To quote the myriad of posters on this board....why would this guy want to come to the MAC? He'd have to take a pay cut. I know this is a different OSU coach but same assistant HC title right or was this guy not paid as well?

I heard the interview live yesterday and dont' think I've ever heard Caleb sound as "cocky" as he did in that interview. But as they say it isn't cocky or arrogant if you back it up and he backed it up. I did love the comment...I've built a juggernaut here. Yes Caleb you have and we Zips fans couldn't be happier. I've had conversations over the last few days with people about soccer that I never knew had even a remote interest. The publicity you've brought to our school and the notice is awesome. This morning I was watching FoxNews and they even gave a shout out to the Akron Zips National Champion soccer team - nuts! By the way -- Sherrod Brown how about you get the boys from Akron and audience with the President to recognize their National Championship. If you can't do it - Rob Portman let's see what kind of Mojo you have with the White House.

I'm guessing if this kid is signing with Akron --- I can't imagine he is coming here to sit behind PN7. I have to believe iCoach told him he will be given every opportunity to start.

Dartmouth is (recently) probably the strongest Ivy League school and would love to see them on the Zips schedule.

I did talk with D'Orazio's dad this summer and told him that we needed his son to play defensive back....he told me his intention is to play QB.

One of my favorite linebackers is London Fletcher and he would tell you this kid just needs to hit the gym. Fletcher is listed at 5'10 and 245....maybe he can be that kind of run stopper in the middle with some weight behind him.

That Glenville program has a lot of talent but I've always felt they lack disciplline to get the job done....year in and year out they seem to come up short and when I watch the game it appears to be a bunch of individuals playing football. I'm hopeful these two will adapt to the structured discipline way ICoach runs his team. They is already going to be culture shock from the lack of wins.

Amazing how the Barley House can give the people on this board the finger with their OSU outfitted wait staff -- Brutus the Buckeye blow up (or whatever) there real lack of committment to the Zips then come on here and everyone is on board. I said it before -- I tried to go to the Barley House prior to the home opener this year. The place was understaffed 2 hours before kick-off -- there were plenty of open tables yet 30 or 40 of us waiting to be seated in the door way. My family walked down to Brubakers where they were all dressed in Akron gear, had Akron cups and beer specials and more than happy to take care of me and my family quickly. Barley House doesn't care about the Zips -- they simply know the Buckeyes aren't on TV Friday night. My guess is there will be a DJ -- you won't be able to hear the game and I'll look forward to hearing everyone bitch Saturday.

Other schools have moved to bigger conferences without the credentials to do it. UCF made the move to Conf USA without winning the MAC once. USF wasn't even Div 1 when they moved to Conf USA. I'd rather be an independent than be a part of the MAC anymore. I have enough of the MAC and would rather move on. It has provided us with nothing over the years and it is prepping to provide us even less going forward.

TCU obviously sees the Big East as easily winnable and an automatic berth in the BCS even when they don't go undefeated. This year W.Va., Connecticut and Pitt are all tied for first at 4-2. Overall records are 8-3, 7-4 and 6-5 respectively or mediocre and non deserving of a BCS bid yet they'll get one. TCU has a chance to dominate this league year in and year out. There has to be another invite for the Big East coming soon as TCU puts them at nine and most likely another three to get to 12 and a Big East Championship game. It isn't the conference it used to be and you wouldn't get invited for basketball, but would you make the move if the call came with basketball needing to find another route? Could we get an invite to play basketball in the Horizon league and would one of the other schools invite come along too in order to make it an even dozen in the Horizon league? Big East is a weird conference since they have 14 for soccer their numbers seem to be all over the map with their various sports, but you would hope we could get the invite to soccer (opposite side of Louisville). I know it is all dreaming but things are just so bad in the MAC it can't help us with anything staying here. I would love to be somewhere else....this conference continues to go down and we need a better conference to get real legitimacy with the fans of NE Ohio without will always be an after thought.

It seems to me the tea party is a fiscal conservative party first and foremost. Everything I read and heard during the election was about cutting spending and smaller government. I heard nothing about gay rights, abortion etc. in connection with the tea party. I'm not saying it didn't exist I'm simply saying the main focus was the fiscal conservativeness.

Someone please put a stop to this thread and this needless pissing match. How freaking ridiculous. How many times are we going to have this discussion on here. Nobody is going to change their minds on whether they root for OSU or not because they go to Akron. I did particularly like the part from the blog in this thread as it is the only new piece of information since this thread was hijacked for the Akron/OSU conversation.

In this day and age I don't see the value brought about by a library. Not that the library doesn't need revamped, but they better make it something completely different because a library seems less and less valuable in the connected global society we live in.

I'm hopeful iCoach brings in JUCO talent to bolster this team. This team returns five on offense and seven on defense. With the top two running backs and top two receivers playing their last game....I certainly hope we can get some experience at those positions. Please bring in competition for Nicely too.

I'm not sure what I was listening to if it was Zips Live, but the conversation was talking about the Graduat Assistant responsibility of watching tape and breaking it down. They talked about them getting first crack at the next week's opponent before the coaches got to see it. If it was the Can't program I didn't notice and find it ironic that both are hosted on the same station. It obviosly kept my attention for about 2 minutes and I changed the station. I've heard the guys on 1350 talking about Akron sports before and listen to them from time to time. If you expect them to talk about an 0-10 program for longer than a few minutes your asking them to guarantee their program get cancelled. I think it would be great if CK did a once a week call in with the guys at 1350. The guy from BuckNuts calls in to 850 KNR and talks Buckyes. I appreciate Bill dropping by here and I would encourage him to listen to the program 1100 is putting on for Gary Waters. We need a program like that too.

I got a two touchdown win for the Zips Friday. I don't see Buffalo scoring more than 10 points.

I was listening about five weeks ago to those two guys on my way home and they were telling us we were the problem. We weren't giving him a chance and he was left with nothing. He's a great guy, we know him personally, and he will turn this ship around. I'm wondering if that was all BS? Why would they change their story now? On the flip side, I listen to the CSU Basketball call in show on 850 AM when I get the chance. The show is awesome, people call in and Gary Waters answers all the questions. Andre Knott (from St. V) hosts the show and he does a fantastic job. CSU is doing this right and we can't get out of our own damn way. I don't listen to the Zips call in show because it is just plain bad and is about as entertaining as listening to the two cups one coach video posted here previously. The funny thing is KD and Caleb are both great in interview settings. They are always great to listen to but the program sounds so canned it just isn't entertaining. I caught part of the Zips show last week and they were interviewing the graduate assistant of the football program....are you freaking kidding me?

I have season tickets and I had a choice to make last Wednesday....hurry home from work and head down to the stadum foregoing an evening with my family (because they would not go with me) or stay home with my family don't rush around and watch the game on TV in HD no less. I chose to say home with my family. If the team was winning I can assure you my family would have been interested and we all would have rushed around after work to get there in time. Heck we may even have taken a half day so we could tailgate. I agree the product is what drives attendance, but at least that had my four tickets to count.

It will be quite interesting if Can't brings in someone to coach that was recommended on this board but not hired. I have to think they can't make a worse choice than we did.
