Absorb the sanctions. What JT would bring to UA would outweigh most temporary sanctions. The loss of a handful of scholarships? I'd guess the quality of recruits JT would attract would render that harmless on the MAC level. The loss of bowl eligibility for a couple of years? Ha! We're a couple of years away from qualifying for a bowl anyhow. But how could they ban Akron from bowl games and scholarships? That's punishing a school who has zero connection to the OSU problems. The Buckeyes never got any penalties of that magnitude did they? maybe scholarships but I didn't hear anything about a bowl ban. Tressel isn't coming to Akron, but I think he's paid for it already. He lost his job, got a new job with the Colts and had to serve a suspension with them. Isn't that enough? Did the Colts get punished for hiring him? don't think so. The fact that sanctions would follow him is very much in our favor. It means a successful program with bowl chances probably would not want him right now. WE have absolutely nothing to lose. What could be worse than 1-11? 0-12? I can get you that for lets say $100k per year and housing. Anyone with a clue can do better.

And at 6'6 we are going to have a BIG team next year.

A "big time" coach gives the program instant credibility, and if we fail we really can't blame the coach! Just consider this: Right now, we are the worst team in Div I. And Akron is not exactly an Ivy league school. We have NOTHING to induce a recruit to come here, unless this is his only scholarship offer. On the other hand, KD has managed to sign Zeke, Walsh, Tree, Harney, Deji who could all probably play for almost any program in the NCAA (look how well Humpty is doing) and next year Adams, a TOP prospect. Perpetual post season tourneys will do that for you. Akron is quickly becoming an attractive place to play basketball. Football is locked in an endless loop. With our record no one wants to play for such a total loser. We have nothing to offer except scholarship money. So does every other DI school. The only chance we have to break out of this is to get a top top coach, with a winning reputation. Who can attract good kids to play for him, because there is some promise of a future.

I said a few weeks ago that the biggest problem this year is figuring out who to play. Looks like the team is staring to help KD make that decision. The lineup should and will be: Zeke Tree Diggs Harney AA With Walsh as 6th man and Nik and Egner as rotation subs. Not sure what role Nitro will play. Keep in mind, Nik has been largely silent this season, while Tree and Harney have played themselves into the lineup. Now if only anyone besides Zeke could sink a free throw. The key to success this season is going to be to feed the ball to Zeke. MAC teams will find it very hard to defend him, and with Tree crashing the boards we should get many many putbacks. Prescription drugs?? I think you owe me an apology. With the exception of AA's suspension, looks like I called it!

I say we go after John Madden. No money, he doesn't need any. Just the challenge of making the worst team in Div I into a winner.

I noticed that Zeke has become AGGRESSIVE. It is about time he started to look like the future NBA prospect that he is. I especially liked the fact that he took the ball to the basket against a guy his own size and won! AA better be careful that he does not fall victim to the Wally Pipp syndrome (Google Wally Pipp if you don't know what I mean). That freshman has huge potential. When he drained that long three it was amazing, and he was all over the place. He also has inside skills, and they will come out. Hey, this was his first real playing time in Div I, and he made some rookie mistakes. Expect him to challenge DJ Cooper for WOW factor very soon. This is a VERY athletic, and very tall team. Those two losses were a damn shame. Tonight we blew out a Div I team.

Well, I got the sound. And it is even in synch. But the feed is kind crap compared to what we get from mac-sports in general.

"Earlier today, I informed Coach Ianello that he has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately," Wistrcill said. "In some areas, the program has made considerable progress under his leadership. Unfortunately, the results on the field fell far short of our expectations. After a comprehensive evaluation, I have determined that our football program needs to move in a new direction." Hopefully that direction is UP and not down to Div II

He's my favorite player on the team. It's quite revealing that my next 3 favorite players are the long snapper, punter & place kicker, in that order. We Zips fans don't have anything to be excited about. The punter is very good. He might have a future.

Really, we should keep him. If we can schedule a D3 team next year he could get win #3.
