  1. I was answering a question that you asked... KenPom started his rankings in 2002. This just so happened to be the "last great year" for the MAC (PCCC Elite 8). The KenPom MAC average that year was 149.23. This year it's currently at 139.25.
  2. LCJ seemed to be the only one who could handle bringing the ball up the court when Tennessee St provided the full court press. I wouldn't be surprised to see more teams utilize it when LCJ is on the bench this year.
  3. The Zips travel to Reno this weekend to play 6th rated Nevada. The Wolf Pack are led by 6-7 F senior Caleb Martin and 6-7 F senior Jordan Caroline who combine to average 37.6 points 15.3 rebounds 4.3 assist. They return most of the key contributors who led them to the Sweet 16 last year. Game time is Saturday 7:00PM and can be viewed on ESPN3. KenPom has the Zips as 17 point dogs.
  4. The SWAC has better teams???
  5. Without Buffalo it's 149.8, which is still better than the MVC and just slightly behind the A10. You remove the top A10 team, which only seems fair, and they fall behind the MAC at a 154.3 average. The MAC strength is in its depth. The MAC is better at both the top and the bottom of the conference compared to those 2 conferences.
  6. I feel as though you're underrating the MAC this year. Below is a list of conferences and their average KenPom rating. PAC 12 - 89.75 MAC - 139.25 A10 - 148.57 MVC - 158.2 CUSA - 184.5 The MAC is so far having a better year than both the MVC and A10. When's the last time that happened? I'm guessing never in the last 40 years.
  7. No team has ever swept MAC and its not like the MAC didn't have some great teams in the 90s-early 00s. The MAC, even outside of Buffalo, looks really strong this year. I expect UB to drop 1-2 games. Hopefully they are to us
  8. Buffalo knocked off Syracuse to remain unbeaten. They play @ Marquette Friday.
  9. Yes, it would be nice to schedule more home and homes against C-USA, CAA, and MVC teams.
  10. Arth is half-time guest on ESPN+ broadcast.
  11. Good article. I liked hearing Williams say we need to recruit northeast Ohio. Too many local kids are going to competing MAC and other G5 schools. Lets find a way of keeping the best at home then go to Florida or wherever to supplement the talent.
  12. Isn't season tickets still cheaper than buying 10 single game tickets?
  13. I was just about to head out the door to go to the JAR. I think I'm just going to watch this one from the comfort of my own home.
  14. Pretty much it's stating that statistically the Zips have played better than their record indicates. Pretty much losing a bunch of close games, like the Zips have, will make you appear unlucky. Winning a bunch of close games will make you appear lucky.
  15. Any news on who will be on the coaching staff?
  16. Personally, I actually like them. I can attend the games and still make other plans for the evening. I kind of find it a bit strange that nobody complains about noon or 3:30 Saturday football start times, but a 2PM basketball game that last half as long is a big inconvenience.
  17. Highlight them on ESPN+? I remember under Dambrot our "Saturday" games kept getting flexed to Friday primetime. I can't imagine the MAC dictates our OOC game times.
  18. It's encouraging to hear he was able to land some guys who had what would normally be viewed as "better offers elsewhere." Hopefully he can do the same here.
  19. Why even bring him in to this discussion if you know he didn't jump straight from HS HC to D1 HC huh? smh Edit: On a side note I wouldn't be against hiring the Hoban guy as an assistant coach.
  20. I'm not particularly thrilled with the Arth hiring myself. I found it strange he was a candidate in the first place. I'm just giving the guy a chance now because he's our coach so therefore want to see him succeed. Dambrot was an Akron assistant for several years prior to becoming the head coach and had prior head coaching experience at both the D1 and D2 levels. Promoting an assistant coach to head coach is extremely common.
  21. I'd certainly hope Arth would be targeting higher caliber players than he was at Chattanooga. If not, this will RI 2.0.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or 2 of the Buffalo games moved to Friday evening to be on CBSSN. Not like that is any better though.
  23. I'm sorry when was I going back and forth with you on the matter??? If you look back this is my 1st post on the matter. All I was stating is when you try to present a fact don't present something that hurts your stance. You named a coach that failed at not 1, but 2 programs.
  24. And how'd he do there? Edit: If you're going to find an example of someone who jumped straight from HS to D1 at least find someone who did it successfully. Faust is an example of why we shouldn't higher a HS straight from a HS.
  25. What's sickening is Marshall came into the game averaging 5 less rebounds per game than their competition, which ranked them among the worst in the nation in that department.
