Do we know if they're opening the north baseline seats that have been replaced by the student pregame area all season? Would be nice to have all four sides filled.
I'm hoping tomorrow night is just far enough out from the snow storm that people will be able to get there with little issue. But it will be interesting to see how many show up.
I would say that if all of their MAC games are close and all of ours (other than the loss) are not, that kinda indicates it might not be that competitive. But rivalry games don't always follow the script!
According to a few people who cover OU on Twitter, it looks like Simmons and Elliott will both be available for tonight's game. Both are warming up pregame.
The food is very average. Plus, I don't remember there being TVs other than at the bar, which is a small area. So, it wouldn't be a great watch party location. If they had TVs in the dining area, it could be because there's lots of room.
It's also worth noting that OU was without Javan Simmons (former Toledo player) in the last game and postgame Boals said "not sure if he'll be able to go" when referring to the Akron game.
Also, guard Elijah Elliott has been out since earlier this month. Sounds like he may be back for this game but it's hard to tell. He averages 22 per game.
I know Athens is a tough place to play and we've lost the last 3 games there, as you said. But Ohio is also #223 in the NET Rankings (9th in the MAC), so it really should be and needs to be a win.
As for the betting odds, the opening spread and O/U are exactly the same as the Buffalo game...Zips favored by 8.5 with an O/U of 169.5
I hadn't thought of the potential of getting attendance from those in the area for the holidays. But it's also tough to find teams to schedule during the holidays as there's simply fewer games being played. Most games during that week between Christmas and New Year's seem to be against non-D1 teams.
Kent opened as 1.5 point favorites against Miami for tonight's game but that has since flipped and Miami is 1.5 point favorites. A Kent win is best for us in terms of a potential regular season title but it also means Kent would beat a top 25 team which you never want to see.
I won't pretend to know much about Buffalo. I've watched them a couple times for a few minutes here and there. I do know they have a pretty good offense and with our suspect defense, any good offense concerns me a bit. I also know Freitag is obviously their best player so we'll need to contain him and make others beat us.
