  1. Every year I’m amazed how often this team tries to fair catch a punt inside the 10yd line (and often f*cks it up). It should be such an easy decision to get out of the way and let it go into the end zone.

  2. I totally agree. The line up of Gray, Wilson, Nate, Harris and okonkwo is a bunch of Thick Grown Men. coach Groce has a lot of options for line ups. We will see what ends up being the rotation by conference play. As I assume there will be a lot of mix and match in the non con.

  3. Exactly. Absent the contract pay-off fairy landing on the A Logo in the middle of Infocision Stadium, Moorhead isn't going anywhere until the end of his contract or the time he decides to leave.

  4. I admire your optimism. I find myself agreeing with almost all your posts. For this one I take a different view. I believe Joe stays, as long as he desires to, for the full length of his contract, which I think is 5 years. At the end of it he is gone one way or the other.

  5. If Moorhead leaves, I believe the top candidates are Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau. That's as plausible and well researched as that article.

  6. For those interested, something not mentioned in the posting is that it is $25 to attend.

  7. Perhaps he never finds that guy to run this particular offense? At some point you have to run a system that fits your personnel or the type of players he can get. With NIL and the portal, a coach just can't build and develope like before, especially in the lower tier of G5. At this point, whatever commitments he has for 2025 mean nothing. They can decommit in an instant. If they're worth signing, do they still sign to a team that's probably going 1-11 in year three of his tenure at UA after going 2-10 in '22 and '23?

  8. Still holding out hope for Moorhead. Year 3 and he still doesn't have a true dual-threat QB to run his read option. That's concerning. He's got a true dual threat high school senior committed this year, but when will he be ready to contribute? By '27? I thought it was a very light-yellow flag when Moorhead couldn't get an Oregon QB (not even a walk-on) to transfer to Akron to compete for the starting job. I believe Oregon had 5 QBs on their roster when we hired him. Did none of them choose Oregon because they wanted to play for Moorhead? We couldn't even get one of their walk-ons? But, anyway, I'm still holding out hope for Moorhead.

  9. He's currently a consultant with Vanderbilt. His resignation from NMSU is a bit cloudy for me. It was either because of health concerns or that the AD at NMSU had promised something (facility development?) and could not or would not follow through.

  10. Jerry kill is a program fixer. Very impressive. He's got some serious medical issues/concerns but I have not heard/read that he has officially retired.

  11. In addition, his estimated salary at LC is $1.5 million per year. On what planet does he leave the NFL for a coach killing school like Akron?

  13. The game changed when the Special Teams Coach sent a return man out on the filed for a punt, while it was hailing and we were up 17 - 0 in the 2nd quarter. Our returner attempted to field the punt on the 5 yardline...while being pelted with HAIL! The ball was fumbled and it rolled into the endzone. TD WMU. Unacceptable decision. Worse case scenario is should have been - we have the ball on the 1 yard line up 17 - 0.

  14. All those guys, outside of Frye, would take a pay cut coming to Akron. And I don’t think there’s a snowball’s chance Frye would come after having a realistic conversation with Moorhead about the state of program and expectations. If Moorhead is let go after this season, might as well start looking towards the FCS and lower ranks as no one worth their salt at the FBS level will take this job. They’ll realize the expectations are to win immediately, while having a shell of a budget to work with, and expected to win against P4 competition. After all, this thread was started during our midst of P4 competition. They’ll also have to refill the roster all over again as most of the talent that has been collected by Moorhead will surely bolt. Moorhead took over the worst roster in the FBS and has had 2 true full recruiting cycles. The first was hastily put together and It’s amazing he was able to pull in the guys he did to begin with. That said, we only have 8 players left from that class and only 2 players from the Arth regime are even starting for us. Should we have more wins? Absolutely. But we also had 3 losses built in this year. I do want to see a few wins to close out the season to show some progress in the win column. For anyone who believes it can’t get worse and have forgotten the path this program was on under Arth, here are his 2022 commitments and what they’ve gone on to do: QB - Amari Jones = Signed with FIU. He is still at FIU and has played a total of 10 snaps on offense. WR - Eric Holley = Signed with Toledo. Still at Toledo and is a backup. WR - Rahsan Murray = Signed with DII Cal (PA) Vulcans. Still at Cal and is a backup DB. OL - Van Keen = Signed with Youngstown State. He is still at YSU and became a starter this year. CB - Keyone Nixon = Signed with Morgan State. Currently N/A. S - Montarious Reed = Signed with Western Illinois. Currently at a JUCO.

  15. So it's the depth and the width!

  16. It's not just the depth - it's the size. This team has at least 3 guards built like Tyler Cheese. Not only will we have the depth to keep up with anyone in the back court, we'll have the size & physicality to wear down the opponent. Wilson, Gray, and Nate Johnson should be able to draw quite a few fouls in the paint and hopefully finish through contact. On paper, this is probably Groce's most balanced team, and I can't wait for basketball season.
