So nice of you to join us here at Zipsnation Mrs. Nicely...welcome aboard. Let's be real here...PN7 had two years and did not impress. I don't know if Moore is the either, but willing to give him the year PN7 got.
-
The game is Thursday this week, and on TV.
-
@Hilltopper didn't you read Zipswatcher's post....they've been doing this stuff since way before Glee. Apparently this is a sign that it is here to stay. You're right though....I do love the boring half time shows we get instead of something like this.
-
Who cares how it got popular....why doesn't our band do anything original or no original according to Zip Watcher. I would watch the band a lot more closely if they played something anything more entertaining. You know HBCU band have been stepping at half time and putting on a show forever, but it never gets old.
-
If it is that easy then why isn't our band doing it?
-
@Zipswatcher....I get it you don't understand but can you at least acknowledge that you may not like the music, but it liked by the masses as evidence by the 390K hits on You Tube? You don't have get it....you may never get it thats fine, but our band probably doesn't generate 50 hits from their snooze athons. @Cap'n there seem to be more people in the stands there then there are at the actual game at Akron.
-
Anyone think our band will ever get 390,000 hits on YouTube? This video is going viral and we continue to play music that just doesn't keep anyone in their seat a halftime. I love Galen, but someone has to convince him they need to make changes. Or maybe our band isn't talented enough?

Mentor doesn't just run the spread they go the majority of the time with no running back at all. Big game this week with 6-0 Mentor against 6-0 Solon the week Mentor takes the top spot in their division ahead of St. Ed, St. Ignatius etc. Looking forward to the game...the kid throws for the 300 plus each game.

I don't think 20 points will be enough. FIU looked simply better....much better in the two games I've caught them. They are pretty explosive and I expect to see a special team TD from FIU.

I promise you if someone is posting on this board they want the football team to play well and for Ianello to succeed. To question anyone from as small of a fan base as we have that is as big a fan as the people on this board makes me question those people. The typical Ianello skeptic (me included) saw this hire and could not for the life of us understand what it was that made TW hire him outside of him being his friend. He was coming off a disaster in Notre Dame that got the head coach fired. He was a wide receivers coach and was simply being sold to us an amazing recruiter. I think I said at the time a monkey could recruit to Notre Dame...c'mon how freaking hard is it to recruit to Notre Dame. He only had to walk into a house talk about the Notre Dame tradition and then have the head coach flash his Super Bowl rings. Funny thing about those "great" recruits they still haven't seemed to win a damn thing at Notre Dame. Perhaps the recruits weren't that good after all. All of that is water under the bridge and we now get to judge him on his progress....which has been non-existent. I don't like the way he carries himself on the sideline -- he always appears to be moping and rarely confident. I can't stand his offense and question his ability overall after losing to teams like Gardner Webb. I recently heard from a reliable source that he doesn't let his coach's coach and if he would stop micromanaging he might be able to turn this thing around. Maybe he'll figure that out. As much as I'd love to see him sent packing at the break I'm afraid we're stuck with him for next year. I hope in that time a light bulb goes on and the team blows me away. TW has done pretty much everything you can expect from him and done it pretty well...with the exception of the biggest thing in his Athletic Department. Lets put it this way i have to believe football progress needs to be approximately 50% of his job evaluation, soccer and basketball probably make up another 40% and the rest is 10%. I'm sorry if that sounds tough, but football is the most expensive part (by far) of your athletic department and the University has invested the most mone in it. We are not getting good return on value. So he can knock it out of the park in all other aspects of his job, but has failed so miserably with this hire I can't imagine he not receiving a did not meet expectations.

Watched FIU today against Duke. They may be us by 30. They were fun to watch though.
-
Two terrible football teams so I have to go with home field advantage...not that there will really be homefield advantage considering there will most likely be dozens of fans at the game, but it is at their place so I give them the 1 point advantage.
-
Sad...very sad. If he would have spent his time studying instead of stuff like this he probably could have been a decent student with a chance to play football later in life. I'm guessing the time he should have been in the weight room and library was spent up to no good. Hate to see things like this, but glad he didn't end up here and put a stain like this on the program.
-
Perhaps it is the state of our program that I'm down on and that led to my post. I have a hard time busting on Can't football when i feel like we are moving in the wrong direction. Last year's game was closer than it should have been in my mind. As for bashing OSU...I simply can't stand the arrogance of OSU and the community at large for their love them. With regard to that we are in the same boat with all programs who get no love from the media or the community. Can you imagine if Greater Cleveland loved Josh Cribbs as much as they do now when he was at Can't...it could have helped them immensely.
-
At least it is a tradition from a winning program. I woudl think the Can't football bashing would stop when they clean our clock, but it continues. I hate Can't, but i can't bring myself to bash them because i feel like an idiot. All they have to do is come on here and say scoreboard. Very weird to me.
-
Well they have won two games to inferior talent, but Alabama State is at least 3-1 and Howard has one won game. They've also lost by less than us so I'm guessing that is where the extra five points comes from since home field is supposed automatically be three points.

@skip-zip maybe you should read the entire thread to understand why I put in the response he is an akron guy. Here is a clue when I put an @ followed by someone's screen name I am responding to something that person posted....my response about Winters being an Akron guy was a response to Racer saying Winters wouldn't come here. What I'm puzzled by is why Winters doesn't ever get credit for the Zips offense in the past. My selling point back then to get people to the games with me was they have a high powered offense that is a blast to watch. Even when they were losing it was fun to watch the offense in the LO era.
-
@Doug he proved what he could do at this level when he was offensive coordinator here under Owens. Look at the offense his team ran and the points his teams put up. It wasn't because of our offense that we lost when Owens was here -- out defensive was bad. Heck in 2003 our offense was ranked 11th nationally -- 36.2 a game. @Racer Winters is not just a guy who if offered the job would see it as a possible next step in his career...he is from Akron, went to St. V and was the 1980 Athlete of the Year at Akron. I think an opportunity to make Akron into a winner would be an appealing one two him. We've got another guy who was playing baseball when Winters was here coaching our basketball team.

Congratulations to the Zips today. Hope they can make it two in a row next week.

Wow! That is not 40% at all. So sad.

Super-conference discussion (Akron specific)
Big Zip replied to LZIp's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
I read somewhere else that Syracuse wouldn't have been considered if they didn't have their football stadium. Apparently the dome was a driving force in getting them into the new conference. -
You first @Dave.
-
@Doug not a bad comparisson...nice job.I do like that Cristobal runs a different offense, but that is not to say the path wasn't similar with work experience. I will say his work at Rutgers probably gave him a more realistic preview of what it was going to take and Rutgers was ultimatley successful -- both things that Notre Dame did not provide iCoach.Looking to see significant improvement this week...hoping we see it.
-
I'll respond right back at you. Why is it so important for passionate fans to stop calling for iCoach's head? That is what passionate fans that care about the program do. This thread started with calling out those that are upset and somehow we can't ask for a similar response in turn?
-
@Dave I hope you are right that we don't really know if this plan is going to succeed, but i would vote today that this plan has far less chance of success. Nothing iCoach has done to this point makes me believe he can be a successful coach...we have listed the reasons. I would love to see a list of reasons that would compel me to believe otherwise. I have seen iCoach compared to Al Golden and I will tell you if you or anyone think iCoach had half the coaching experience Al Golden had coming here you may have a point, but his history isn't even close. Iwould also argue Temple was in worse shape than us as evidenced by our dominance of them through the years.
