ZipsVoice replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer

No Dre, you are right...I apologize, I forgot about Faust. You got me, but I do not think the Hoban coach would have been wise, IMO.
-
No you know everything about being a troll...you’ve been asked to name 1 Hs Head Coach who went straight to being a D 1 NCAA head coach....but all you do is deflect. Okay Wise Guy, name me one...
-
my Point exactly...I know enough to know Dre is full of what he thinks I know nothing of....okay Mr Know-it-all Dre, tell me which of your list went HS HC to D1” Hc directly? In fact tell me any one who has done so?
-
I won 4 straight FIFA18 EA Sports Premier League titles on my laptop....but the U didn't interview me to replace Jared Embick....I'm pissed! Yeah, HS head to a D1 head....I'm sure that's what you want...oh no, you just want to be critical of the Zips no matter what they do, I forgot.

I do believe the decision to let TB go was already decided before the South Carolina game, but I have been wrong before. And if I'm wrong, then the SC game meant everything in cementing the change of coaches.

None taken...you know how I feel about keeping guys around!
-
I kinda like this Griswold guy....he could really “light things up”, and put up a helluva display to the neighboring communities...

It was meant to be tongue in cheek....hence the emoji...

My fear (double-edged sword) is more 1 and done players leaving the Zips to play for the Crew! I want more seniors at Senior Day!!
-
That is what the press release stated....no, it stated they HOPED to have a decision within the next two weeks....correct? I don't know, just re-read the release and it doesn't say, but I know somewhere someone said it...really....not drinking yet.

Akron basketball looking up for the immediate future
ZipsVoice replied to zippy5's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Wow! I did not know that! Thanks for filling us in, am I the only one on the board who thought we got paid to be in? That is a strange concept for me to grasp.... -
Tom Wistrcill surfaces as the new Commissioner of The Big Sky Conference! How 'bout them apples?

Thanks for hitting the high notes here Captain. I was going to chime in....John Nemec is a class act, a real classy guy with so many contacts in the college and high school football arena it's mind-boggling. And you covered his position pretty much word for word what I was going to add. He was pretty set to move to Portage Community College but their AD (you guys think LW is bad...) put the kibosh on that, and then Coach Boykin talked to TB about bringing John in, and the position was kind of molded around John's talents. He would be a huge asset going forward, because I never got the feeling he was completely a "TB Guy". And his wife adds to the package as being a huge Zips supporter, hosts recruits and families, and all this while she works for KSU! John had Tra'von Chapman while at Kent Roosevelt. If you are going to recruit Western PA, this is a guy you want to keep on staff, had his fingers in the pie all the way out to Carlisle and Harrisburg.

Man...what a ride this has been. Thanks to a great bunch of young men, thanks to a great coaching staff, thanks to great support from the gameday staff, thanks especially to all the wonderful fans these guys and the program have for making it so special to attend a Zips game, or event. Thanks to UA for doing the right thing and hosting some nice get togethers three different times during the run. Thanks to the Ohio.com and Beacon for allowing Brad Bourneval to submit outstanding reporting on the season and the post-season, and for Marla for some great writing at the end. I'm a HUGE critic, but TennZip has shown me how to be the bigger person and admit when someone does something right, and they definitely improvd from past coverage. And thanks to all on this board who contribute so much to keeping everyone informed of happenings, inside and outside the touch line, for giving good, solid opinions, for agreeing to disagree sometimes, but most of all thanks again to these wonderful young men and Coach Embick, Coppinger and Kolba. Thanks for the ride Gentlemen, I don't want to get off...

I envy you guys and gals out there, but someone has to stay here and keep the bar open at the JAR Watch party! I can't believe the excitement level I'm feeling with just 3 plus hours left. In 2010 it was excruciating nerves, but tonight it just seems like excitement....not over-confidence. I just feel good about the level these guys have been at ever since the power-outage match didn't happen. It's been so positive, so disciplined, so....Zips! Fknbuflobo and I will be sat the JAR (won't we?) and I just watched the Browns win a big one, so bring it home, Boys, and bring it home ZN posters....we'll be waiting when you return, with the Cup!

I gave examples...you just give vitriol. And not a name of an AD who has “changed the way the MACdoes things”....
-
Now it’s the AD’s job to “advocate changes in the way the MAC does things”....which MAC AD do you know of that has done so? He could have knee-jerked o the women’s soccer coach after the last two seasons but didn’t...and this season the program turned it around and made the MAC tournament. Swimming and diving have thrived and have won 5 straight MACs, nationally ranked, and can recruit globally, and he supports that program. Track and field has only gotten stronger since his arrival, and another case of global recruitment. 3 of the last 4 College Cup final fours.....yeah, nothing really notable. I know you hate that Bowden’s gone, but lashing out to try to blame others is not the answer....
-
Nope...never got big enough. In fact attendance was slightly under the Staford game....guessing it might be more Sunday.
-
PLEASE ... stop the constant injuries excuses!!! You honestly don’t think there’s reasons within Bowden’s control that led to his dismissal? What blind loyalty, but terribly misguided...
