Caleb Borneo and Jack Sullivan and Remi Agunbiade , to me, were the bright spots in tonight's game. Borneo always seemed to be around the ball in the 2nd half.

  2. "What did he do to encourage attendance?" is another valid question.

  3. What a great day at First Energy Stadium! First trip back North in a while, and we timed it so we could see the women/men double-header. Not sure why the two matches couldn't have been scheduled closer so more people might have come early to watch the women, but at least gave us time to hit our Fave Swenson's - and WOW! Who knew? There's a Swensons now by the funeral home on Exchange!! Anyway, a pretty sizeable crowd for the women's game, and we got to meet some of the players at the autograph session afterwards. A nice bunch of women, and so many are YOUNG! lots of freshmen and sophs. As for the match itself, pretty good action! Adison Hall, a freshman scored first on a very solid goal. The second goal was a PK, and it was warranted, by another freshman Fineen Creegan, and she didn't mess around. Emma King's goal was a slow roller past a charging GK out of position, but it was still a heads up play by King. The defense was a little porous, but the women didn't quit or hang their heads when the opponent scored. Nice tempo, nice pace, some spacing needs to be addressed, and a little worried about the GK position, but a win is a win and Coach Kuhns was into it the entire match. I'm sure she knows she's being judged, but I found her approach and management refreshing. I'll leave the men's game analysis to the others to discuss.

  4. Agree that Sullivan and Borneo looked lively and skillful. Hopefully Ferguson finds his form soon... they'll need another scorer in the box. I've also thought Roman has been one of the more consistent players in both games - really like his hustle and ability to make things happen. Overall, the team looks like a group that's putting the pieces together so hopefully that means a big upside. Excited to see how they perform after a week of practice against a strong side in WVU!

  5. What exactly did Guthrie do to discourage attendance at soccer games?

  6. Hell yeah it’s game week! Looking forward to seeing this new look Zips team. Just one game, but I’d feel really good about this season if we start out with a win on Thursday.

  7. If, 4 games before the home opener, the article subtext shows someone is interviewing Joe Moorhead about family, movies, music and happy people, what additional details are needed regarding the frivolity? It sure makes me pine for the good old days of George Thomas.

  8. I'm ~140-145 lbs and my goal every time I eat at Rockne's is to wolf down a Mack the Knife plus the fries. Someday this will probably catch up with me, but that day is not today. It's very, very good. @DCPoke Ahead of the game on Thursday: - Welcome to Akron. I hope you have a nice experience. Hopefully the forecasted rain doesn't occur around or during the game. Temperature wise, it should be perfect (low 70s/upper 60s). Echoing previous posts, you cannot go wrong with Rockne's on The Strip in North Canton. - Much as you believe this Akron game will be a litmus test for Wyoming's season outlook, Akron fans have the same view for our season. We have been very competitive in the majority of conference games the last 2 seasons, but the wins have eluded us for the most part. We finished last year strong and are hoping to build upon that momentum, especially with a rare returning starting QB in Ben Finley. - I know you have nothing to do with this, but thank you to your alma mater for playing at Akron. For our fanbase, seeing a non conference D1 FBS opponent at the Info is like seeing a winning Browns season. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's special. Wyoming is a great opponent and when Akron makes the return trip out to Laramie, I'm hoping to make the trip.

  11. Thanks for all the recommendations! We'll see how it goes. If all goes well we'll be in the area around 2 p.m., check into our hotel and make our way to the stadium area. Looking forward to checking out your tailgating scene and meeting some Zips before the game.

  12. The first two years out of Covid were electric. Downhill after that, last year was horrendous

  13. Biggest game of the year in my opinion. I think if we lose this game Zips may not gain any traction or confidence at all. Nebraska is really going to try and run the score up for the home opener and send a message to their fans then go on the road to UAB. Duquesne is not a sure win especially after three losses if that is what happens, then 2 of the next three games are Toledo and Miami. Could be 1-6 or 2-5 right of the gate. Akron beats Wyoming now maybe they have some confidence and come out of the first 7 games 4-3 losing to Nebraska, Toledo, and Miami..

  14. 5-3 final was perhaps an "ugly win" versus a lesser opponent? Zips were outshot 17-10. 6-2 in Corners. But we scored the last two and held on for the victory.

  16. While I would normally agree 💯, but we are trying to help someone who will be spending less than 24 hours in NE Ohio. The ride back to DC could be extended a couple of hours with all of the bathroom stops after a trip to Swenson's.

  17. Dr. Goodrich is certainly enthusiastic and it’s apparent that he has the personality to build excitement and engagement. I’m hopeful for this new era of Zips athletics.

  18. Wow, there you have it! A fluff piece about Joe’s favorite movies and music is the extent of media coverage that we are getting going into the season - riveting! 🫠
