Glad to know his douchebag friends, hangers on and former Zips enjoy the prick. It says a lot about them as well. Unless Akron has an NBA team their talking about Cleveland vs Akron is irrelevant.

Sewell grew out of his position. He was great as a freshman lb/de. Then he bulked up to de and was still pretty good. Then he bulked up more to DT, where he was nothing special. Very suprising that Wagner didn't make it. Wow.

You beat me to it. Why does that comment make him a 'genius'? I thought Einstein was a genius. Haven't found anybody who comments on sports blogs to be a genius. Me too. Yet. No one in football is a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein. Yes, he makes great Bagels

Why did they move Jalil Carter to offense, robbing an already weak secondary, only to not throw the ball to him for the first 7 or 8 games. Then when they finally utilize him he is the most productive receiver on the team. Why....because its what we do here at Akron. Ooh, oooh, oooh, I know the answer to this one....Because the coach is a dumbazz.

That's because Tamaurice Martin was a better QB. ...AND he did it in his JUNIOR year. Just ask GP1 how great Tamaurice was, T got drafted by his favorite NFL team. PS Tee is now the UK's wide receiver coach (kind of funny). Holy crap. I always thought his name was Tee. I didn't know it was Tamaurice. I would have gone by Tee too.

You can certainly win without a great QB in college. Obviously you need to make it up other places. If you have a great defense, a great o-line and great running game, you will only need a decent QB. If you have a QB that manages the game, doesn't lose it, you will be fine. UT wont he NC the year after Peyton Manning Graduated. Krenczel was as average as you can get. Dorsey was nothing special. Leak was nothing special. All fo those guys had great running backs and a great defense. That is the difference. UF problems go much deeper than Tebow. UM has been sick and that is affecting his coaching. Their current QB doesn't fit the offense that Meyer runs. The gimmick offenses are shut down once they are figured out.

Did this horrible excuse for a coach really say that? I find it hard to believe. He needs as many people as possible on his side. I can't believe he is really this stupid.

It doesn't matter what the rankings of teams are, it only matters what you do. What if the #2 teams are in fact not very good? tOSU is one of about ten darlings of voters. No matter what they do, they are always going to be highly ranked going into seasons. Schedule four cupcakes and walk through an easy Big Ten during their weekly punting festivals is how tOSU stays near the top. The illusion is much greater than the reality. Don't get me wrong, tOSU has good players and does what they have to do to win games in a bad conference and a cupcake OOC. The winning is what it is. I'm looking forward to tOSU having to play an SEC team this bowl season. It is usually a good reality check for tOSU fans. For me, my dislike for tOSU is has much more to do with their silly fans than the team itself. They produce a lot of really good NFL backup players....there, I said something nice about the players. I was actually agreeing with pretty much everything you said, including about a lot of their fans, until your uninformed post about the conference and players. You may want to look at some NFL rosters and starters and pro bowl rosters before making such posts. 3 top 10 teams and 4 top 20 teams is certainly a bad conference... And that is wth 2 perenial powers currently way down in scUM and PSU. I don't even know why I even attempt to discuss this stuff with some of you guys. You suffer from such SPE that it makes it impossible to have a real discussion. You hate OSU so much that nothing will change that. They could go 12-0, win the NC have the #1 SOS in the nation and you would still find some way to discredit them. There is smack talk, which I enjoy, and there is this crap. To have a real smack talk conversation, both sides need to be honest and somewhat objective. You aren't. Your hate overtakes you. Not only that, but smack talk between non rivals or teams playing each other is worthless. -
UA football candidate named D-1 asst. coach of year

Why is Fickell a superior canidate to Ianello? Because he coached at OSU? Who cares? This has so little to do with predicting the success of a person as a head coach. I remember when the search was going on, the majority of posters wanted someone with head coaching experience. When Icoach is finally relieved of his duties, I don't want an assistant coach who is trying to see if he can make it as a head coach. I want the Brian Kelly(DII national champs) or Jerry Kill(SIU I-AA powerhouse) canidate. I want to see our program hire someone who has shown they are able to be effective as a head coach. I wish the best for Fickell but I am tired of coaches being given their first head coaching jobs at the MAC level. Let him try it somewhere else. When we get rid of icoach, please hire a successful I-AA or DII head coach. Well said. -

Until the AD's of the MAC realize this and then stop scheduling the medium ten schools, this will not change. If we get to play as many of these games at home as we do on the road, then I would reconsider. Otherwise, the MAC needs to start scheduling winnable games. There should be a MAC-Sunbelt challenge or maybe MAC-CUSA. Every team gets one home and one away game. This ensures a home game every year, and also a winnable road game. Or MAC/Big East. Different conferences do this in basketball, why not football? -

