Not a P6 conference (Big East is a major basketball power), but the MVC still sent a team to the final 4 last year. When's the last time the MAC did that? It's a game I would have liked to win, but certainly not a loss I'm going to lose sleep over. I was more impressed with us playing with Clemson for 40 minutes. I have Akron finishing 2nd in the MAC East behind Buffalo. Time will tell whose forecast is more accurate.

Why do you feel like that considering we came within 3 points of knocking off a 16th ranked team? This team looks like a serious MAC contender from what I've seen so far. Illinois State was picked to finish 2nd in the MVC and Clemson returned 4 starters from a Sweet 16 team.

You act like we're in a bad place. This is year 2 of Groce, who inherited a roster that had 4-5 scholarship players, and we're already competing against the #16 team in the country and one of the best mid-majors in college basketball. We have growing to do, but I expect for us to challenge in the MAC this year. I honestly thought it would take Groce 3-4 years to get where we are now. IMO we're ahead of schedule.

A lot of people are going to try to point at our 3-point shooting percentage and justify this loss by saying we won't shoot that bad again. We shot that bad because we took a lot of forced 3's. We needed to move the ball better to create ourselves better looks.

That was a poor 3 point by Jackson on the last possession. I also don't like that we wasted 10 seconds already in this possession.

Can we please get Kostalec out of the game.

Unless Illinois State has a massive 2nd half comeback, it looks like that's who we'll be facing tomorrow. I'm not sure what to make of them. They beat FGCU who are normally a pretty solid mid major, but narrowly escaped a Chi State team that we beat by 40.

The player I would have liked to see more out of was Ivey. He finished with 4 points, 3 boars, 3 assists, and 4 turnovers. He honestly might be our best rebounder, which we certainly could have used more of, and we can normally count on him to get 10 a night. It just didn't feel he had the impact today that he normally does.

We had some early game jitters that ended up costing us. We got Marcquise Reed to foul out unfortunately about a minute or two too late. I think we could have pulled it off if we had just a little more time.

This zone is killing us. We're giving up too many offensive boards.

It would free up my Saturdays next fall as I'll certainly not be watching this dumpster fire.

Clemson is ranked and is a very talented team, but looking at their schedule I'm not that impressed. They've played 3 bottom feeders and they haven't pounded them like you'd expect a top 25 team to do. Sam Houston State is 2-3 and was only down 2 heading into half-time. Hopefully Akron finds a way to hang around and puts itself in a position to have an opportunity to win late.

To be fair, watching that offense can make anyone fall a sleep. In fact, I have trouble sleeping. Can someone mash up a video of our offensive plays against NIU and BGSU then share the link? Watching that will put me to sleep in about 5 minutes.

In an ideal world I'd like them to keep the defensive staff then clean the house with everyone else. That unfortunately is highly unlikely as any new coach will want to pick his own staff.
