Shockingly, officiating potentially cost us that game as well with the PI in the end zone not called against Michigan in the final seconds. Michigan vs. Oberlin in 1892 has been a precursor for all these controversial results ending in Michigan victories. It was agreed upon prior to the game that 4:50pm would be the official end so Oberlin could catch their train home. Oberlin was up 24-22 and the referee (Oberlin substitute) called the game at 4:50pm and Oberlin left the field. An umpire (a Michigan supporter) said the time was only 4:46pm, so Michigan stayed on the field, ran another play that resulted in a 4 pt touchdown, and claimed victory. The following year, Oberlin coach John Heisman became the head coach at Buchtel (now the University of Akron).

It would have been nice to have this level of advocacy from the conference with MSOC vs. NW'ern in the NCAAT ~20 years ago, MBBALL vs. UCLA in the NCAAT, and FOOTBALL at Michigan in 2014. I think what the MAC member schools see is that WMU has a strong potential to otherwise go 13-0 and be the playoff seed for the lower level schools. If this loss stands, the MAC's best opportunity for that slot diminishes greatly, and each member school potentially loses out on hundreds of thousands of dollars of additional revenue.

It looks like the MAC has finally grown a set.

I am watching on the BTN, and they just gave a shout to Caleb Porter's Zips and death by a thousand passes when talking about excellent collegiate soccer. If there is a replay and someone wants to hear it, it happened around 30' left in the second half. Maryland beats Georgetown 3-2. Maryland is excellent.

This is odd to me after Steinbrecher basically stated Saturday night that what the Big Ten told them added up. I'm guessing they received some pushback from WMU and/or other member schools and wanted to at least look like they are fighting this.

Good point. I actually forget sometimes about Oregon. I used to root for Michigan just because of how much OSU fans hate them. But not after the past few years. Now they are just the lesser of two evils.

We were down to the goal line for a win at Michigan about 10 years ago. Given the weekend events, that situation looks impossible, even if we did actually stick it in for 7.

No, without making the other fundamental changes to stabilize expenses, they're going to need these games just to pretend to be afloat.
