  1. Is that you doing the interview with LK?
  2. Didn't know he had de-committed from Virginia. I'm interested! He must have at least one solid offer to de-commit, no? Recruiting is a strange game. Just my 2 cents on what his decommitment might mean: You could very well be right about him having a solid offer for football elsewhere but... You can really never get a good "read" on the tea leaves unless you have inside information (family, etc.). It could be that he decommitted so that other schools who might be interested would continue to recruit him. Some schools will move on to other targets if a guy is committed. For blue chip players and P5 programs, that's obviously not the case as coaches will continue to try to get those guys often into the wee hours before singing day. For the other 99% of prospects, if you appear to be locked into a school, some programs will not waste the time/energy in trying to "flip" you. So, maybe he wanted to show programs he was available; especially as a football prospect.
  3. Merry Christmas to us all... Or Happy Hanukkah... Or [fill in the blank]... It all adds up to MORE ZIPS FOOTBALL!!
  4. #GoNavyBeatArmy
  5. Amen to that.
  6. well, interesting... someone tweeted (and Zips Nation retweeted) FAU in Boca Raton.. not sure that's accurate either. I'm going to wait for my text
  7. A-State's twitter account leaked it about an hour ago... Wasn't sure if that was 100% confirmed though.
  8. What 94 said up above.. Camellia bowl here we come.
  9. watching Twitter is always an almost instant notification too but I wanted to watch
  10. Same, I have someone who shoud be texting me the info but can't find any online resource to watch it myself.
  11. Oh geeze, my eyes are worse than I thought. I thought Council was a senior... DUH me! I better go back and look at that roster again... I thought we were losing 4 of the 5 to graduation. Just put me on ignore I agree, I think Council has been outstanding! In that case, maybe the OL isn't as much of a "rebuild" as I was thinking. They'll still have to get that chemistry working as a unit but definite upside.
  12. You know, our defense is really young in that we'll return a lot of key starters on that side of the ball. The Zips' ability to win some games people discounted them is a direct result of this defense really holding up their end of the bargain. Sure, as fans we want to see 40+ points by a prolific offense because it's exciting but I would think going into next year the defense will be one of the better units in the MAC - '85 Bears!! Offensively, it really hurt us to lose Ball early and our running game wasn't nearly as dynamic as everyone expected it to be with him carrying the load but the other guys have stepped in admirably and effectively by committee. I think we've found some young guys to contribute on offense too and going into next year, I'm very excited about the makeup of this team. I really think they can make some serious noise next year if we get a few pieces figured out on offense and some of the young guys can step up. OL is probably the position groups where we lose the most starters without having seen some of the younger guys and what they can do. WR I would have said coming into the year would be a challenge for next year, but we've seen some young guys get playing time and play well with limited opportunities. I can't imagine any 2018 OL guys would be ready to play as true freshmen, but we did have some 2017 OL guys that looked impressive. Can it just be #ZipsGameDay already??
  13. Yeah, I thought Kyron was OUTSTANDING! I didn't see any other CBs that I would have liked more than him. He's fast, good ball skills, always seems to have great leverage/position on the WR, fluid hips, GREAT feet! I agree with you that he's completely overlooked. Good news is, he'll be back next year =)
  14. I'm glad @Section210Zip posted the text of that email as I didn't know what time the pre-game party started. We were originally going to stay Friday night in Detroit but we've since decided to drive up to Akron Friday and drive to the game and back to Akron on Saturday. Anyone else buy tickets for the Pregame Party?
  15. @LZIp - I called Monday and they said that they'd be emailing with info but I haven't received anything yet. The rep stated that they would have their allotment of tickets and then the seating assignments based on Z-Fund points by Thursday and would then have the tickets at InfoCision. I told them I would not be able to pick them up on campus as I live out of state and they told me that any tickets not picked up would be available at the Ford Field Will-Call on Saturday morning.
  16. Early Signing Day Info TL;DR
  17. Thanks man.. I was thinking more along the lines of good neighborhood/bad neighborhood more than proximity to the stadium. I know Detroit can be a tough city and I just didn't know if there were neighborhoods/areas to clearly stay away from.
  18. Look at those battle scars on that thing - AWESOME! We'll grab that torch man!!
  19. On another note, anyone have a good idea of good places to stay in Detroit? We were booking hotel but thought we might ask about location as downtown around the stadium may not be the best area?? Any advice on a good location not too far from Ford Field?
  20. Ticket office really didn't have much info (like you said) other than, "yeah, they'll be some food, etc." I gave him my CC # and got the tix and party pass anyway I figured the cost of the party would just be a donation to the cause. Oh, I thought y'all knew. He's a freshman, redshirting this year, plays a position that starts with the letter Q, he's significantly taller than me BUT, I'm much better looking That being said, I'm TEAM first; I believe the coaches will make the right decisions for the team when the time comes. We believe in Alex and what he brings to the table and will hold off on commenting on QB play as to not cloud personal agendas. I think there will be a good, healthy QB battle come spring but right now our attention is on Dec 2nd and the MAC Championship game! GO ZIPS!
  21. @Dr Z - exceptional work behind the lens last night! ALL the thanks to you on this Thanksgiving week for giving us such great shots of the Zips in action!
  22. Just going to leave this here (in case you miss it from the MACC game thread): Me wearing the FULL ROO after the game last night. I had to return it to its rightful owner of course but how sweet is this thing?
  23. Got our tickets for the game this morning and booked hotel this afternoon. See y'all in Detroit! Oh and, I was successful in getting my hands on the FULL ROO helmet after the game. I had to return it to its rightful owner of course but I nonetheless got a pic of me in that sucker! EDIT: Hey, I'm 46 but I'm still a kid at heart!
  24. I just got home and you have a pic up already? I seriously need to invest in a helicopter!
  25. Yessir! Tough, resilient bunch of young men!!
