The MAC does a lot of things that don't make sense.

I'd be surprised to see Tavari in the starting lineup. Before last game he was hardly even getting any minutes whatsoever. He very well might be the first guy off the bench. If he strings a few games together, he will eventually play himself into the starting lineup.

Yes, recruiting is a huge part of coaching at the collegiate level. I just don't see him being able to out recruit the other Big 12 schools as badly as he's able to out recruit the HBCUs that he's currently facing. He's running out his 3* and 4* recruits against teams filled with guys Rivals didn't even bother giving stars to. Edit: I want to be clear I'm not saying he can't be good at the FBS level. I'm just surprised he's getting P5 interest so soon. I would have expected him to receive interest from G5 schools.

Really, Deion Sanders? Don't get me wrong he has a good year this year at the FCS level, but his team was significantly more talented than anyone he faced. It's still to be seen how good of a coach he'll be when he's facing teams that are equally or more talented.

I know in football you're limited to only x-number of coaches on your staff. I imagine basketball is the same. In football they give people other titles, but they still function as assistant coaches in practice and on game days. I imagine college basketball is very much the same.

Marshall, granted against fairly weak competition, has yet to score less than 80 in any of their games. We're going to have to make shots if we want to win. This is going to be a very much up and down the court game. One that I think we can get away playing more 4 guard lineups. I'm hoping to see Tavari build off his last game and show he's ready to be a consistent contributor. Hopefully between him and Hankerson we can get that 3rd and 4th scoring option to complement Freeman and X.

Considering we're 2-9 I'd say it's fair to say there should be camp competition at pretty much all positions. Even at WR, where I'd say we were more talented than the majority of the MAC, we have key guys leaving so there will be snaps up for grab.

I think you mean our last 4 decades. You have to go back to Dennison to find the last Akron coach who left the program with a winning tenure. His last season was 1985...

I'd get the need for wanting size if we were being bullied and outrebounded, but we're not. The real issue has been the lack of consistent perimeter shooting. That's not to say I wouldn't like to have more size at the wing, but I don't see that as a reason for why we lost any of these games.

Kind of unfortunate we have another game next week. This would have been a nice high point to end the season on.

It would have been great for him to stay, but the portal under Groce has given us guys like X, LCJ, Banks, Cheese, Xeyius, etc. I'd say overall we've come out way ahead with it. Losing Ali was just the cost of doing business

Yes, Ali leaving is just what D1 has turned into. Losing Dawson was a huge blow. I was expecting this year to be a break out year from him and his perimeter shooting would certainly help open up things for others.

Point I'm making is those open looks are there because those are the shots the defense is daring us to take. Tribble is a career 18% 3P% shooter. Any 3 ball he puts up is a low percentage shot, even if the nearest defender is 6-7 feet away.

I feel what you're missing is teams are trying to force the ball out of Freeman and X hands. Hunter and Tribble are being given those open looks because opposing defenses don't respect them as perimeter shooters and looking at the numbers it's hard to disagree with them. The offense looks abysmal and unless Hunter, Hankerson, Tavari, or someone else steps up we'll have to win games with rebounding and scrappy defense.

I would like to see us attack the basket these final 4 minutes. We're already in the penalty and in a game we're struggling to shoot maybe we will have better luck at the line.

We're going to have to respond with a run of our own otherwise this is going to turn into a repeat of MSU
