  1. I'd pay $100 to do this.
  2. Actually that's exactly the opposite of what it says: 2011 UCF @ Louisville Duke @ Akron 2012 @ Duke Louisville Akron @ UCF So our OOC games next year would be @OSU, @ Cinci, home against FIU and probably an FCS team.
  3. Uh, I'm pretty sure the Syracuse staff knows what kind of defense the Zips will play. I bet they even played against it before. I just read it here...I called up Doug and told him...I heard Sh!t and mad scrambling in the background...Thanks for the heads up.ZachThe Zip You are my favorite opposing team poster ever.
  4. Well thanks, now there's no reason to even go. But if this even remotely happends we will elect you king.
  5. But Spicer Hall is back. OK, so it's no longer the former elementary school turned registrar's building, but it is a brand new very nice dorm right behind the Info.
  6. And this piece today - Can't State Coach feels fire driving his team. I certainly hope he feels it, with a career record of 24-46, it is right under his seat.
  7. Sadly not. They lost 3-1 and Morehead was 0-3 this year.
  8. In the vein of all publicity is good publicity, Zippy made the list of Worst College Mascots as "voted" upon by ESPN.com readers. Impressive appearance though, other than WKU every other mascot is at a BCS school. Maybe we're not as far off as we think. 6. Akron Zips: "Originally, Zippers after a rubber overshoe. Really? A rubber overshoe? And your mascot is a kangaroo. It's Akron, not Australia. No wonder LeBron James moved to Miami," wrote Alex of Littleton, Colo.
  9. Ladies are down 2-1 with about 7 minutes left in the first half.
  10. Money issues ought to also quell any talk about a Conference USA move. The travel budget would skyrocket for a only a slight conference upgrade.
  11. Actually, they did. They weren't widely distributed probably, but a couple of young ladies were walking around handing them out.
  12. I don't want to get into the soccer fan/non-soccer fan discussions again, but looking at the blog post and comments how can you not get excited about other schools talking about US this way? Also interesting that they have the same issue with getting soccer jerseys.
  13. I didn't know he had left. Damn! He was great for the program. He is still listed as Akron's coach, but here is the confirmation: http://wakeforestsports.cstv.com/sports/w-.../082710aab.html I do expect that some out of successful coaches but we are also lucky to have some pretty loyal guys in Dambrot, Mitchell and Porter. You forgot a girl named Coach Kest. Didn't forget her, just waiting to see what the success/loyalty factor is with her. She basically had one good year, if she has another does she stick around?
  14. I didn't know he had left. Damn! He was great for the program. 15. Sadly, the scarves were not ready on Friday night. The certificate just wasn't the same, especially for those of us that it is not easy to get them in person. Regardless, though, the get together at the Info was very nice (got to meet Doc Nash, one of the Zips early soccer coaches), the ladies game was fun and the stadium is very nice. The chair backs were a nice touch. On Monday, the Zips basketball golf tournament was also a lot of fun (would have been even better if we could have just hit a shot from 80 yards out).
  16. It was Michigan State. Sadly, looks like it is off the board now.
  17. It was also mentioned in Anthony Ponikvar's columns for GoZips.com In the Box with Poni
  18. Last year, I was one of 147 soccer season ticket holders. This year, I just read this on GoZips.com "More than 750 season tickets have been sold for the 2010 season, but some still remain". Outstanding, just goes to show what a little success will do for you.
  19. I think you guys are being too hard on them. After the "injury", they marched right the field and scored - against their own defense.
  20. That's terrific, four basketball team members and two were eraly, including Steve Swiech who graduated cum laude. Even though he is moving on, he is the kind of kid to be really proud he chose the Zips. Man, I wish he'd have gotten a little more playing time, but he should be a beast for his final year at CUP.
  21. Also got a mention in the Athletic Business Website. Talking about how some schools are starting to pick this up, but that we are in our second year.
  22. Who are you? What have you done with the Zipmeister's body?
  23. The only team to beat us under Porter, NIU, doesn't get a vote? I'd go with them if the distance wasn't so great.
  24. To put this in some perspective - we have a good sized group of SYRACUSE fans making the trip to Akron. The school that gave us Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Donovan McNabb. Holy S---! I think this is great!
  25. While this is entertaining to many of us who have been on this board for a while, just to try to help here so you don't start tearing your hair out, if you look at any of the Zipmeister's posts from the past several years you will find a pattern. He loves sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek types of posts. I'd estimate maybe 1 in 100 of his posts are actually serious. It's his "thing". Even his name was based on a Saturday Night Live character who exhibted some of the same annoying traits. Don't take him seriously as some of his posts are actually quite funny when viewed in that light. Don't get into an argument with him because he will continue to play it for as just as long as this one has seemed to go on. Next week: An analysis of JohnnyZip84.