I agree that Geek needs to STFU. He has no business saying this BS. This is the same idiot who a while back said the tie with scUM was the greatest victory for OSU... As for your 2 times not deserving of the NC game. You are wrong. They deserved to be there against Florida. But they were over confident and Troy Smith spending a month on the banquet circuit killed that. I know the haters will argue that, but anyone that watched the team that season knows they deserved to be there and everyone in the CFB world thought they would beat Florida.. Only the haters won't see that. I guess beating the #2 team in the country 3 times in 1 season isn't deserving The second time I will agree with you. They backed in against LSU. It seemed that year nobody wanted to play in the NCG. -
UA football candidate named D-1 asst. coach of year

Fickel has proven nothing. A lot of guys are great assistants and never make it as a HC. I know that he is looking to get a HC job somewhere to eventually take the place of Tressel at OSU. Tressel will be retiring within the next 5 years and Fickel has an inside shot if he goes and wins somewhere else first. -
What the hell is going on here? It is very unusual for players to leave during the season.

Did someone mention multiplying anything by 0? I remember taking MUM with Dr Hockman back in the day on the old UA television classroom in Leigh Hall. He used to tell us they can multiply and divide by 0 at Can't.

See Captain Kangaroo, I'm not the only one that notices this stuff.

For the umpteenth time, they are a competitor of the Zips. Oh yeah, I forgot. LOL Per Jeff Sagarin....not Zips Win! Update: 75% of the season complete and the SOS is 87 out of 120. 13 Ohio State A = 86.27 8 1 65.41( 87) Good to see you are so obsessed with them and following them so much. I am surprised you aren't bashed relentlessly for it. You must not be a true Zip fan. BTW, Obsession isn't a good thing. You may want to seek professional help. Just saying....... Exactly how am I obsessed with THEM? On a weekly basis I take one minute and check out Sagarin's ratings to see how his computer formula ranks all the college football teams. I then post for you the tosu sos. Hardly an obsession... As for the Zips, I've never gone to a game!!!! I guess if you were posting every teams SOS you would have a point. But seeing that you only pick OSU and you pick the one SOS rating service that shows the lowest, it's obvious you are trolling. It doesn't bother me though. I just laugh about it. It's obvious you have SPS and this is your way of dealing with it. More power to you.

How is it we only have 58 players on the travel squad?

Looking forward to seeing if Colt can keep looking decent. He doesn't look great, but he is managing the game and not losing it for the team. It will be interesting once teams have more game film on him and learn his tendencies to see if he can continue to improve. As of right now, it looks like the Browns may have their QB. I don't eve see him being an all pro type, but maybe he can just be a nice steady QB.

Not entirely accurate. Donte Cloud refused to go to class and was a huge disciplinary problem. He played some his true freshman year and got kicked off the team by Brookhart, and probably would've failed out anyways, but he didn't quit. Jemall Benjamin actually seemed like a pretty good kid who was probably going to make it, until he was attacked in his sleep in the summer heading into his redshirt freshman year by some thug who had snuck into his house with a lead pipe. He ended up in intensive care, his noggin was never the same, and he couldn't get cleared to play. Didn't quit. Stephon Fuqua actually stayed, played, and was great in the classroom. If you want to say he "quit" before his senior year, I guess you could say that if you consider transferring quitting, but he transferred not because he couldn't hack it on the field or had problems with the coaches, but because he had already graduated and Akron did not offer the graduate degree that he was looking for. If ever there's a "right" reason to transfer, that's it right there. I'm not saying we should be beating down the door at Glenville, because I think a lot of those kids are the "high risk" recruits that JD had a flavor for, but of the Glenville 3 that JD recruited in his first class, you can really only say that one, Cloud, was a complete failure based on things within his own control. Where did you hear that story about Benjamin?

Are you being sarcastic or do you just not realize you clicked on the football forum?

Even that is wishful thinking. I would bet that we have him around for the entire length of his contract. UA is not going to buy this contract out. They don't have the money. Tough to buy-out $350k - $950k worth of contracts, when you are selling 4k worth of tickets in a $62 million stadium. UA Athletics is definitely not swimming in excess cash right now. Can we get Jim Tressel to donate $1million to buy out the contract, if we let Luke "The Messiah" Fickell take the reigns? Like I keep asking. What has Fickell done that makes anyone think he would be a good HC?
-
How do you know the current players don't like him?
-
Consistently is a quality of his. He is consistently outcoached.
