Not only that, but I would say the crowd split was 60-40 OSU. The Zips were well represented in those 7,200. That's impressive that so many Zip fans showed up. I can't stand living in Georgia...I want to be there so bad.....LOL

People wonder why so many hate OSU fans... Seems like further confirmation of what I've already believed for years in my own experiences. I'm sure they don't like that in recent years Akron soccer has burst their "We are the almighty elite sports school of Ohio" bubble. If 7,000 people were there, I think it shows that not only do they hate losing to us, but couldn't stand losing their self-proclaimed elite superiority to another school in Ohio. Not that it necessarily decided the game. But, if this is how their players/fans behaved, it is not one bit of a surprise. Perhaps so many showed up to watch the #1 ranked team in the nation play soccer. Just a thought. I can't speak for anyone else, but if Alabama was playing at the Info, I would certainly be there. Some would take that as a compliment to the teams success. Others....well.

Thank you for your two long posts. You must have been up half the night boiling in anger. I'm sure if you had better writing skills, you could have composed a much shorter response. Every team that loses isn't a fraud. Good teams lose all the time. What makes a fraud is the build-up. These teams and fans think something great is about to happen after a year of winning against less than capable teams. At the end of the year, that team gets destroyed by a much better team they thought they were as good as and the fraud is complete. I have no doubt tOSU will march right through a terrible conference and be in the BCS Championship. Who is going to stop them? Michigan....we saw the Rich Rod 4-0 start last year and how it ends. Iowa (speaking of frauds)....lost to an average Arizona team. Wisconsin......almost lost to an always underperforming PAC 10 team at home and nobody should be impressed. PSU....when Joe Pa retires, they can change their name to the University of Illinois. The best tOSU can hope for is for the voters to lose their minds and actually put Boise State in the championship game. I'm sure everyone in Buckeyeland if rooting for that. Winning a national championship game after beating not a single good team all season is what is needed for tOSU. The last thing they want to see is Alabama lining up on the other side of the ball. Always been proud to be a Zip. Didn't just start with the soccer teams success. I have had my Akron sticker on my vehicles for 20 years. I have 2 Akron hoodies and countless hats in my closet right now. I actually wore my Akron jersey to my daughters soccer game last night. The coach for the opposing team asked me if I knew Akron was a power in soccer..It was hard for me not to say duh.

The Big 10 is a second tier league and is garbage. He left because he didn't think he could compete for a National Championship at Akron. He was wrong and I'd love to prove his theory wrong by beating Louisville on the road to becoming Louisville is a match-up that really interests me because they are a big name school, and we trail in the all-time series with them 0-2-1. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. I'm always amazed when I think about how fast the Faust years went sour. Faust deservedly takes a lot of abuse for how bad things were at the end, but there was a time in the middle when things appeard to be heading in the right direction. There were some very, very good players during that time period. There were players who would have easily started and excelled in any era since. A good topic would probably be about how the Zips went from good in 92 to horrible in 94. I think a lot of it had to do with an overreaction by the school in terms of some off the field issues. When the school overreacted, Faust did so even more because he simply was not able to deal with the type of kid who might get into trouble. It was a complete disaster....... Faust could recruit. No doubt about it.

Soccer is such an irritating sport though. Losing the NC last year on kicks after an undefeated season is hard to accept. Now just knowing how low scoring games usually are and that 1 mistake can lose you a game where you completely dominate is scary.

You may want to read the entire thread. Most are discussing this seasons schedule. The op mentioned this season schedule as being bad. I disagree with that. IU and UK are mid to bottom feeders of their conferences. I agree we shouldn't schedule OSU, USC, Alabama, etc. But Indiana and Kentucky are perfect.

I thought that was a great playcall by Ianello. Everything was working with the exception of our WR dropping the pass. That type of call is one of those calls that if it works everyone says great call. If it doesn't eveyone says bad call. In this case it didn't work but it was a great call.
