  1. Accusing Jared of playing for ties is ridiculous. It's also not realistic to blame all of our ties on the other team parking the bus which wasn't always the issue.

  2. I know that people disagree but this is why I would at least like to maybe try our young quarterbacks for the rest of the season or at least part of it. We need to know the future of the QB position going forward through game action with meaningful snaps. We know what we are getting from Undercuffler and Bullock and so it’s time to see what our other options are. We can’t just try to keep doing the same things we’ve been doing with the same terrible results. If our backups (who were recruited in many cases specifically by JM) are not good then we have way deeper problems that aren’t going to be fixed anytime soon.

  3. Otherwise people will be tuning in for some minor league baseball.

  4. For Jared to respond like this is unusual. He knows there are idiots out there who will use any medium available to prove they are idiots. Jared wants to win more than any of us. He is doing all he can to make that happen. Many schools, even in the BE, play for a tie. Coaches want to keep their jobs and if they can park the bus in front of their goal for 90 minutes they can tell their AD and fans that they tied mighty Akron. If I had responded to this person I would have ended with an F U. That's why I'm not the coach. He has more class and we are lucky to have him.

  5. They must not have agreed to play Wednesday night football so they can't get on ESPN.

  7. I mean, context is important. We lost our best shot at winning games by losing our top option at the most important position in football. The real failure this season is the staff's apparent failure to have even a playable back up. We currently have 5 playable scholarship QBs and the 2 the staff have played so far have been horrid. Very interested to see what the staff does with the position next season. A high profile transfer (for MAC standards) is a must, and we should probably send a few packing if they can't get on the field considering what those above them on the depth chart have done. Overhaul is needed.

  8. This is what the quarterfinals matchups look like....(when Sunday morning RPI's and records are included) Top Half of the Draw Georgetown vs. Seton Hall Georgetown is 6 in RPI overall record of 11-2-2 and 6-1-1 in leage Pirates are 63 in RPI Overall record of 8-5-3 and 3-4-1 in league St. John's vs. UConn Johnnies are 52 in RPI overall record of 8-3-5 and 3-1-4 in league UConn is 65 in RPI overall record of 8-7-1 and 4-4 in league Bottom Half of Draw Providence vs. Creighton Providence is 56 in RPI overall record of 7-5-3 and 4-2-2 in league Creighton is 99 in RPI ovcerall record of 4-6-6 and 3-3-2 in league Xavier vs. Akron Xavier is 62 in RPI overall record of 7-3-5 and 4-1-3 in league Akron is currently 35 in RPI overall record of 9-1-7 and 2-1-5 in league Akron was 27 in RPI before they tied a Butler team that had only won 2 games all year. Akron dropped 8 spots in RPI with a tie against #113 in RPI (Butler) If Akron loses in regulation or overtime at Xavier, I agree that they would probably drop to the mid 40's in RPI (Akron record would be 9-2-7) If the loss were to occur on PK's, Akron record would be 9-1-8...and the RPI drop would probably not be as steep as a straight out loss I view the game at Xavier as a must win for the Zips. If they lose in 90 minutes at Xavier, I do believe that the zips season is over. Georgetown is the only Big East team......that is certain of a spot in the NCAA tournament....even if they don't win the Big East tournament. The Big East is probably hoping for a Georgetown vs Akron final....as they are the 2 highest RPI teams. A Georgetown vs. Akron final would probably guarantee that the Big East would have 2 teams playing in the NCAA tournament. Practice your PK's this week, Zips. I have a feeling that PK's are in the future for the Zips in the Big East tournament.

  9. A quarterback coach breaking down when a quarterback is ineffective. Sound familiar? One of the best-ever explainers of how costly sacks are was David Cutcliffe. Now retired, Cutcliffe was the fellow who coached such unhesitating, flashing recognition into both the Mannings, first at Tennessee with Peyton and then with Eli at Ole Miss. Cutcliffe always likened the field maelstrom for a quarterback to “air traffic control, and it’s fast.” He wanted such decisiveness from his quarterbacks that he got impatient if a guy even hesitated over a menu. He swears he used the “menu test” as a recruiting filter. If a kid paused and said, “What looks good to you?” Cutcliffe crossed him off the list. The Mannings under Cutcliffe learned to make judgments in just three clicks, “Presnap, post-snap, alarm,” Cutcliffe demanded. Presnap assessment was about making sure you were in the right play and protection, or adjusting it. Post-snap, you had to make an instant assessment as to whether your presnap judgment was right or wrong, and if it was wrong, “go like hell” to get out of it, Cutcliffe taught. If you got to the “alarm” stage, “Now we’re bad wrong,” he explained. “If you’re not careful, what you end up doing is making a decision by indecision,” Cutcliffe said. “And that’s the worst one you make. Decision by indecision — you catch yourself flat footed while you’re waiting for an answer. Any time you hold the ball, you have already made a mistake, because the decision is going to be made for you. You’re going to be sacked or force a ball or quite likely turn it over.”

  11. I think playing the young kids may actually resulted them being more likely to stay rather than hit the transfer portal in the off season.

  12. Yes, but ultimately these are mostly Moorhead’s guys as they have chased out all but a handful of kids from the Arth era. Moorhead has dug deep into portal for kids with no success, ultimately playing them over talent that was there that I feel could have done better in several positions. Look at all the players that have left the past few years that have gone on to bigger programs and who are playing at their new schools. Position coaches are not doing him any favors either. Ultimately, it’s the coaches responsibility to get these kids prepared and keep the talent he has. Moorhead is just not getting the job done, period end of story. and I do not buy NIL deals and transfer portal as a reason for program failure. Every other team has to work within these boundaries as well.

  13. After the recent scrimmage results, the voters have changed their picks. Akron is now expected to finish dead last in the MAC.
