  1. Pretty good listen this week. - 14-3 score late into the 3rd quarter. Not the same situation in the two P5 games last year. - Knows the team has to push the ball downfield, but OL needs to block better and receivers have to get open. (I’d add the QB has to throw the deep ball accurately). - Not enough explosive plays on offense. - Still trying to find the right combination along the OL, but helps having K. Davis and N. Williams back. - Too many penalties and coach takes the blame for that. - Gathings had his best game. - Wants to get Golden and Walker involved more on offense. - Defense is playing physically and has a lot of depth on that side of the ball. - Nunnally has been the biggest surprise on defense. - Outside of the obvious performances, K. Thomas, McCoy, and Cooper had solid games. - Knows the team is outalented against a team like UK. Wanted to see the team compete and give themselves a chance. - Freshman Adrian Norton is going to be really good. - Some talented OL are being redshirted and some really good ones committed for next year. - Local guys Lewis and Durant played well. Wants as many local players as possible but they have to be able to play at this level and want to come here (he’s said this before).

  3. Much like the Browns, the Zips have play-calling issues as well where they're seemingly allergic to the middle of the field. I think the OL has the 2nd most room for growth behind the QB, so maybe it's just Joe trying to get some of the negative focus away from the QB position. Play-calling improvements could really help both positions. I figured it was a pretty simple, implied equation... Attacking the middle of the field + more RB touches = Touchdowns No thanks. Love this game time. The bulk of my day isn't taken up by a potentially ugly & disappointing Akron game, I can sit down after putting my girls to bed and relax with some aggravating Zips football, and if the game gets too bad, I can switch over to Penn State/Iowa & OSUcks/Notre Dame.

  4. More so than American football , possession time is not always an indicator of the result, The Zips were very methodical with the ball in the second half, O.K. Maybe a quicker approach in ND's end of the field would have gotten us a win. The methodical approach helped give ND's players time to rest, maybe not rest, but move at slower pace.

  6. I'd prefer it to be at 7:00 AM so that I have the maximum time available to cool down before I go to bed rather than try to sleep after I am p!$$ed after an embarrassing loss.

  7. I didn't get to watch, but sounds like a game we earned the W, based on shots and corners and all the comments here. It's a good sign that we are dominating a Top 10 team in such a fashion. Could a second star be on the horizon?!

  8. I think DJ has been disappointing so far this season as well, but Joe seems to be pinning a lot of the offensive limitations on the OL.

  9. I'm feeling pretty discouraged. We don't have a QB & can't drive the football. We & the Browns look to be in identical situations - other than QB play we've got a great team. Unfortunately, QB is the most important single position in all of sports.

  10. My friend, who knows much more soccer than me, said Akron passed on a handful of opportunities for shots. Another guy in the crowd shouted a few times, "Stop playing hot potato (with the ball) and shoot!" We controlled 99% of that match. It's a shame we couldn't punch one in.

  12. Rubbish. Zips allowed an inferior side, who looked like that did not even want to be here, lull us into a scoreless draw. We shot quite a bit; we could have and should have shot 50% more. It was there for the taking. This was the worst ND Irish side I can remember. Irish had nothing. Hope this match does not haunt us.

  13. Man. Notre dame goalie blew a kiss to the rowdies. He carried the Irish to this draw

  14. *Unless they've been on the field for 90% of the time because our offense has a gazillion 3 and outs and turnovers.

  15. Wow in both polls the Sunbelt has three of the top four. Only SMU and Akron intervene in the two polls. In the coaches poll they occupy the top three spots with Akron 4th.

  16. No more huge plays after the defense has put themselves an excellent position to get off the field. You know like no more third and 25s and touchdowns get scored on those plays.

  17. Chad is great. I'd like him to be the voice of more Zip sports. He is so passionate about Akron and knows his stuff.
