  1. the one year "sit out" for an early transfer and immediate play for graduate transfer seemed to work well and appeared to be fair to all parties. Once you start making exceptions and consider things which are malleable like mental health (is he depressed because his GF dumped him or because his parent died) or crime victim status (was his Ipad stolen or was he attacked and robbed), it gets messy and arbitrary. And we would be singing a different tune on Zipsnation if it were Sincere Carry who transferred away and then came back to Kent and wanted an exception made for him. I think Pat Forsythe was allowed to play immediately (a lot of good it did the Zips) because his father died.

  2. There's no turning back the clock. First time transfers will never return to the days of sitting out a season. The only question will be - will the NCAA go back to just letting everyone transfer as they please with no limits and no sitting out? An easy fix to Clarke's problem - if a coach leaves or gets fired, players can transfer with no limits. Everyone else sits a year. It'll never happen...but that's the fix.

  3. I like the continued increase in national recognition for #25. This is the list of others recognized this week by the writer's association. Should add interest to our game at RMF against St. Bonaventure.

  5. Didn't mean to frame this as win the MAC, snag a win in the dance or the program drifts into oblivion. More along the lines of this is a really good team and it would be disappointing not to win the trophy in Cleveland and get to the NCAA Tournament. I guess it's the curse of the mid-major. Gotta be primed and ready those three days in March or the season turns to dust. That said, I do believe Groce will always find a way to keep UA competitive in the MAC. But this team has already shown it can grind out some tough wins. High hopes the rest of the way

  6. All I can comment on this topic is that we were having this exact same conversation last season. X was graduating, Scott, Ali, and Thornton hadn't signed, and a lot of people thought this season would be a rebuilding year. I remember people commenting that Groce would maybe try to leave for a better job while he had the chance. Now people are commenting that this season is the great team that is going to fall off. Just goes to show that you never know what the future will bring.

  7. Good call. They've just set up a system that has too much subjectivity. Move and sit a year or allow immediate transfer and take out the waiver/appeal process and debate.

  8. I'd bet in the 1950s there were some college football players making more money than NFL players.

  9. I don't have a huge problem with them sitting a year but at the same time a coach can move and coach immediately. At a base level, that seems unfair.

  10. Had Groce found a way to keep Jermaine Marshall we probably wouldn't have this thread.🙄

  11. I believe X Williams definitely sat out a year (with LCJ). Malcolm was a grad transfer.

  13. Let me add that there are 2 scholarships left that could be used by 5th year Seniors off the portal. And I haven't given up hope on Dawson for next year either.
