I don't know if Ken Burns will be a good coach at Kent State or not. What I do know is after 24 hours at Kent State he will be able to produce an 8 part documentary on PBS about why Kent State sucks.

They don't need to leave the NCAA as the NCAA doesn't really receive any of the football revenue anyways. Without the G5 schools like Ole Miss, Rutgers, Boston College, etc would instantly become annual 1-3 win teams. The value the G5 has to the P5 is it allows their middle and bottom tier schools to pad their win total enough to keep fans interested. Perennially winning 1-2 games a season kills a fan base. We've witnessed that first hand at Akron. The Big 10, SEC, etc don't want that for their fans. They would rather just keep throwing peanuts at the G5 to keep their fans engaged.

He's a horrible hire. No high level leadership position while a coach. Nobody anyone recognizes. No ties to local recruiting as far as I can tell. Players will be unimpressed. He is going to fail in a big way. Polish up the spot where we keep the Wagon Wheel because the trophy will reside in it next year.

I agree... my only hesitation on the basketball side is if they opted to do this instead of the national model that was being talked about in the past. I would rather have more of a national pool of opponents than just one conference but if this was done because the national idea fell through or in addition to the national plan then I am all for it. In football I would like to see the MAC, CUSA, MWC, and Sun Belt conferences have challenges with each other on a rotation for one weekend. It would make the scheduling piece easier at least and still allow for money games and even a FCS opponent of one was needed in the other three non-conference games.

Finally getting the size we need at LB at the FBS level. Can't wait to see these two along with Griffin, McCoy and Fish as our LB rotation over the next few years. It's great that Bubba will be back one more season so that they can all learn from him.
