Don’t take a congenial conversation and make things personal @bigjim. Especially when you know nothing about my coaching record or my achievements. I stepped away from coaching, and definitely not canned as you incorrectly assumed, to spend more time with my family and the opportunity to work from home. Now my wife is pushing me to go back into it with my kids (somewhat) functional. I have more experience in the areas you mentioned than most. Outside of personal observation, which we clearly disagree on, there is no way to compare the two players without stats.3 points

At your suggestion, I read the hole post. Not sure we should recruit this guy because he is not very tough.2 points

Wyoming DB Keonte Glinton was offered today. Wyoming has been good to us, so we’ll see where this goes.2 points

His mom quoted Bubba Arslanian on Twitter and basically said that if you haven't seen him play, you're missing out, adding that she's stoked to have Jonas be able to play 1 year with him. Adding good families to the eternal Zips family is always good for the program. Wishing Jonas all the best in his Akron career.2 points

I like this offer. Wiley seems to have plenty of leg strength and accuracy (at least when not pressured). Something our PK’s lacked this past year past 39 yards. Smigel and Perez combined for 5 of 6 when kicking field goals 39 yards and in. 3 for 10 beyond 39 yards.2 points

Shoutout to @catdaddyp for taking a great message board and elevating it to the next level. Hopefully more Zips fans can find ZN.o as a place to not only discuss Akron athletics, but to learn and get coverage. Can’t get this stuff anywhere else on the internet. Thank you for all you do!2 points

This kid is going to be good. He reminds me of Pat Mahomes - technique could use some work but overall fluid, athletic, can throw in any arm slot, keeps his eyes down the field, etc.1 point

He would have to sit out a year if he transferred again, no? Also, I don't want him gone. Nick Chubb fumbled twice against the Patriots once. It's not like the guy was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct on the sideline as a backup QB. Fumbles happen. Off-seasons are there to learn and improve upon mistakes.1 point

You should probably take that "first team" thing with a grain of salt. He was actually one of FIVE QBs on the "first team." https://www.ohsaa.org/news-media/articles/division-ii-and-iii-football-all-ohio-teams-announced-161 point

You made this sound way more normal and subtle than it is. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35207429/mississippi-state-dillon-johnson-jabs-mike-leach-says-enter-transfer-portal1 point

Transfer WRs should be impressed w/ Ball Coach JoeMo’s offense & how successful all 3 of our transfer WRs were this year.1 point

I believe Ferri recruited him to 'Cuse, too. Filling SJL's spot with a P5 receiver would be nice...1 point

Life does not always unfold according to plan. It is very difficult to return to school. Way to persevere! Well done, Adam Najem.1 point

@catdaddypPlease don't be too upset with BJs rant. I think this is just a case of someone with an undistinguished career/life striking out at someone whose career/life he finds intimidating Unfortunately, this is commonplace. Sometimes successful completion of a Dale Carnegie course will help but there are no guarantees. My major criticism of Undercuffer is that he floats his passes.1 point

@catdaddyp has been one of the best, if not THE best asset to the football section of this forum. This is a disrespectful, trash response to a thoroughly developed post that highlighted a pretty important aspect of the discussion. I'm glad you saw a 1-9 record. I saw a number of 1 score losses that were enabled by a porous defense that turned it on for the final 2 games - ironically when JU was under center.1 point

Make sense conidering he appeared to be 5th RB at end of the year. Unsure what happened there, but he had some attitude issues with Arth even IIRC.1 point

If Buffalo pulls that one off, they have a mortal lock on the "Hoban pipeline"! I remember when Andy Hipsher was in his later HS years, even though he was heading to Akron, his dad thought it was important for him to go through the recruiting process. And, there's no guarantee that the next "Larry" Williams, "Curly" Wistercill or "Moe" Helsel doesn't succeed Guthrie and ditch Joe. Or, Joe naturally moves on from UA. A million things can happen between now and 2026 so I get why he's going through the same process as any other HS '26 talent.1 point
