  1. This is how I'd have it First Team: LCJ M. Jackson Turner German Teague Second Team: Cheese Flowers Graves Preston Knapke/Plowden/McKay (Not really sure on this last spot)
  2. I was listening to the radio broadcast after the game. I heard them say 2 Toledo news stations and the local paper were in attendance. I wish we got that kind of coverage for a home game, let alone a road game.
  3. Everyone still has 6-7 (in CMU case 8 ) games remaining. LCJ surely secured himself as being a front runner, but there are too many games remaining to say that he's already won it. The MAC POY award is as much a team award as it is a player award. That's why M. Jackson of Toledo, who has statistically been the MAC's 2nd best player, has no chance for the award. Regardless of how LCJ plays the next 7 games, Akron would need a strong finish for him to get it.
  4. Updated tournament standings.
  5. Four out of our next 5 games are on the road. It's important that we survive this stretch.
  6. Need to regain our composure
  7. BG now in the bonus with 14 min left
  8. Last year Zips held Turner to 0 points in the first half only for him to drop 23 in the 2nd half. Don't jinx us.
  9. Against a team like BG it's going to be important to get some quality bench minutes. They sub out a lot so their players will have fresh legs during crunch time.
  10. Yes, the PD downsized last season right after college basketball season.
  11. Bowling Green is going to be really good next year if they can avoid the transfer bug. The only seniors they have that played meaningful minutes are Frye (who left the team already) and Marlon Sierra (big that plays ~10 minutes a game). They have a lot of young, promising players that should pair nicely with Turner and Plowden. Huger has done a really good job of building a sustainable program.
  12. Akron's 1st 6 games of conference play is the best stretch of games any MAC team has played this season. We lost the Toledo game during that stretch, but Toledo kind of shot the ball out of their mind that game. We had some defensive lapses, but even the low percentage shots they were putting up were falling. Since then not only has our shooting regressed, which it was bound to, but I feel our defense has regressed quite considerably as well. I'm not sure if teams have learned how to attack our defense better or if we're just not giving the same level of effort on the defensive end that we were earlier in the season. We were 2nd in the MAC in defensive efficiency per kenpom a few weeks back. Now we're 5th. We need to get back to that hunger we had earlier in the season of wanting to have the MAC's #1 defense.
  13. Where are you coming up with that number? He's shooting the ball 31.8% from 3, which isn't good. He's also shooting 37.9% from the field and 68.7% from the charity. He's been an extremely inefficient scorer this season.
  14. I'd imagine Ali would be the guy because of his length and defense. Having Tribble or LCJ guarding Turner would be a huge liability. Edit: I'm actually of the mindset Banks will play. If his back is still aching, my concern is it will impact his shooting.
  15. I stumbled upon this graphic. As you can see below, the 2nd and 3rd highest viewing market for the Seattle - DC game were Cleveland and Columbus. This begs the question. When will the XFL expand to Ohio? There is clearly a thirst for more football.
  16. I actually watched a good chunk of the Toledo-BGSU game. I was impressed with Davin Zeigler, who is going to be the main beneficiary of Frye's departure. Losing Frye will hurt them some, but I don't see it derailing their season. Kind of crazy how he was hardly playing prior to Frye's departure yet he looked better than anyone Akron has on our bench. I guess that's a luxury of having lots of depth.
  17. Not all that surprising when you take into account they lost to Norfolk State and Quinnipiac. In their defense they were without Turner, but the ranking systems don't care about those type of things.
  18. I'd normally agree, but EMU came in something like 340th in the country in ft% and was making <50% for the game.
  19. I'm looking at what the standings are as of today. 8-3 is a better winning percentage than 7-3. I'll place Akron ahead of NIU once (if) they pass them in the official standings.
  20. I believe this is how the MAC is currently seeded based off of tie-breakers. 1) BGSU (9-2) 2) NIU (8-3) 3) Akron (7-3) 4) CMU (6-3) 5) Ball State (6-3) 6) Kent (6-5) 7) Buffalo (6-5) 8 ) WMU (4-6) 9) Ohio (3-7) 10) Toledo (3-7) 11) Miami (2-8) 12) EMU (2-8)
  21. He has no remaining eligibility left so it's not like he's doing it to transfer. Hopefully it's not because of any serious medical reason.
  22. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. We had no business winning that game based off of how we played.
  23. Well that's the game...
  24. EMU is trying to give us this game, but the Zips seem to not be wanting it.
  25. We should just put Sayles in the game and have him foul Toure whenever Toure catches a pass.
