  1. This zone is killing us. We're giving up too many offensive boards.
  2. It would free up my Saturdays next fall as I'll certainly not be watching this dumpster fire.
  3. Their size seems to be creating issues for us.
  4. Clemson is ranked and is a very talented team, but looking at their schedule I'm not that impressed. They've played 3 bottom feeders and they haven't pounded them like you'd expect a top 25 team to do. Sam Houston State is 2-3 and was only down 2 heading into half-time. Hopefully Akron finds a way to hang around and puts itself in a position to have an opportunity to win late.
  5. Yes, it says Men's and Women's right in the description...
  6. To be fair, watching that offense can make anyone fall a sleep. In fact, I have trouble sleeping. Can someone mash up a video of our offensive plays against NIU and BGSU then share the link? Watching that will put me to sleep in about 5 minutes.
  7. Reports are the Browns are interested in Condoleezza Rice ?

  9. In an ideal world I'd like them to keep the defensive staff then clean the house with everyone else. That unfortunately is highly unlikely as any new coach will want to pick his own staff.
  10. That's the ball game.
  11. Bowling Green gives up 43 points per game. We have 6 points at half-time...
  12. I used Fleck as a point to illustrate that if you actually have a coach that can recruit and develop players, you can turn a bad team to a great team really quick. I'm not holding it against Bowden that he hasn't had a 13-1 season at Akron. What I'm holding against him is we're in year 7 and we're pretty much at the same exact place that we were at in year 2 of his tenure. He made a giant leap in growing the program at the start, but it has been stagnant ever since.
  13. We were coming off a 5-7 season when the seniors on this team were being recruited. The same record we'll most likely finish with this season. Fleck turned a 1-11 WMU into a 13-1 team in a span of 3 seasons. It doesn't take 10 years to build a program. People on this board will still be using RI as an excuse 5 years from now.
  14. So Duquesne is going to cut a check to an Akron taxpayer funded school? I guess I don't see the problem here. That actually makes me feel better about this situation, not worse.
  15. I put the odds of Buffalo losing to 2-8 BGSU on 9 days rest at about 1% odds. That being said, for whatever reason we seem to play well against OU. Two years ago we went down to Athens with a WR as our QB and nearly pulled off the upset. Last year we beat OU at home and in my opinion they were the better team than us. I don't think we'll win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're in a position to win it late.
  16. I'm not really concerned. At minimum I'd expect at least 2 players to transfer anyways. That just has become the norm for college basketball.
  17. Overall, I feel most the criticism is directed towards the coaches and team as a whole. I've never been one to point fingers at individual players and I feel the rest of this board is mostly the same way. These are 19-20 year old kids who are playing for the love of the game and for a scholarship valued around ~30k per year. People need to remember that.
  18. If Buffalo keeps playing the way they have been, I can't see Oats returning next season. He'll have to be near the top of the list for teams searching for a new coach. It will be interesting to see what impact that would have on the Buffalo program.
  19. Hopefully Groce picked up on that and we see that out of the gate. Better to jump on a team early than let them hang around.
  20. I get that and honestly am not trying to start an argument with you. I'm just simply stating their pass defense is far from good and if we need to pass we shouldn't have any problems. As you can see below they're 100th in yards allowed per pass attempt and have the fewest pass attempts against them of any team in CFB. Claiming them as a top 10 pass defense is misleading because teams just simply don't attempt passes against them because they have so much success running.
  21. Bowling Green has a really poor pass defense as well. They give up 8.08 yards per attempt, which puts them well in the bottom half of college football. Teams just don't pass it on them (fewest attempts against per game against) because there is no need to pass the ball when you're able to get 6.1 ypc.
  22. 1) Drop down in upper right corner where your username is 2) Click "Ignore Users" from the drop down" 3) Start typing in username then click when it populates 4) click "Add User"
  23. BGSU offense has actually looked serviceable this year. It's their defense that can't stop anyone. Personally, I'm looking forward to the match-up of the movable object (Bowling Green D) vs the stoppable force (Akron's offense).
  24. We're losing to the upper echelon MAC by 2-3+ plus touchdowns. That isn't because a ball slipped out of someones hand or took a funny bounce. It comes down to the fact Buffalo and all the other teams that have given us a whacking had supremely more talent. I'm not sure if this is a recruiting issue or talent development issue or both. Either way this is 100% on the coaching at the collegiate level. Insanity is described as doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result. Through 7 years of this staff they have shown they haven't been able to field a serious MAC contender. That's an eternity in the world of sports. Expecting them to some how figure it out in year 8 or 9 is insane.
  25. The holiday tournament exemption allows for 4 additional games. The tournament itself is only 3 games. The Zips claiming this as part of the Cayman Islands tournament pretty much enables the Zips to have an extra home game. It's honestly fairly common for teams to do this and if you look you'll probably see all 8 participating teams have a campus game.
