When the Zips won the National Title in Santa Barbara I met Doc Nash (and sadly didn't know who he was at the time - did get a nice photo with him though). What a game to win on a night honoring him.

That's a season-defining win. Go down early, equalize right before halftime, take another shot to the nads shortly after to trail again, then equalize again quickly, weather their late storm, then find the back of the net for a sub-1 minute remaining goal. Heck of a win. Cornell monkey is off our backs.

Props to Embick and his staff on creating a tough schedule. #2 SOS so far that doesn't include WVU because of the no contest. Akron soccer is a gold standard in men's soccer - they deserve so much more support than what they get.

Oriol is in addition to Evan so there has to be some path for Evan to be eligible. I still am curious where Oriol's roster spot is coming from. As it currently stands, Akron has the best roster in the MAC.

Which is why I will still root for Michigan vs. Ohio State - the Suckeyes fan base is a miserable one and it's hilarious to see them deal with failure.

Bingo. The game winner was actually going wide by the looks of it, hit the inner right calf of the defender, and viola - GOOOOAAAALLL!!! Cornell's goalie was simply unlucky. Guessed the right way on a PK that was just buried upper 90 where he couldn't get it and then it's hard to defend against deflections.

Especially considering our 2nd and 3rd goals were deflections off their defenders... you don't always need a wide open look.

UM should drop from the poll. Even clock controversy aside the QB play was terrible and many other teams had more impressive week 1 results. They aren't the first team to fall in the rankings despite winning. They won't be the last either. You can maybe make the argument that some won't penalize WMU for the loss, but they're certainly not getting the same treatment as if they won. This is evident by the fact voters still have them behind UM in the AP poll. UM is currently 28th while WMU is 32nd. Without that clock mishap and WMU winning WMU would surely be ahead of UM in today's AP poll (probably #20-#25 since it would be one of the most impressive wins of the young season) and UM would have few to no AP votes.

That's the statement - or at least tone - that should've been set Saturday night/Sunday morning. Steinbrecher pretty much agreeing with the Big Ten out of the gate was weak & pathetic, but changing tune now that the court of public opinion is against their initial statement makes them look wishy washy at best without getting into any of the probable smokey back room deals that Steinbrecher has made with the Big Ten. If you're going to be a corrupt suit, at least have the cajones to own said corruption. He is by far the WORST commissioner in college athletics and nobody should let him evade that title just because he's "fighting" this now.

It would have been nice to have this level of advocacy from the conference with MSOC vs. NW'ern in the NCAAT ~20 years ago, MBBALL vs. UCLA in the NCAAT, and FOOTBALL at Michigan in 2014. I think what the MAC member schools see is that WMU has a strong potential to otherwise go 13-0 and be the playoff seed for the lower level schools. If this loss stands, the MAC's best opportunity for that slot diminishes greatly, and each member school potentially loses out on hundreds of thousands of dollars of additional revenue.

Rules only apply to programs like Akron, not programs like LSU or Michigan.

FWIW, there's a Summer roster on GoZips.com and it shows Mahaffey but not Oriole. They haven't officially announced Oriole though so that's not surprising.

Our first team was very competitive with their second team.

They hated Dillon Gabriel because they wanted Shedeur to start, not because Gabriel went to Oregon.

i also want to shout out to true Freshmen Leo Morana and Cole Perez who came into this high pressure game at crunch time and played as though they've been here before. 🥶🥶

Agreed the team is well balanced, and I love what every one of our players bring, however, I feel I must point out ... I know defense isn't the "glamor" side of the game, but watch all that Matthew Paiva does. Too bad his header goal at WVU was erased due the the No Contest.

It's hilarious to me how much OSU fans complain about everything Oregon. They literally hated Dillion Gabriel up in Cleveland from day 1 and were booing him last season. All because he beat them once, got drafted instead Will Howard and swept all the Big Ten awards.

That was true with the additions of Rutgers and Maryland. Nebraska isn't a major market nor has it ever been. They were brought in with the belief they would be a quality program that could compete with UM, OSU, and Penn State. In hindsight the B1G won't publicly admit it, but Nebraska probably doesn't get into the B1G today as there are other programs out there that are in bigger markets who are on par or better than Nebraska. UCLA only got in the B1G because USC said it was the only way they would join. Oregon was a no brainer because they are a large market, have a history of success, and have NIKE funneling them NIL money. Washington got good at the right time and were a decent travel partner for Oregon. Not to mention decent market. I don't see Pitt getting in over PSU in any situation. It doesn't really matter if Pitt plays in a major city. PSU is clearly the big brother in Pennsylvania. It's why it took Cincinnati so long to get into a P4 conference. Outside of their specific city the rest of the entire state is dominated by OSU. The same is true for Pitt.

I don't know the name of the system used, but I believe it's part of the GPS tracking system and picks up the data from the GPS trackers worn by the players.

For what it's worth I don't think they're going to run the table moving forward. In fact, I think they will lose to Boise State who they play before MAC play even begins. I was just speaking to the hypothetical that someone else proposed.

The premise of your argument was the loss helps their chances. A 13-0 WMU has immensely better odds of making the playoffs than a 12-1 version with a controversial loss. Not saying the 12-1 team couldn't make it, but it would need more help than a 13-0.

If anyone ordered from the first team store (that closed on August 17th), keep an eye out for delivery via FedEx. I just received my order and never received any tracking info. But it only took 3 weeks from the time the store closed to delivery, which was faster than the 4-5 weeks listed.

I hate every single team in the Big Ten and always will.
