  1. Bought my Thursday ticket using the ARIZZOMAC2024 code. $19 after taxes for the cheapest one, which is fine because I can sit anywhere I'd like. Not a bad deal to watch 4 D1 tournament basketball games. Parking voucher is available for $16 (after taxes). I got one of them too (garage on Huron). No bad for downtown parking . The UMass folks will love our affordable tournament. 🙂

  2. It really is a great event, so thankful that it is in Cleveland. Rocket Mortgage is one of my favorite sports venues, especially since the recent renovation. I love taking a half day at work then heading up the road to watch some great competition. Although this year I took the whole day off on Thursday assuming we were going to play at 11am, who would've thought!

  3. When we played them the first time at the JAR, despite our relatively comfortable win, the Bobcats played extremely hard, and with the swagger that you've come to expect from OU's teams over the years. Boals clearly had not "lost the team"...they were just in the midst of figuring things out after some injuries. They play tough, and confident. If we bring a milquetoast effort, they'll beat us in Cleveland despite their marginal talent. No Zips guard is playing heavy minutes. There's no excuse for not giving maximum effort. If anyone is pouting over lack of playing time, they only need to look in the mirror. The 30 min/game starting guard positions have been open since November, and no one has taken advantage.

  5. I used the promo code, too. Got 4 lower Club level $42 ($55 with fees) tickets for $35 each. I called the parking deck last week and they said cost would be $10 on Thursday, so I am taking their word for it. If it's $20, I'm only out an extra 3 or 4 bucks versus Seat Geek with fees.

  6. As "pedestrian" as OU has been under Boals post-Jason Preston (comparatively), this is one helluva coaching job by him this year with all the injuries they've had.

  7. I'd like to think Akron is still the best team in the conference overall, and now is usually the time Akron kicks it into gear. Toledo, like others have mentioned, is a team I have no worries about in the tourney until they actually win it. Much like Ohio U in football. The last time the Bobcats won the MAC in football, the song "Fortunate Son" by CCR wasn't even a thing. (Ok ok, off topic) Kent and Ohio I think always have a chance simply because they have great history in Cleveland, and Ohio is a hot team at the moment.

  8. It's kind of funny looking back on some of the comments on this board from earlier in the season. In January people were trying to claim we would be a 10 or 11 seed in the tournament. Others were saying there was a good chance Groce would be leaving for a better job at the end of the year. Now it's more us praying this teams figures themselves out. What a roller-coaster of a season.

  9. It is impressive that you know so much about former members who exited the board so long ago. Sorry your friends ignored multiple warnings and still felt it was their right to trash the site that I helped create and fund. You say a banned member “disagreed” with something. When I wake up in the morning and review the board and see someone has left a profane string of all caps posts cyber bullying a woman, I delete them and issue a warning to stop. If that person doesn’t stop, they get banned. Technically they disagreed. But they did so in manner that is pathetic and inexcusable. The poster that gets liquored up and wants to fight doesn’t have a place on ZipsNation. Sorry. The lonely, self-important loser who feels I’m paying the money to run this site so they can bore members to death with incessant political posts doesn’t have a place on this site. Regardless of how interesting they feel they are. Your choice of “Che Guevara’s” is telling. Some of the worst people ever to stumble across this site. I enjoy the tone of today’s ZipsNation, the active members, the tremendous information and the respect everyone has for one another. If you don’t like it, I’ll give you your money back. Leave.

  10. Man we can't catch a break. Even in the official MAC standings before the season starts they have us listed last. Even though the rest of the league is listed alphabetically. 🤣

  12. None of Toledo's teams have been strong defensively. That's why they come up short in March. Offense wins games, defense wins championships.

  13. From my sources it seems like this wouldn’t be that drastic of a change if it were to happen. First off, they are simply looking for companies to partner in this, there aren’t any set up yet. Second, all student activities through residence life would remain in the same hands, it is their priority to not have any changes made to student programming in residence life. And third, if a company were to come in, it is also a priority to have the current full time reslife staff not be laid off but rather have them contracted to work with the private company. This story is pretty important to me, going off the username and all

  14. Can anyone find Vegas odds on a MAC Tournament winner? TeamRankings.com still has us as the favorite: 32% - Akron 23% - Toledo 21% - Ohio 11% - Kent With everyone else below a 10% chance to win.

  15. Of course I'm thrilled! It's actually about a hour but almost the first 20 minutes was waiting. Talks started in September, they talk about faculty, academics, academic and leadership consortium and our Chancellor jumped in as he was a product of the academic consortium. About building the next department head, deans, chairs, provost etc while Javier Reyes was at Arkansas in the SEC. Seemed very thoughtful, covering athletics, facility, students, campus vision. Not really much rahrahrah. Commissioner Steinbrecher was quietly on campus during a game in November and disappointed did not seem him. The investment in athletics will accelerate with 8 to 10 times the conference revenue growth. As our AD said, we are hitting the gas, no brakes. Frank Martin is a real team player, his wife ran track at UMass, football helps raise all programs and their budgets all went up from his career. Don Brown and Frank Martin had offices next to each other at Northeastern. They both recruit in programs that were at the bottom with no bells and whistles. You recruit players that believe in your vision, the school and not the conference. Looking forward to playing you guys, especially in basketball.

  16. Thank you. 3/4 of the match was so bad, I lost the little that was good. Malik and Ashton played pretty well. So much of the Zips offensive game was played on the left side of the field, Malik was often left open and could have probably had more of an impact. Why is our team so focused on the left side of the field and the long ball? They don't seem to be able to switch sides of the field like Zips Mens soccer teams have in the past. That coupled with the over-reliance on playing back to the GK puts our team in bad situations. Seeing this continue from recent unsuccessful seasons does make it tough to imagine a positive trajectory for 2024.
