredibly confusing statistic. How do you measure production from players coming in from a different system?

  2. Keep in mind, the transfer portal is going to eliminate a lot of high school recruiting for the foreseeable future. 1000+ players in the portal with tape/stats/production at the collegiate level. You're going to see better talent fall through the cracks, especially in college basketball. We were Ali Ali's only DI offer. Have faith.

  4. Looks like he is ditching the prep school route (maybe made grades?) and is going to be joining us this season. Interesting. https://gozips.com/news/2022/5/23/mens-basketball-amani-lyles-commits-to-play-hoops-at-akron.aspx

  5. I have been unimpressed with the effort 247 has put into updating the Zips portal activity, but believe I have discovered the problem. When the intern in charge of this task is named Jack Squat, you can't expect much.

  6. He blames the school for not notifying his parents of the 30 tardies? Doesn't he have lunch with mom and pop every-so-often? 30th time's a charm? I am as chronologically challenged as anyone I know...and there are far more egregious offenses college athletes have been charged with over the years than strolling into 1st period a few minutes late...but come on...just admit you have "senioritis" and didn't feel to motivated to get out of bed down the stretch. Slow news week for the folks at WFMJ to cover this "story." It's Youngstown...aren't there bodies surfacing in the Mahoning river, or Boom Boom Mancini bourbon tastings to tout?

  7. At the very least, he's a one year stop gap at back up...which is very thin. Best case, he returns to his freshman year form and challenges Irons.

  8. 2023 Zips Basketball Commitments: Darrion Baker, Stretch 4, 6-8, 195, Hillcrest HS, Country Club Hills, IL. Had offers from: Saint Louis, Drake, Appalachian State, Toledo 🤢, Illinois State, Indiana State, Valparaiso, Wofford, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Towson, SIUE, Missouri State, UIC, NIU, Southern Indiana, and Radford. Marvin Musiime-Kamali, W, 6-6, 190, Cushing Academy, Brockton, MA Had offers from Brown, Central Connecticut State, Albany, Siena, and Towson. Below, concerning Amani Lyles, is a mistake. Amani is a 2022 Zips recruit. But I won't erase it or the following posts correcting my mistake won't make any sense. Got our first verbal commit of the class of '23 #GoZips

  10. 4A is the top division in Illinois boys high school basketball. Glenbard West (37-0), which went wire-to-wire as the state's top-ranked team with a stacked lineup being compared to the strongest in Illinois history, accounted for 3 of 6 losses by Tavari's Lyons team (26-6). Lyons was eliminated in the state championship tournament by Whitney Young HS which lost to Glenbard West in the state championship game. At the end of the season Massey Ratings showed Lyons as the 10th-ranked Illinois team with Tavari being their only star player. Tavari's raw stats don't fully reflect the importance of his team leadership as opposing teams focused their defenses on stopping him. In his senior season he averaged 16.5 PPG, 4.5 assists, 2.5 turnovers and 2.2 steals.
