  1. Since 2006 (except for the 2020 season), a MAC team has beaten a Big Ten team every year. Barring a matchup in a bowl game this year, Akron is the MAC's last shot for the regular season in 2023. I haven't had a ton of time to look into Indiana, but I do know that they are in a similar spot to Akron. Offensive potential, decent defense, lackluster results so far. Odds are, Indiana will find a way to win this game by a couple of scores. But, if Joe & Co. sprinkled some magic dust over this past week and fixed the offense, the Hoosiers may be on upset alert. Indiana is wearing fancy special black uniforms, Tom Allen is on the hot seat, they're expecting to coast in prime time. What better time to pick up the next signature Moorhead win? It would be so sweet, especially going into a pair of winnable home MAC games. But, let's start with finding the end zone on offense and getting off the field quickly on defense. Let's Go Zips!

  2. I hope you're right. If the offense can get clicking and we stay relatively healthy as a team, this is a solid team. JoeMo is a well-regarded offensive minded coach, so you'd hope he figures out the right personnel and scheming to fit the right personnel out sooner rather than later.

  3. UA. 24 IU. 17 I think most hoped for a 2/2 start; this is our chance. The Hooshers generated a lot of offense without putting up points. That will continue this week. We will continue to show the need for much improvement, but do enough to fly the flag.

  4. I have to think that it's a home and home contract. How else would the Zips have a chance of getting them here?

  5. I'm not really sure where to post this, but the Pat McAfee Show is/was live from South Bend today. If you've ever watched McAfee, he has a member of his crew that does a damn near flawless Lou Holtz impression. Today, the most amazing thing happened and Lou Holtz got to interview Lou Holtz. "I graduated from Kent State and our motto is Can't Read, Can't Write, Kent State."

  6. Dear Baby Football Jesus, in your golden, fleece diapers. Please use your baby football Jesus powers to bless Akron with a miraculous offense. One with competent QB play and an abundance of touches for the running backs. We can only hope that with these miracles, Akron can pull off the upset and extend the streak of the MAC being the Big Ten's kryptonite. Woo! WOO! Owww! Amen!😇

  7. If... IF... IIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF... Akron magically finds an offense that can consistently move the ball, Akron wins this game. The defense is good enough - in fact the defense is probably one of the best defenses in the MAC, maybe just behind Ohio - to win any game they play. They need complementary football to get over the hump and into the Win column. With the epicenter of the college football world being in South Bend this weekend, just a few hours north of Bloomington and Touchdown Jesus overlooking in the background, it feels appropriate for a Ricky Bobby prayer... Competent offense: 31-20 Akron Status quo offense: 27-10 IU

  9. This recap sounds like the days of Porter. The biggest gripe was always "wanting the perfect shot" but on the flip side, teams packed the box because Akron was far superior. Hard to be mad if we're approaching the Golden Days again.

  10. All of the feels. *Think about how not only did these four seniors adamantly want to stay, but Ali Ali wanted to come back (and for the record, I think it's great Groce welcomed him back with open arms rather than being petulant and prideful about it). It demonstrates how much Groce creates an environment that players WANT to stay in, and that's worth its weight in gold. Yes, we will still lose players, including good ones who have a place on this team, to the transfer portal. But if we are doing that at a rate that's markedly less than other schools, how valuable is that? *I'm a sucker for weird/random trivia, and "Enrique Freeman worked in HR at the Rock and Roll HOF" is a great one. *Can't find anything about his Topps deal. Where can I get some Topps Freeman cards/merch? I'd rather support them than Barstool.

  11. Pretty good listen this week. - 14-3 score late into the 3rd quarter. Not the same situation in the two P5 games last year. - Knows the team has to push the ball downfield, but OL needs to block better and receivers have to get open. (I’d add the QB has to throw the deep ball accurately). - Not enough explosive plays on offense. - Still trying to find the right combination along the OL, but helps having K. Davis and N. Williams back. - Too many penalties and coach takes the blame for that. - Gathings had his best game. - Wants to get Golden and Walker involved more on offense. - Defense is playing physically and has a lot of depth on that side of the ball. - Nunnally has been the biggest surprise on defense. - Outside of the obvious performances, K. Thomas, McCoy, and Cooper had solid games. - Knows the team is outalented against a team like UK. Wanted to see the team compete and give themselves a chance. - Freshman Adrian Norton is going to be really good. - Some talented OL are being redshirted and some really good ones committed for next year. - Local guys Lewis and Durant played well. Wants as many local players as possible but they have to be able to play at this level and want to come here (he’s said this before).

  12. Yeah, tomorrow will be recaps of how much this team has improved, how we should be excited for the future, and other moral victories that are nonsense all capped with "in JoeMo we trust". Tired of this crap on the field.
