Don't get excited. No news here. So our starters for next year are Poke, Jimond, Utomi, Parrish, and Aaron Jackson? Eubanks and Williams coming off the bench.
-
im sure you can get non stop from Houston to Baton Rouge. Maybe on Southwest?
-
Will they? Won't they? If the new coach has met with them and gave his incentives to stay and if fthey can't be like Jimond, Aaron, Utomi, Parrish, Eubanks, and Williams and support the new coach 100% then they should go.

Depends on where I intended to live. And depends on the school's reputation in field of study. I think with all these online graduate degrees having an actual post grad degree from a real university is solid on a resume. So slow news day?

Ugh. Someone told me that the team who scores the most points wins and that goes double in the MAC tournament.
-
Looking at it through the Dambrot prism, they are each separate and not connected. As for "winning" a lot of games, in the Dambrot world the wins didnt translate into anything else. I have no idea how I will react to a 15 win season. Guess it depends on how we win and lose. And I mean by how we win and lose...Are we still losing all the big games or are we winning some upsets. Are we losing and playing uninspired, feet in the mud basketball or is there some fight each night on the court . Are we playing to level of competition ...Etc.
-
Big pay out back to us if he leaves early. Did Dambrot get bonus for 20 win season??? If he did, that really changes my view on his scheduling. I don't think he should get bonus for MAC regular season title.

I know I can't hear that phrase, "Drinking water from a fire hose" too many times.

Well this I really can't spin in a good way. I really didn't know there were so many available slots for undersized guards. We now have likely lost four. And what's frustrating is that we don't know what is going on. What our leadership is doing to try and keep these players or find replacements.

I will miss Noah. No hard feelings on his decision to leave. I remember when he injured his knee during that Miami(Ohio) game. And I remember his ripping into the sight-impaired trainer. However, he had to know right then his playing career was going to be different going forward. Prior to that injury he had some great moves.
-
How was Noah at preventing the dribble penetration you guys talk about so much? Will definitely miss seeing Noah out there, but he might not have been a good fit with Groce. Did Noah or Antino have more steals? Admiring Jimond more and more.

Maybe it comes down to something as simple as: Keith Dambrot came along when the program really needed him. I think John Groce is doing the same. To reach the next level the program needs him. Keith brought us three wonderful MAC championships and those came with a lot of heartbreak on the side. Certainly, all the other MAC teams (Toledo or BG for example) would have loved those wins and those final appearances. But we aren't those schools and comparing our experiences to theirs is a bit of a false equivalence rather like comparing the basketball team to the football team. Just because they would like our level of success doesn't mean our program has to be satisfied with it. KD isn't "dead" to me. I don't know the man. But I thank him for leaving and allowing us to get John Groce. And over the last couple days I had the pleasure of actually meeting our new coach and his family. I never had the opportunity with the other coaches. They appeared to be high quality people (although, I realize they have experience in the public eye.) But Groce's mom is the the real basketball aficionado. She likes old-style basketball arenas like the JAR. We are going to have anticipation we never had before come November.

Zip ME someone reminded me a few months ago that this is an anonymous sports blog...so try not to read so darn much into my postings. You don't know me or anything about me.
-
Anything else? Are you finished or is there are some more accusations you want to throw out there? But unless Groce was there encouraging them I'm not that concerned. Dambrot did PLENTY to try and protect his players who got in these situations.
-
When all these bad things happen will someone please remind me to care? Because right now a possible future criminal charge on a player not yet on the Zips team isn't high on my priority list of things to care about.
-
Groce is a real breath of fresh air to this program. And our best player Jimond Ivey is obviously 100% committed to the new coach and Akron. He's being a leader and was front row center for the new coach. That is good for me.
-
Did he ask that or did EA?

I love this student reporting. They go to a source! I just read about some HS students in Kansas who discovered and reported that their new principal faked her credentials. GT sat at the press conference today and smirked and took notes. Whatever
-
And too confirm because I know everyone was wondering...his wife is definitely not a diva.
-
Saw Antino while leaving. Definitely not as committed as Ivey (just my impression). This Coach isn't going to put up with any nonsense. Some of the players may have had class.
-
Figures a freshman student asks the best questions.
-
Groce really recognising guys who showed up
-
Aaron. Utomi. Eubanks. Isaiah Williams. And another guy who didn't play last year. Antino swung by and left...But don't have best view. Ivey right up front.
-
Antino at presser. Ivey in front row

Today our good friend Elton at the PD (or is he Zach the Zip) wants us all to know all the bad about Groce. Groce is also known as a "Player's Coach.". Is there another type? Fans' Coach? Adminstration's Coach?
