  1. That's the ball game.
  2. Bowling Green gives up 43 points per game. We have 6 points at half-time...
  3. I used Fleck as a point to illustrate that if you actually have a coach that can recruit and develop players, you can turn a bad team to a great team really quick. I'm not holding it against Bowden that he hasn't had a 13-1 season at Akron. What I'm holding against him is we're in year 7 and we're pretty much at the same exact place that we were at in year 2 of his tenure. He made a giant leap in growing the program at the start, but it has been stagnant ever since.
  4. We were coming off a 5-7 season when the seniors on this team were being recruited. The same record we'll most likely finish with this season. Fleck turned a 1-11 WMU into a 13-1 team in a span of 3 seasons. It doesn't take 10 years to build a program. People on this board will still be using RI as an excuse 5 years from now.
  5. So Duquesne is going to cut a check to an Akron taxpayer funded school? I guess I don't see the problem here. That actually makes me feel better about this situation, not worse.
  6. I put the odds of Buffalo losing to 2-8 BGSU on 9 days rest at about 1% odds. That being said, for whatever reason we seem to play well against OU. Two years ago we went down to Athens with a WR as our QB and nearly pulled off the upset. Last year we beat OU at home and in my opinion they were the better team than us. I don't think we'll win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're in a position to win it late.
  7. I'm not really concerned. At minimum I'd expect at least 2 players to transfer anyways. That just has become the norm for college basketball.
  8. Overall, I feel most the criticism is directed towards the coaches and team as a whole. I've never been one to point fingers at individual players and I feel the rest of this board is mostly the same way. These are 19-20 year old kids who are playing for the love of the game and for a scholarship valued around ~30k per year. People need to remember that.
  9. If Buffalo keeps playing the way they have been, I can't see Oats returning next season. He'll have to be near the top of the list for teams searching for a new coach. It will be interesting to see what impact that would have on the Buffalo program.
  10. Hopefully Groce picked up on that and we see that out of the gate. Better to jump on a team early than let them hang around.
  11. I get that and honestly am not trying to start an argument with you. I'm just simply stating their pass defense is far from good and if we need to pass we shouldn't have any problems. As you can see below they're 100th in yards allowed per pass attempt and have the fewest pass attempts against them of any team in CFB. Claiming them as a top 10 pass defense is misleading because teams just simply don't attempt passes against them because they have so much success running.
  12. Bowling Green has a really poor pass defense as well. They give up 8.08 yards per attempt, which puts them well in the bottom half of college football. Teams just don't pass it on them (fewest attempts against per game against) because there is no need to pass the ball when you're able to get 6.1 ypc.

  14. BGSU offense has actually looked serviceable this year. It's their defense that can't stop anyone. Personally, I'm looking forward to the match-up of the movable object (Bowling Green D) vs the stoppable force (Akron's offense).
  15. We're losing to the upper echelon MAC by 2-3+ plus touchdowns. That isn't because a ball slipped out of someones hand or took a funny bounce. It comes down to the fact Buffalo and all the other teams that have given us a whacking had supremely more talent. I'm not sure if this is a recruiting issue or talent development issue or both. Either way this is 100% on the coaching at the collegiate level. Insanity is described as doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result. Through 7 years of this staff they have shown they haven't been able to field a serious MAC contender. That's an eternity in the world of sports. Expecting them to some how figure it out in year 8 or 9 is insane.
  16. The holiday tournament exemption allows for 4 additional games. The tournament itself is only 3 games. The Zips claiming this as part of the Cayman Islands tournament pretty much enables the Zips to have an extra home game. It's honestly fairly common for teams to do this and if you look you'll probably see all 8 participating teams have a campus game.
  17. They returned a lot of talent from last years team that knocked off Arizona in the tourney. They were already on many peoples radar because of that. Without last years tourney win they probably still wouldn't be in the top 25 right now.
  18. Who do you blame it on? The refs? The coaches are the ones who recruit the players. The coaches are the ones responsible for developing the players. The coaches are the ones who make the game plans. The coaches are the ones who call the plays. This isn't the NFL where coaches have to coach the roster their GM provides them. Bowden and Milwee hand picked every player they have on the offensive side of the ball. Edit: Nobody here is asking for Akron to be Ohio State or Michigan. We expect to be able to compete against the top echelon teams of the MAC, which we haven't been able to do and we're in year 7. Any other FBS school would fire a coach that has only had 1 winning season in 7 years, yet somehow the fans asking for change are the irrational ones? I'm done with discussion. Enjoy your 9AM tee time with Bowden & Milwee because clearly you guys must be best buddies to not see some sort of change is needed.
  19. I finally got my season tickets in the mail. I'll see you all at the game
  20. We need to do a better job of running YSU off the 3 point line. Overall, I'll take going into half-time up 2 given the shooting clinic YSU put on in that 1st half.
  21. If I wanted to spend money to watch a group of guys struggle to score for 3 1/2 hours, I'd take my friends out to the bar. I won't be attending anymore football games until we get a new coach.
  22. I still haven't received my season tickets. It's going to be a shame that I have to miss this one
  23. I'm not sure if I should use the laughing or crying emoji.
  24. I'd have to believe us agreeing to this game would forfeit our right to get the full guarantee from Nebraska. Perhaps we felt it was best to take the guaranteed money over going to court and potentially losing the case against Nebraska.
