  1. You may be right, but stating that him not knowing NIL is a reason is so irrelevant. It’s pretty simple to learn about NIL at Akron, there is none. Notta, zero, zilch. Pretty easy to learn how that works.

  2. Even with the cuts, the football program is funded at a level commensurate with many other MAC programs. If this season continues to disappoint, I definitely could see Moorhead seeking an escape clause. The reality in today's environment is that he will likely lose the program's most promising players to the portal after the season. Kickers will definitely get scooped up with NIL-laden offers. Most likely best linemen on O and D would be gone as well. In this new reality, MAC coaches must use their scarce NIL funds to retain players, and it's simply not enough to hold on to your stars. Ohio lost 50 players to the portal following a 10-win season. I sense Moorhead is looking for light at the end of the tunnel and it's not going to be at Akron or any other MAC program. Plus, isn't his son in his senior year of high school? No reason for staying in this region. Whatever the cause, I have sensed a lack of "fire" from Moorhead thus far -- he's either physically exhausted or simply frustrated beyond hope. If he leaves or is let go, I predict JD will be elevated to head coach as a convenient, semi-safe, cost saving move. Budgets aren't going to rise any time soon -- and the program just might face another cut due to continued enrollment struggles.

  3. JD being promoted would be awful for this program my god.. we're talking about someone who not only would be so out of his league when it comes to NIl and the current NCAA landscape, but someone who wasn't even in touch with the previous era. I mean folks, it was 2011 when he last had a coaching job and mid 2000's as head coach.

  5. From what I have seen the "linemen on O" would retreat to junior college or give up the game all together.

  7. My son attended one of those snooty east coast universities. The school in question focuses on top notch D1 basketball (and has been bad at it in recent years) while sending their football team off to compete in the Patriot League. While I know many in here would oppose such a move, with the changing face of college sports and the continued misery of this football program, such a switch is looking more and more like an alternative.

  8. A friend of mine is a financial planner. He submitted a 30 day notice to leave for another job (customary notice in his industry). He was due a bonus at the end of his term. The employer told him he was free to leave immediately. He said "Ok. I still get my bonus, right?" The employer said "no." So my friend decided he was going to stay the entire 30 days. His new employer wasn't expecting him to start for a month anyhow. The old employer subsequently stuck him in a warehouse with a card table for 30 days. My friend dutifully sat at his card table in the warehouse for 30 days, and ultimately got his bonus. I feel Guthrie is treating Moorhead is a similar manner. If/when Moorhead departs, be very scared of the next coach Guthrie hires. It has a very good chance of being much, much worse. The uneducated person with say "How can it be worse...Joe's only winning 2 games per year?" Trust me, it can.

  10. Intense practice. Tavari looked good. Josiah Smith Harris looks like he'll be our leading scorer. Skilled & definitely looks like he has a scorer's mentality. Seth Wilson is built like a bull.

  11. How do you leave off an absolute workhorse, who has been a staple in our roster for 4 years now?? Evan Wilson deserves better

  13. Over/under on attendance tonight? AK Rowdies have evidently disbanded, according to the scuttlebutt at the women's game Sunday....not that the students have been showing up anyway. I'll say 800.

  15. Lol I'll stand by my record on this forum since the day it was created. It's one thing to second guess a decision made by the AD or any other person employed by UA past or present, but it's never ok to make baseless character assassinations. But hey, ain't the internet great!
